@@MightyHawx If God was real he would have let us all know by now, but in the Grand scheme of things you have this being of some kind floating around the vast nothingness that is space for an eternity until he gets this great idea to create the cosmos, then of all the places in the universe he decides to put his son on this tiny spec in the universe and have him killed just to say sorry? There are dozens of religions and there have been over 5000 Gods that people have worshiped, but yours is the right one because a bunch of men without any education wrote texts that explain everything you need to know without question. The timeline in the Bible puts the world at about 8000 years old, but the Aboriginals of Australia have a 65,000 year history. If a question is to hard its always "The Bible tells us" But no one was around at the time of the creation so how would anyone know? There is no evidence to suggest Moses was real, nothing! Jesus may have existed but a son of god? unlikely but he was a preacher of sorts as were many others at the time and learned everything he knew from John the Baptist. Mary was not a virgin per se as the original text in Hebrew say "Young Woman" not a Virgin. and the list goes on.
So our understanding of quantum mechanics is totally wrong or it is still true but the depth is shallow compared to 1000 years later. Remember, if a being wanted to influence the world organically he would have done it in the same manner. For instance we tried to teach a Gorilla how to do sign language. However, much of what she communicated was incoherent has she tried to express complex concepts. Although she had the sophisticated words and vocabulary to express complex concepts herself. In essence, we are not that much different than 2000 years ago. We can be influenced by populist beliefs that would have been considered crude 50 years ago…

I lived with a crippling addiction to cocaine and lost everything and everyone in my life. I turned to rehabilitation for help. I was also a fervent and devoted Christian and I desperately prayed and pleaded for forgiveness and help but nothing changed. And every therapist and counselor I went to turned out to also be believers and told me to turn to Jesus for help. Even though I had dramatically changed my mindset and put great effort into making improvements in my life myself, I still needed help.
It wasn’t until I got to a point where I was no longer convinced that any gods existed and fortunately found a secular science based rehabilitation center that didn’t insist that I either surrender to their religious deity or face eternal torment and misery that I finally achieved my sobriety. I have been sober now for 16 years. Free from the shackles of addiction and also free from the shackles of religious dogma and threats of violence and torture from an all-loving god.

I am sure that there have been thousands of people that have been afflicted with the same, or similar problems that you have faced, and they have turned to God and have made themselves clean, there is no magic fix or prayer that will do all of the work in removing oneself from these terrible addictions, which is what they are, an addiction.

I do congratulate you on your recovery. However, did you ever think to follow the instructions in the Bible? It is not too late now! The reason that you did not meet Christ is that you were the double-minded man written about in the book of James, you were the unbelieving Israelite who insulted God with lack of faith and therefore did not enter the promised land.
How about giving the Bible a try? Why not say, "Jesus, if you are real, you said, "Whoever asks shall receive." I am asking. Thank you for giving me eternal life!"
Conversely, do you not see how insulting it is to 'beg and beg' God to keep His promises? Either believe or don't believe, but do not insult God. He keeps His promises. I do not know what God you were praying to, but it was not Jesus Christ! He died on a Cross - a painful gruesome death - with the only purpose is that you may know Him as your friend - just by asking. I met Christ at the age of 17 and never have had a 'God, where are you?' moment. I am seated in the heavenlies with Christ.

I'm sorry that happened to you. That should never happen if someone is sincerely seeking to understand how God has shown his patience and love for man.
My guess why that happened is because the church's you went to were run my people who think you should do what they say with out question, and it sounds like you were questioning things and made them uncomfortable. I'm a Christian and I've had people ask me questions to things I simply didn't have an answer for but i didnt kick them out of my life, but I don't pretend to have all the answers. People say you should follow the church without questioning it, I strongly disagree with that, in fact if you read the gospels that's not how Christ talked, the words and and the miracles Jesus performed was the evidence he was giving people into knowing who he was. I don't know what church's you went to and got kicked our but not all church's are like that

I always thought “so god loved the world that he sent his only son as a sacrifice so we have eternal life through him” in the first place, how is sending a son to die a loving thing to do? Second, did he come back to life in three days, so doesn’t that contradict that whole sacrifice thing? And wasn’t it supposed to wipe the slate clean? I'm a christian and I love my religion. I also left christianity for 10 years and became a miserable atheist. I was going to become a mass shooter in 2023, but I decided I need to go back to God and my life is better than it has ever been. God has blessed me 100 times more than when I was a christian the first time. If you are free from religion, its just because you're such a low vibrational being and caught up in sins. You have demons on your aura. Thats the only reason people dont follow God.

