    *Sound is reversed*
    First sound is when T and M valve close "ventricles contract" (pumping to the body)
    Second sound is when the PA and SA valve close "ventricles expand" (blood filling ventricles)
    Think about it like this:
    After the lub dub, blood is filling the ventricle while gathering "energy" to pump the blood throughout the whole body.
    Happy studying!

    Hi, i was wondering if this video incorrectly depicts the closing of valves timed to the 'lub' dub sound. It seems the Atrioventricular valves close during the 'dub' in this video.

    Great animation, but unfortunately the sounds are around the wrong way. The "Lub" should be the atrioventricular valves closing and the "dub" should be the Semi-lunar valves closing. *Flies away*

    Please clarify my confusion. For you S1 sound, the "lub", your animation shows that being the sound of the aortic and valve closing and the S2, or "dub" being the mitral and tricuspid valve closing. Isn't it the other way around?

  • @michaelmccormick5903
    @michaelmccormick5903 10 лет назад +5

    Warning! This video has the "lub dub" backwards! lub= AV valves closing, dub=SL valves closing.

    Can someone who knows tell me if I'm right. Before watching this video I thought veins were blood vessels that both take blood to the heart and carry de-oxygenated blood and arteries were blood vessels that both take blood away from the heart and carry oxygenated blood. So when I heard the pulmonary ARTERY carries de-oxygenated blood away from the heart and the pulmonary VEINS carries oxygenated blood to the heart, I was a little confused. So is it that a vein simply carries blood to the heart and arteries carry blood away from the heart, nothing more?

    Is it just me, or are S1 and S2 mixed up... I'm hearing S1(lub) and seeing the semilunar valves closing... that isn't anatomically correct. S1 = systole = SL valves open during ventricular ejection. Otherwise a really good video.

    the sound doesn't look like it matches the valve action?? shouldn't the first sound (lub) be the sound of mitral and tricuspid closing and the second sound (dub) be the semilunar valves closing?
