Y’all don’t have to slander the other player to make debates.
Curry is more of a team player. He opens up the offense with his unlimited range and can create too. You have to guard him at half court and if you overcommit, he can swing to Klay. He will demoralize your defense with 35 foot bombs. While not quite as dangerous as Kyrie overall (he is still a good finisher/excellent ball handler), I think he contributes more in the grand scheme. You can’t neutralize his effect. Even if he’s off, *you can’t leave him open.* He can still contribute because people are worried about his 3. Have you ever seen someone dare Curry to shoot? Didn’t think so.
Kyrie is unguardable in isolation. He has the best handles and best finish in the NBA, probably all time. Kyrie can also shoot 40 percent from 3 (though not on Curry’s level). He is also dangerous in the clutch. Clutchest in the NBA in fact. As a pure scorer, Kyrie is unrivaled as far as skill goes.
If this was the 2000s, Kyrie would be better than Curry no question. But Curry made the game revolve around the 3. And as that stands, I have to give the edge to Steph as much as I love them both. Kyrie will probably retire a top 3 point guard. Steph will likely retire the best point guard.
They play two different brands of basketball. Curry is the guy to run your offense through. Kyrie is the guy to get buckets. Either guy can play the other role well though. Curry can score and Kyrie can pass. I just listed their main tendencies.