Explain how an “oxygen starved brain” can see your own body lying in the hospital bed, go up 3 floors, see sneakers on a window sill, come back, and then describe vividly the sneakers to skeptical orderlies who went upstairs to confirm. How does an oxygen starved brain know it was one specific nurse who took her glasses and put them in a cabinet when she was flat lined? Thousands more such incidents in the book “Imagine Heaven. “ Lady drowned for 20 minutes under a waterfall after a kayaking accident. Visited Heaven. Lived, was told her son would die at 18. She came back, and her son died at 18, years later.

The easiest way for God to prove that he exists, is to simply reveal himself tonight, simultaneously, to Dan Barker, Richard Dawkins, Aron Raa and Matt Dillahunty. Then in the next week, these famous atheists would be giving compelling testimony about Jesus and life transforming power etc. But it doesn't happen.
God was fully revealed in Jesus Christ who rose from the dead and appeared before hundreds of people, many of whom died gruesome deaths rather than deny the truth that Jesus is alive. If you refuse to believe those eyewitnesses why would you believe Dan Barker, Richard Dawkins, Aron Raa and Matt Dillahunty?

We are nothing more than a camp fire. When our fuel is used up, or we are extinguished, we cease to be. All of religion was invented by those who fear their end and desperately want their life to continue. But more and more people have started to doubt. Thousands of years, and there still is no proof. Just hope and faith. And the notion that "The proof that God exists is there is no proof" worked for a while, but doesn't anymore. At least, not for a lot of people.

I urge you to listen to near d3ath experiences, people that have flatlined for up to an hour, their soul leaves their b0dy as they survey the room before either going to heaven briefly, or h3ll. They all say that it's more real than reality, the feelings, smell, sound, meeting new relatives, past pets, it's surreal.
All religions and atheists see either a section of heaven, or they see h3ll, and many of those people see Jesus, not restricted to just Christianity, all religions and atheists see Him.
Please look into it. Our lifetime is just a blink of an eye compared to the eternity waiting on the other side.

I've stated this many times but not as eloquently as you. Ironically I've been labeled weak kneed by theists for not believing in an afterlife, for not having the courage to believe in something (faith) that can't be proven. The absurdity of this accusation is that I have the courage of facing death without the promise of an afterlife and the theist is so terrified of death that he/she needs to cling to this false hope constructed in the minds of mere mortals a long, long time ago.

When Job started to protest after his "comforters" accused him of doing something wrong for this situation to befall him, none of them actually knowing what was really going on "above", God's response was a rebuke to Job, as he put his very own righteousness to question. Yes, God is bigger than anything, the creator of any and everything known, and unknown. You must remember, God returned all things lost to Job, he even had his complaining wife bear more children for him, but above all things, Job will be resurrected along with all of his offspring, in fact all people that have perished, no matter how this came about will also be resurrected.

There is no time outside of the universe, so 200 million years is the same as one second. Time and space only exist inside the universe, eternity is devoid of time! This is also why the Christian belief that Jesus rose bodily into heaven and is sitting at the right hand of the father can’t be true, because the creator exists outside of time and space, where no matter exists either, so Jesus’s body can’t exist there either. If you believe you have a soul or consciousness, it has no mass, so when you die it can be instantaneously transported outside of time and space.

I've always used an argument similar to Hitchens, that in order to believe in the god of the Bible, you'd have to also acknowledge that he arrived rather late in human history, remaining hidden and silent while early man worshiped a variety of false sky gods. Then when he did finally show up, he did so in a rather confusing manner, first in a pantheon of Canaanite gods, then as the chief of Yahwism, then the one and only god of Judaism, then further as the savior son of the Jewish god. Instead, to any intelligent and critically thinking mind, its clear that man makes up gods, has done so for 100s of thousands of years, and those gods have evolved like languages evolve, merging elements from other languages, borrowing words, etc..
