  • In this video, Clay Hebert and Jessica Corley of Lake Charles Toyota look at a feature called Lake Tracing Assist. It works in coordination with dynamic radar cruise control to help keep the vehicle in the center of the lane.
Disclaimer: Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) is designed to read visible lane markers and detect other vehicles under certain conditions when DRCC is engaged. When potential lane departure is detected, LTA provides a visual warning and either an audible alert or vibration in the steering wheel and can apply a slight steering force. It is not a collision-avoidance system or a substitute for safe and attentive driving. Effectiveness is dependent on many factors including road, weather and vehicle conditions. LTA not available on manual transmissions. Feature availability may vary by vehicle and/or vehicle trim.

LTA can be activated without DRCC. However the sensitivity, centre on road and accuracy will be low bad control. LTA Use with DRCC will enhance about triple accuracy for LTA system. Toyota system on this LTA poor unless use together with DRCC

Hyundai/Kia also have the same thing called highway driving assist. But the difference is you can let go of the steering for almost a minute before it tells you to keep your hands on it

Press the lane departure button on the steering wheel to disable both features. If you don't know where that is, here is a video from Toyota: ruclips.net/video/gEGj-JvA5l0/видео.html

    Eureka!
Not that the two of you are foolhardy like I am but I have investigated and researched and did the hard work; I now know how to bypass the time restrictions, at least for my Rav4, on Lane keeping (tracing). As you may know, if you take you hands off of the steering wheel for longer than about six seconds, the bitch in the box warns you to put your hands back onto the steering wheel and TURNS OFF lane tracing. Solution?
Buy a small plastic bottle of Pom juice (the one that looks like a two ball snow man), drink the juice and then fill the bottle up with tap water. Place the bottle in the three o'clock position of your steering wheel, with the "waist" of the bottle resting on the cross bar. Test it out. It works for my Rav4, from the PA border all the way to I271. Loom mom, no hands. just monitored the lane tracing and traffic to stay safe. BE CAREFULL!!! My lane tracing looses concentration when white lines are weak or turn to black from tar. Only works with GOOD roads.
Kinga will have a "shit" if I tried it with her for any length of time.

    2 things:
    1) In order to showcase the feature working, please remove your hands off the steering wheel and leave them hovering close by (personally I'd just put them on my lap...don't be a grandma)
2- You have set the radar sensing cruise control, no need to have your foot hovering over the brake when on a highway.
Summary, it shows that you have no confidence in the system and I didnt see it at work. Now I have to go see another video because this one didnt work.

Antonio Zavarce it works pretty good at low speeds at above 55 and curvy roads like Freeways you have to hold it more

    • @viceisms16
      @viceisms16 4 года назад +4

Antonio did you even watch the video before commenting like an idiot?
      2 things:
      1) The system does not work unless your hands are on the wheel. This was explained, and demonstrated in the video.
      2) Her foot is not hovering over the brake when radar cruise is on, as seen in the video.
Summary, it shows you have no patience and are a drama-queen and therefore did not see it work. Good thing you felt the need to watch another video to show you exactly what you wanted to know in this one. If you only had paid attention.
      ..smh

Because these are salespeople from a dealership they must demonstrate the software in a safe manner. If they prove you can ride hands free for 10+ seconds then it may encourage buyers to treat this like autopilot and get hurt. They actually cut the clip short demonstrating how long you can ride hands free to give the illusion it only lasts 2 seconds, it's actually quite a bit longer than that, especially on straight roads where the wheel cant sense any counter torque from your hands.

That's a stupid feature. If it turns off, then the driver is more likely to crash than if it stays on and beeps every 10 seconds to inform me that it needs feedback. Hopefully that no brainer is noticed by the Toyota engineers at some point.

May I suggest an improvement to you video. When you’re referring to a particular icon or symbol on your huge display (which is cluttered with a whole bunch of symbols) it might be of help, especially for those of us who have just graduated from ten year old cars, to somehow point out the symbol in question with something as decidedly old-school as a lead pencil.
