The Dutertes are known to have more open ties with the CCP's leadership, and they see Marcos Jr.'s shift back to the United States as a massive liability.

"Unity" was the only platform they ran on and yet they couldn't even uphold it. Honestly, their so-called alliance collapse is just so entertaining but also scary to watch. I'll be honest, I hate the Marcoses, but I hate the Dutertes more. Marcos actually did some things we wanted to happen such as Former Sen. Leila De Lima's freedom and acquittal after the older Duterte imprisoned her because she was investigating the Drug War mentioned in the video and actually fighting back China's aggression at the West Philippine Sea.

There were but the top 2 and 3 for president and vice president were even worse in my opinion. They're not in political dynasties but I didn't see them as reliable. The bottom placers were people whom I would have placed my vote on had they had a chance in winning. See, this is why pure democracy where everyone can vote (even the non tax payers) is bad. The problem with the Philippines is vote buying is very rampant. People sell their votes for p200 - p500 even if there's a law against it.
@@woodykusaki9970 You can't be serious. The bottom placers were Pacquiao who doesn't even know how to be a senator and Moreno who is a political leech. I can't believe my vote counts the same as yours.
Electing dynasties is the stupidest thing a modern country can do. Behold, a country who elects officials based on popularity rather than record and performance. Not regretting my emigration from the PH lol
the elected president, on most cases, is hardworking and progressive-minded, but it's the unelected highly influential people around him who are really scary
This misses a crucial point: midterm elections are right around the corner. They're basically campaigning early by turning up the rhetoric. Simple as that.
In my opinion: In the 2025 elections, I think the House of Representatives will remain pro-Marcos, or at least the (super)majority of it. The padrino system in the Philippines is too strong where, whoever the President is, the Representatives will ally with the President. The electoral system is too difficult to make voters elect who they actually want to represent in the lower House. The padrino system is also strong in the Senate. However, the current Senate still has pro-Duterte allies like Bong Go, Bato, and Robin Padilla, and even those lowkey ones like Jinggoy Estrada, Cynthia Villar, and Grace Poe. Ultimately, I think it is the Senate that will decide whether the Duterte family still have influence or not. I don't think getting impeached by the House of Representatives is enough to stop the Duterte family from running in the 2028 elections. If the Senate completely flips to pro-Marcos, not only will Sara get impeached, but she will most likely get removed from office too. Anyways, frick the political dynasties. Although I'm a bit thankful that Marcos is just a moderate politician, concentrating powers to certain families is not how politics should be.
Yeah reforms would be good. I feel sympathy for Duterte because he made the country safer but I don't mind Marcos extending his term if it will ultimately be better for us.
@@laurencechua922 Or atleast remove the bureaucratic policies + economic reform only. For now i dont think political reform (to parliamentary) is needed, because Malaysia also have that but still have corrupt politicians and some even end up in various scandals.
@P1utia Yes, even in Parliamentary democracies CORRUPTION STILL HAPPENS. Why? Well, PERFECTION simply CANNOT EXIST IN THIS WORLD, AFTER ALL. And so, there's definitely NO PERFECT SYSTEM. There's definitely NOTHING in this world that can cause a UTOPIA TO HAPPEN. That's why the very premise of COMMUNISM IS FLAWED, because it promotes an ideology that says a utopia is possible in our world, NO, IT'S NOT. HOWEVER, what's for sure is that there's a worse system, and there's a BETTER SYSTEM. And, the PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM definitely is THE LATTER because not only does it PROMOTE POLITICAL PARTIES MORE, but it also does PROMOTE ACCOUNTABILITY MORE than its counterpart, the PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM.
Well, in the first place, the reason why our President and Vice-President are now having a falling out is because even under a Presidential System, we don't really have strong political parties as even in electing our President & Vice-President, we elect them separately. And, even though we copied (or at least tried to) the Presidential System of the US of A, apparently we did an awful job doing so as in the US of A, the President and Vice-President are elected as a tandem, and they are elected from a single political party. So, ultimately, it is our CRAPPY SYSTEM that caused both families to have their own political ambitions because systems shape behavior, after all.
Our system does have merits, at least we don't have 2 main parties controlling our political system. I would like to think that we're at least a bit better off
@ArcAngelDeeznuts Actually, our system DOES NOT have its merits. The US Presidential System is still DEFINITELY WAY BETTER than the Presidential System that we ended up with. As compared to our system, even if in the US there's only 2 political parties that go at it with each other every election cycle, AT LEAST THEIR POLITICAL PARTY SYSTEM IS STRONGER and their POLITICAL PARTIES MATTER MORE than ours, and that's actually thanks IN LARGE PART to their quasi-parliamentary feature -- their electoral college system. See, the best move is actually to shift to the PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM, but the second best move would be to have a Presidential System that's 100% the same with that of the very country in which that very system originated from, IN THE FIRST PLACE. Oh, and put in place FEDERALISM, as well.
I was thinking about federalism but don't you think a future Filipino federalistic state could easily break off and declare independence especially Mindanao who's been wanting it? We don't have a strong military and our country is poor to warrant them staying.
Political Parties are starting to take hold though. Duverger's Law states that in FPTP systems, two main parties end up emerging, and Nacionalista, Lakas, and NPC are stabilizing to become the main national parties. Nacionalista, led by the Villars, has endured, now having 5 senators, in tie with NPC (which is also a breakaway from the NP), and has 36 representatives (also in tie w/NPC). They could've emerged early as the main party of the right, if Estrada didn't run and gave Villar a strong 2nd in 2010. NPC, led by the Cojuangcos and Sotto, is also stabilizing, looking to be the "neutral but allied to the administration" party, with the numbers tied w/NP. Lakas, led by Arroyo and Romualdez, has also proved to be resilient (w/three mergers in history), electing 2 presidents now, FVR and GMA on the party, Rodrigo Duterte & BBM by support and machinery, and 3 VPs (GMA, Guingona, and Sara Duterte). They also have 100 representatives, almost half of the House, with the speaker Romualdez also as their member. The Liberal Party could've took root as the main party of the left, due to its voter base being very cohesive, but the remaining opposition took the LP as a lost cause and left it, which is a mistake imo. The PFP, BBM's party, even with 36 governorships, is looking to be just a vehicle, and will probably crash and burn just like the KBL.
@woodykusaki9970 Yes, Federalism will help address that, but it also has to be paired with the Parliamentary System because it is the Parliamentary System, after all, that will ultimately make our political parties stronger and will make our political parties to have their own ideologies and platforms.
Political dynasties are good for no one but the families. If there was ever any amendments limiting a family for a term, I'd happily accept.

