I miss watching that team. Damn they were impressive. White Slaton Schmitt and Devine one of the best backfields in CFB history. If Rich Rod stayed at WVU we would have been a powerhouse.
Agree that WVU could've been GREAT if Rich Rodriguez stayed. The same could've been said for other coaches such as Greg Schiano, Charlie Strong & Brian Kelly but the Big East was not a desirable location so those great coaches really had no choice but to leave.
I was never a WVA fan, but I loved that 07 team. You're right, that backfield was the most fun thing to watch as a football fan. They had it all: power, speed, shiftiness, all on demand every play. I don't think we'll ever see a backfield quite that dynamic again. I really wish they had been given a shot at the natty in 07... that Pitt loss still pisses me off.
@@haroldfarquad6886 WVU. I don’t know what the hell WVA means, unless you’re one of those who don’t grasp that WV is a separate state from Virginia🙄🤦🏾♀️
Brought back so many memories of my childhood of watching them on TV and then immediately turning on my playstation running that speed option on NCAA football. Man the Golden Days!
The zone read at it’s finest. For a few years, that play took over college football and White and Slaton did it better that anyone. No one could tackle them.
Pat got hit so hard it KO'd him on the side line early in his rookie season with the Dolphin's. If I recall the concussion was so severe he was forced to medically retire due to that single hit
Pat White's problem was Bill Purcell!! He didn't give Pat White a chance!! I used to like that man but after what he did to Pat White. I wish he had disappeared!
I’m AN AVID LSU FAN AND I’M A REAL FOOTBALL HEAD! I HAVE TO ADMIT I USE TO LOVE WATCHING THIS WEST VIRGINIA TEAM, THEY WERE LOADED AND PROBABLY THE OVERALL FASTEST OFFENSE IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY AND THEY DEFINITELY SHOULD OF WON A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP THAT YEAR!!!
I remember Slaton and Pat White were must see TV back in the mid to late 2000s. I was rooting for them in there last regular season game that would’ve most likely sent them to the national championship game if they would’ve just beat Pittsburgh at home, and they lost 😞 They were that close…
I still say Rich rod threw the Pitt game in order to go to Michigan. He knew if we win that one we go to the national championship. He couldn't leave West Virginia after a championship win
WEST VIRGINIA SHOULD HAVE A REUNION FOR THIS TEAM AND I BET NOW WEST VIRGINIA FANS APPRECIATE THIS TEAM EVEN MORE BECAUSE TEAMS LIKE THAT DONT COME AROUND OFTEN, ESPECIALLY AT WEST VIRGINIA!
Man this group was a once in a (Mountaineer fans) generation team... White, Slayton, Schmitt, Bailey, McAfee, then Devine... 😢😭 the early 2000s spoiled me. Now we think it's a good season to break .500
They were definitely a lot of fun to watch but like most all Mountaineer fans I would love to know the truth about the Pitt game . I was physically sick for days after this game and it never dawned on me at the time that something was very wrong. There was definitely something very shady going on but I don't know who all was involved. I know this team could have beaten Pitt with their second string and I couldn't believe what I was seeing while.I watched. I would like to know if Rich Rodriguez was involved, what it might have to do with his decision to go Michigan when he had previously turned down the Alabama job. There are just too many indicators that this game was not on the level and I don't think you can convince Mountaineer fans otherwise. As much as White and Slaton accomplished in their careers in the most important game they were no shows and Pat McAfee missed two extra point field goals that would have given us a close win. I don't think I will ever get over that game it was one of the worst days of my life and I don't see us coming that close to a national championship in my lifetime.
Dude I still feel to this day something was up. No way in hell do we struggle that much against Pitt with that squad. Just look at the Fiesta Bowl against #3 Oklahoma, we manhandled them.
:( until pat got hurt and we lost to pitt and we didnt go to the national championship....probably our one and only time we will ever have a chance to get there :(
@@outwardpanicjoe8950 yeah i was a kid back then so i didnt really know about that so to me that chance was irrelevant and not as heartbreaking as 07....
Slayton and White were human highlight films. Great team.
Use to always play with WVU in NCAA back in the day.
I used to smack people with them on ncaa! People would underestimate them sometimes lol
They was hella cold back in the day
Still is
Still get chills watching this. These guys dominated my childhood tv screen

It makes me sad to think what could have been.

