I loved the vibe of this show. It harkened back to TPS days of old. A simpler time, a more innocent time. A clean shaven Mick giddy with excitement as Dan pounded out riffs on the Carpe Diem type of time. And of course you topped it off with an everything on of epic proportions. Really great episode! Cheers.

FINALLY SOME LOVE FOR THE EHX RIPPED SPEAKER!! That pedal is so underrated, litterally my favorite fuzz pedal. Fun fact you can also achieve some bit crush sounds by messing with the rip control. So happy to see you guys feature this pedal, EHX knocked it out of the park with this circuit!!

Fantastic show, right in the ballpark of what makes "That Pedal Show" special. A great range of tones from a great range of pedals, in all different price-points and with the intention of inspiring people to play differently. I love the thought of plugging into something and it squeezing something out of me that other things haven't - I had that experience when I bought my first fuzz last April (late to the fuzz party I know!). Genuinely the sounds made and faces pulled makes all your effort worthwhile because you're clearly having a great time, and you have a community who love what you do! Keep doing it, because tone!

Ripped Speaker: Increase the bias gives you more headroom. It's probably a reverse pot in that the more you turn it up the lower the bias is and therefore more gated sound. The Fuzz knob will also change the amount of feedback so these two work together, vol & tone are probably after the Fuzz section. I have one of their Germanium Fuzz and Overdrive and they both work that way.
Yes Reverb on Fender is always before trem.
Great show guys, thanks so much!

Somewhat off topic but you mentioned harmonic trem and that first episode with Joey and that got me thinking; this will be the 5th year anniversary of the release of the Harmonious Monk and I have a suggestion for a variation on the pedal. It would be an epic throwback to that episode if Jam Pedals could make a Dual Harmonious Monk pedal that allows you to run in mono-in-stereo-out or internally parallel so you can get that dual offset tremolo sound.

Rocket 88 by Ike Turner‘s band, Jackie Branston, I believe is the earliest use of distortion on guitar. The story is that on the way to the recording session the guitar players amp fell out of the trunk of the car, causing damage the amp and they just went with the distorted sound.

I've been considering both of these amps-fantastic to hear them together! That alone made for an excellent video.
I'm originally from Cambridge but moved to the USA, specifically Maryland, about 20 minutes from the PRS factory. So, I've been thinking I must try some PRS gear, and the HDRX 20 seems like a really sweet deal.
Over here, Sweetwater offers a Deluxe Reverb with some mods, such as a mid control, tweaked tremolo sweep, etc., plus you get a new warranty since it’s been "messed with."
Anyway, long story short-thanks for the video! It was great to hear the gear put together in the final form I'm dreaming up-what are the chances!

Malcolm Young’s sound, more than Angus’, was not only NOT super distorted, but it was also relatively thin and plinky. Not thin in a bad way, still relatively thick. But very bright, chimey, and only mildly distorted. I’ve listened to a lot of isolated live Malcolm tracks, and it’s just glorious. People focus way too much on gain and distortion when playing AC/DC rhythm guitar. It was all about Malcolm’s right hand- that’s where the power and punch really came from. For AC/DC hard rock rhythm, you only need enough gain for it to distort when you really hit the chord hard. If you had too much distortion, it’s way too compressed and doesn’t PUNCH the way it does when it’s cleaner. Super high headroom Marshall stacks, set to only 5 or 6, and Malcolm’s right hand- that’s the AC/DC rhythm guitar sound!

I have slowly learned this over 30-years, less gain, more headroom, and actually get the guitar to stand out in the mix. (More gain/distortion sounds great in my practice room but can’t get out of the mix with the band.) I’ve listened to the Malcolm isolated tracks - it is really cool how generally clean he is playing but still so hard for me to dial back the gain. Maybe someday I’ll learn. (Hwy to Hull!)

@ It’s because the squishiness of the distortion is more forgiving, and often feels nice to play with. The downside is that when you practice and play at home with a lot of distortion, it then makes it harder to play with less distortion when you play gigs. It’s also hard to get that kind of in-between clean and distortion sound Malcolm got without using a higher headroom amp that’s turned up to 6. It’s just too loud for most applications these days. And pedals just put a sheen of distortion over your whole sound, even if the pedal gain is turned way down. It’s a difficult conundrum these days!
