- I lived in Manila Philippines for over seven months during the pandemic of 2020-2021. Today I wanted to sit down and share my monthly cost of living in Manila Philippines. I will share my expenses from accommodation, food, laundry, phone bills, taxis and more!

This is certainly closer to reality... Props to you Pat. And I love that, the whole time that you were here, you have lived closer to being local than being a tourist
Thank you!
Love how you talk.. you're very specific on saying what you mean. Very direct. This is my 2nd time watching your videos :) God bless.. love from Manila
For 40+ years I have very close ties with the Philippines, spending more than half of my adult life living, working, investing, later retiring, and now snowbirding to the Philippines. My wife and I have lived in Ermita Manila high-rise condo for almost 20 years and also have homes in the province and USA. You are right on the money and provide some accurate information. Off the top of my head, it is very important to consider the Bureau of Immigration Fees, and especially if you are a senior, good expat healthcare coverage, and a big chunk of savings to pay for emergency situations. I have lived in the Philippines for a very long time. Over the years I have known too many foreigners in serious trouble because they lack the resources to care for themselves during a medical emergency. Great video with some good information.
very informative Max, although during the pandemic its hard to get around, but your journey is awesome. i kept it for my future journey. cheers
Thank you! I hope it helps!
New viewer.... great vlog- informative and helpful. 👏🏻👏🏻
Patmax, sincerely thank you for giving us great opinions of what is needed on a budget in the Manila, Philippine area. You really educated many of us. From US American Air Force Security Police Military Veteran who was station at Clark Air Base Philippines a long time ago.
Thanks for the cost of living info, looks like our dollars will do a long way in Metro Manila. I really needed that info as we plan to visit Philippines after the lockdown is over and get our C19 shot. Good luck
Thanks a lot! Very informative👍
You’re welcome!
I plan on going to Brazil someday; and the prices of things, depending on where one would be, are pretty good! I could get a hotel room for a month, and only pay what I would pay for rent in the U.S.! It's a nice advantage.
This is really informative esp to foreigners...
Good video. I just posted up in BGC, rented right in the heart of BGC, from another expat for 25k, not including utilities. But I spent 11 months on the islands, so I was having a sticker shock price for veggies etc. Though you are outside BGC, this pricing guide for the super market is legit. Cheers mate.
Thanks for sharing. You live a simple life yet very practical in budgeting your money. Great job.
Thank you!
very comprehensive video, very much appreciate it :)
Great insight, thanks Pat...🙂
You’re welcome!
Hows Costa Rica..?
I wish Pat you wont leave the Philippines but I hope you will come back soon because I can feel that you found a second home here in our country where people are genuine and friendly just like you! Good luck in your endeavors! May God bless you Pat and stay safe in your travels!
Thank you!
Thx for this great video very informative I have a girlfriend in the Philippines and I will be visiting soon I'm learning so much
I’m retiring soon, already set for $4k a month, sounds like I’ll be cool for 20 years at least. Thanks bru.
Thanks for the good info. Keep safe and God bless.
Good luck your journey here in manila philippines!
Thank you!
Thanks hope to see more vids Like this...
hello pat...good to see u again...to be honest if you have money you do many things to make u happy..thats the fact and reality of life....happy to see u again pat...keep safe always😊😊😊
Thank you for the kind comment!
Good video!
great content, your price range is on point, for groceries there is a near market in your location, although it's quite a walk, on the other side of boni station, then walk a little going north. but still you did get a good price in groceries.
Thank you for you’re input!
Great video. How is it going in Costa Rica?
Great Video. How much do you pay for health insurance? or medical dental expenses?
What is the name and location of the condo complex you are renting at? I cannot seem to find it on Airbnb. Great video, very informative. I’m now a new subscriber for you👍
Thanks Pat
If you know how to shop at a wet market....or the local markets you can buy cheaper vegetables and fruits....
That’s very true!
This is a good video that could be helpful really for other tourists to wants to experience the Philippines espeacially to Americans like you. Living there in Boni is a good choice. MET is such a money saver if you from point A to B of MRT. Question: Do you have to buy a reload able ticket or card to be able to ride MRT? Cuz it's on the news before. Also becareful in riding MRT cuz you've probaby heard of the employees tested positive.
Yes, you can reload your card or you can buy single ticket journeys.
hi, thanks for the video and details. hv abt medical and school expenses for kids?
working online in manila, do you find that there are power outtages? if so how long do they last?
