  • A collection of hunters undertaking one of the great challenges of big game hunting as they travel to Botswana to pursue the enormous and regal elephant. Botswana is home to the largest population of elephant in the world and hunting helps manage the wildlife by taking old bulls out of the herd and generates revenue for the local economies, creating a tangible incentive to deter poaching.

The fees they pay provide funding to conserve the elephants and their habitat. The Delta like many other places in Africa actually struggles with elephants overpopulating, and if that happens they end up destroying their own environment and the habitats of the other species being conserved. So the hunters assist with and pay for population control. Furthermore meat from most of these safaris goes to local communities which provides them with an incentive to look after the elephants and other game, it makes them more willing to report poachers and assist the rangers in these areas. Many Europeans and Americans know next to nothing about how conservation, especially in Africa actually works, but have the guts to think they can tell Africa what to do.

They are hunting mostly elder males which will have no major impact on population numbers in the long term. 1 young Bull elephant can reproduce with multiple females per year which produces many offspring whereas the elder males mate less often.