Let’s not forget Pat mcafee was their kicker

Definitely one of my favorite teams to watch back in the day. They had that crazy fullback schmitt too. Good times.
The run away beer truck
@@AffirmativeAffirMATE that dude was so awesome 😂🤣. Hope he's doing well these days.
Our favorite in Gold n’ Blue of all-time! Special time in WVU history!
These guys and Noel Devine were NASTY.
They had the run away beer truck too. This team was nasty. Dennis Dixon and them was good too.
What a duo they were, Mountaineer Nation loves and misses you guys. LETS GO!
Who ever played these dudes in these days were in for a long ass game… they were so much fun to watch. 😊
The Glory years of Mountaineer football. Dang, I miss them.
Should’ve won that championship
They was nice I use to watch them college games !!
I was so excited when Rich Rod came to Michigan, Even though there wasn't on field success, watching Denard Robinson was something magical
Was I the only 6 year old kid who just always used pat white & slaton on NCAA 😭
Nothing was like watching these two play ball together. Chills.
The most exciting and arguably the best duo ever. Afraid we'll never see players or this style of offense ever again at WVU.
Well be better this year
@@paulgoldizen7767 I hope so, but i don't see it. I predict 4 maybe 5 wins
I was always hoping but you’re right
That Left Handed Hand Off iz Something Else ⚡
Almost makes me sad as a WVU fan cause hard to tell if or when we'll ever be this good again !
It's never gonna happen 😔
Too bad they never won that Championship, so deadly on NCAA though
Haha, my friends and I basically considered it cheating to play with WVA around 07. Like playing with the Raiders and Bo Jackson back in the day.
Back when WVU football was something fans were proud of
Man I love Pat White. I don't understand why these two and Tavon Austin didn't do anything in the NFL. They were so dominating in college.
Sometimes people just peek in college
slaton had 1 elite nfl season
Pat got hit so hard it KO'd him on the side line early in his rookie season with the Dolphin's. If I recall the concussion was so severe he was forced to medically retire due to that single hit
Pay white was too small and not durable and didn’t have an nfl arm

Using them on the NCAA game was almost as unfair as Tecmo Bo.

I didn't realize how good that team was when I was 10 years old, bittersweet
The NFL is a whole different animal. Ppl need to realize that
I still say Rich rod threw the Pitt game in order to go to Michigan. He knew if we win that one we go to the national championship. He couldn't leave West Virginia after a championship win
These 2 should have been a package deal. They were telepathic
interesting upload CFB History. I smashed that thumbs up on your video. Keep up the awesome work.
This West Virginia team vs 09 Boise State woulda been a movie
Back when college football was everything
so much speed, great blocking though
I would hate to have been a receiver on this squad 😂
These dudes were cheat codes on the ncaa video game 🤣
If only rich rod didn’t throw the game against Pitt they wud have a national championship to show for it too
Go rewatch that game, rod didn’t throw shit, pat got hurt 1, 2 they beat our ass in the trenches. Wvu got whooped that night fair and square
Nah kid
Rod had his ticket to michigan already purchased bitch was on a plane 8 hours later
No cap

First two questions I have when I die. Did i get in? and Wtf happened with that game. I will never not think it was thrown.

2007 was a crazy college football year though. It was a number of teams that made it to #1 that got knocked off.
Tavon Austin just got signed to Seattle. Hope he Cab stay healthy. He's back with Geno.
13-9. Fix was on for that game. Players were paid.
They should have won the natty in 2007
They were DIFFERENT man smh
My how the mighty have fallen.
If only pat white didn’t get injured in that last game versus Pittsburgh they would’ve gone to championship game
I was like 723-0 with these guys in NCAA