Good video. Thanks! 💕🕵🏼♀️🇺🇸
Thank you!
Hi, Patrick Thanks for sharing. Is there any vacancy in your condo? I`m here in Japan and flying to the Philippines on Sept. Thanks in advance.
I've seen some "cost of living" videos from foreigners all around the Phl, and I must say that, that's surprising. It's pretty low for Manila. Even if there were two of you living in your air bnb (if it's also good for two people), just add maybe another $500, and that's still good.
But that is just comparing it to the other foreigners' cost of living in different areas in Phl.
we will miss u here in d philippines...
Is your apartment has one bedroom or two bedroom?...
How’s the mall below you has good restaurants and sports store and clothing?
I will miss your blog here in Philippines.when you go
Vlog
👍👍👍
My wife and I have a condo near by pioneer wood lands
OMG!! That grocery is so expensive 🤭😱
is your airbnb free electricity , wifi, water bill every month? if yes that could be fair price if not that's expensive.
Lobe you Pat.. 😊
Aren't you going to Costa Rica? Good that you seem to be stay in the Philippines longer.
As I mentioned in my live on Saturday, I have a few more videos to share of the Philippines before I start sharing my Costa Rica videos.
I paid around same for food when i was in Philippines
Everything good then👍
No! It’s the same, we pronounce data as “da-ta” here in the Philippines. I didn’t hear anyone say data that way.
Data or Da-ta, they are both correct.
@@sofronios.saguidjr1070 yes coz it depends on u , british or american
I want to live in the Philippines NOW!
as in NOW!
Smaller cities can be cheaper like cdo
One of the more realistic budgets, my girlfriend also lives in Mandaluyong, she’s a corporate banker. Your living more living life a city worker budget middle class. Nice vlog….at least you don’t have the Filipina beauty treatments cost 🤣😂🤣…my girl ..nails…hair ..facials …massages …ps I don’t support my girlfriend ..she’s self sufficient. Although I do send her flowers 🌺….etc…Filipina’s are hopeless romantics….like me 🥰..God bless 🙏…new sub.
Here in ph we say it data as deta day-ta.
Love you ❤
It’s very cheap, in Hillcrest the most cheapest barbers cut during pandemic is 15 dollars. Girl, just heads up mayor of San Diego Tod Gloria first LGBT government official and first man of color He is half Filipino, half Puertorican. Guys you have strong voice now.!!
are here in the phippines ? you know i want to meet you becouse i want asking you about living in russia ?
Healthcare/ health insurance isn't on there.
Is the accommodation cost is for one person only? How about if you're couple? GOD BLESS you Pay! Enjoy and be happy!
Two or more people can live here. It’s a large studio.
@@PatMaxAdventures thank you Pat!
$800 a month I am paying that here
I didn’t see cost of a gym or entertainment expenses for movies etc.
There has been a pandemic going on and these places were closed in the Philippines while I was there.
smart and globe not going to run for a month for a 20 DOLLERS
OK, I am thoroughly confused. Are you in Costa Rica, or are you still in the Philippines?
As I mentioned in my live on Saturday, I have a few more videos to share of the Philippines before I start sharing my Costa Rica videos.
@@PatMaxAdventures I am so sorry. I guess I must just not have noticed that bit. Thanks for clarifying!
@@matthewcarriuolo3855 It's ok. No need to be sorry ^^
$562 per month rent is very reasonable.
I felt the same.
Manila is way more expensive in terms of price in super market
What is the floor area of the condo?
The tiers have 50 floors. I lived on the 29th floor. Right in the middle of the building.
@@PatMaxAdventures I have a 30 sq mtr condo in San Juan above greenhills. The last time I was home alone without the spouse, I walked to Greenhills shopping ctr, to Robinson's Magnolia, the Mt Carmel church, SM Santa Mesa and as far as the Cubao shopping area. Being born and raised around the Metro Manila area before our relocation here in the US, the main complaint I have is not having a good walking path along the main streets where I wouldn't have to walk on the road or without risk of injury. I still enjoy walking around though and minimize getting in the car to get somewhere except going out of the metro. Glad you enjoyed your restricted stay in a one way or another.
Nice budgeting skills. Your groceries are cheap. Especially when buying from Robinsons. P1,500 os cheap for a weekly grocery.
It really is!
😂
Just saw your video! How big is your B&B? Studio? 1 br?
