This song celebrates the city of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, Madinah, and demonstrates the excitement one feels when visiting Madinah - a sense of deep tranquillity, reunion and enjoyment. In Madinah is the mosque of the Prophet known as Masjid an-Nabawi, and it is also here that the Prophet ﷺ is buried. The green dome marks the position of Islam’s most sacred tomb. When one visits Madinah, it is ultimately to pay homage to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ at his blessed mausoleum. The feelings and emotions are profound.
This is the city that provided Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with a safe haven from the persecution of the Meccans, leaving behind him the plots to kill him and the constraints on his freedoms to worship and association and expression. Madinah is the place from which the Prophet ﷺ was able to realise his mission of caring for society’s vulnerable population, social peace, as well as establishing freedom of worship.
