  • Recorded Live May 5th, 2023 in Sandra G. Powell Recital Hall, performed by the University of Tennessee Percussion Ensemble: Annika Blackburn, Trik Gass, Burke Rivet, and Zac Swafford.
Program Notes: I originally wrote sink (2019) to be a fun math-rock inspired pop song to play with my friends. While writing I was consistently inspired by artists like The Kraken Quartet, TTNG, and Plini. Unfortunately, shortly after the piece was finished at the end 2019, there was a global pandemic. Luckily, it was only a few years later that my students at the University of Tennessee were able to finally premiere the piece. Many rhythms in the piece revolve around the number five, and while this can result in some tricky rhythmic passages, when well executed the end result is still easy and fun to groove along to. I am extremely grateful to my students Trik Gass, Annika Blackburn, Zac Swafford, and Burke Rivet for bringing this piece to life.
