My favorite stream in Missouri. I like running the Mepps with either a 2'' curly tail grub ot a 2'' paddle tail on it. The Nikko hellgramites are deadly.
I’ve been to Route 66 several times as well!!! Andy is great he sends out Christmas cards every year....that stretch of the big piney has some MASSIVE smallmouth....I’ve fished hundred of miles in Missouri and for quality that’s where I go.
@@bigmofishing where do you put in at my buddy told me go in at mason bridge and pull out at slab town I Can’t find slab town or mason bridge on my phone just wondering how you go in and out
Thank you! I couldnt agree more! Unfortunately I will not be making videos for a bit. Had to sell my recording equipment and baby due in april! I'll be back eventually!
My kid has never floated or caught a smallie, i wanna take him on this river but none of the canoe rental outfitters will even call me back or let me know if it’s available!! Where did you float from? Do you know any reputable places to rent from?
So this stretch if from Route 66 canoe rental. Amazing stretch of river to float and fish, i've fished with Andy (name of owner) for 10 years or so now. To be honest, I'll probably never go back there though, just dont like the quality of service anymore.
BigMOFishing seems the quality of service everywhere is lacking down there! You have been the only one to respond hehe. Are there any places to rent a canoe that doesnt suck? Or a decent stretch to wade/walk around and fish? We are headed that way Sunday night and planning on fishing all day Monday if i have to just start walking the dang river! Just need a good start point.
@@aaronturner3498 are you going on the big piney? If so route 66 canoe rental is great for last min trips, he's pretty flexible. Just not worth camping there anymore.
BigMOFishing thanks for the recommendation man my son and I had a blast today! Andy was great and got us on the water fairly early. We caught about 25 fish several different species and yes he got his first smallie!
Small mouth bass fever!!!!!!!!!!

Cool video, I have lived in Saint Robert for 20 years. I got some sweet spots, going to hit 2 of them this Sunday. Big piney and little piney.
Thank you! I've never fished the little piney. But the Big Piney was my spot growing up!
Good Video. I'm a trout guy, but looks like I may have to start on some small mouths. Thanks.
New sub here gorgeous smallies born and raised in SW mo some awesome fishing

That’s a beautiful river my cousin owns 40acres right on the Piney near Licking, I’ll be kayaking it in two weeks
I'm super jealous! I havnt been able to get out much (hence the lack of videos) due to having a kid. Can't wait to hit the river soon though!
@@bigmofishing I get it, we just moved back to our hometown where both my parents and inlaws live, built in babysitters, paddle away!
I really enjoyed this video, but I think I would have enjoyed it more without the music. I like just listening to the sounds of nature as people fish.
ayeeeee
Nice video brotha
Thank you!!
Looks like you took out at andys place. Where did you put in?
Yea I’ve known Andy for a very long time. He takes me I believe 6 or 8 miles upstream
@@bigmofishing thx. Good vid. Sounds like he puts you in at the cemetery. He just put us in at east gate 2 weeks ago
I spent 5 years at Ft Leonard Wood and miss fishing it
Thank you for your service! I try to make at least 1 trip on this river every year
I’m here at ft Leonard wood and I’m looking for some spots you got any ? I’m gonna be here till maybe April
@@FelixfishingCo the swift water down where you cross the river as you turn to go to the golf course was always a good smallie spot!

White bass have unbroken stripes. Wipers stripes are broken
So When did you find the monsters?
Not sure if you're attempting to be disrespectful. But clearly the title says "in search of Monster smallmouth". Cheers.
I'm down the street from this river.

This in Missouri
Man your camera is pristine!
Thank you! Just a go pro!
Curious, have you ever caught trout further upstream?
I have!
What’s the lure you’re throwing?
Crawfish Ned rig and a silver spoon mephs spinner
That was a white bass
Use bigger bait catch bigger fish
U need someone up front next time lmk.