"Unity" was literally their only campaign platform and even that didn't make it to 2 years
As a Filipino, I simply do not know if I should laugh about this matter, even after the thousands upon thousands of memes in regards this. Lol... What's even more depressing is that considering that some of the brightest Filipinos already saw this coming during the elections, yet the masses where too blind to see it. The problem with our country is that our nation is simply ruled by dynasties whose only goal is to stay in power, thus limiting this country's success by internal conflicts within the government itself, matched with the moronic tendencies of the masses in politics, creating a perfect setup for stagnancy.
By "brightest", I hope you don't mean kakampinks. I've challenged every single one of them why they think Leni is good, Marcos is bad and not one of them can give a proper response.

Thanks for covering this topic. As someone who lives in the Philippines, I don't understand what happened. It just seems to happen too fast. And the media here doesn't have a timeline on what happened. So thank you very much for covering this.
Unity was their only platform and they even did not accomplish that 🙄
This is beyond appalling and shameful. I have predicted way back in 2022 that eventually they will tear each other apart. Politics is a very dirty word in the Philippines. People are not educated so they vote for people who are not worthy to be government. Institutions are weak and underfunded and ripe of corruption. So it's a historical issue that will not go away for a while.

The Uniteam "alliance" was only really meant to beat Leni Robredo. Rodrigo Duterte already said Marcos Jr. is "weak" way back in 2021.
During the 2022 election, there were even pro-Duterte candidates Bong Go his running mate Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa, only to back out when it became clear that Marcos Jr. is the clear favorite to win. Also Imee Marcos was one of the people behind why Bongbong and Sara joined forces.
Fake news lol. I think it's the other way around. Marcos actually talked about platforms during his interviews and debates in SMNI while Leni just talked about how "bad" Marcos was. She also had the nerve to say to attend debates and show some courage while she avoided SMNI debates.

Wow, there are a lot of Filipinos in Hungary nowadays, but I would have never guessed that they were secretly Hungarians all along
For the record, the root cause of this "ImpUniteam" rift would be Marcos Jr.'s shift in stances regarding the country's territorial integrity, especially with the rising cases of incidents towards PHL vessels, courtesy of the CCP Coast Guard and the Militia vessels they have been using as blockades. The Dutertes are known to have more open ties with the CCP's leadership, and they see Marcos Jr.'s shift back to the United States as a massive liability.

One angle not commonly discussed in this issue is this feud seems to be a malign operations conducted by China to destablise the Philippines and eventually come back into China’s fold
This feels so obstructionist to the real issues at hand. It's creating a bloody gridlock! At this point, we're used to just letting them duke it out like children. But really, we all saw this coming. Yet, we are still surprised because of how open the feud is.
I already saw this coming 2 years ago. The moment they were running together, in the election. I already told my friends that it was a marriage of convenience.
It's a Philippines Political Dynasty clash. North - South Regionalism Complex and, no side backing down.
Time will tell what will happen but for sure both of our leaders have enormous resources, men and guns to unleash hell on either side if it comes to that, I pity my countrymen especially the 31 million who voted for them.
What a stain on our democracy.
I'm so proud that I voted for Leni Robredo and not the UniThieves. This is such an embarrassment for the Philippines in the international stage.
Republican Manila has done too much damage to this nation, that they have corrupted other regions with their lethargy. For anyone who lives in the phillippines, were there not not candidates for President and Vice President outside those two families??
There were, but these 2 were the most popular. So instead of competing, by joining together their voters basically combined.
Definitely sounds like it would have been a better option
The other candidates were not corrupt enough. You have to be corrupt, so you can steal a lot of money that you can use to buy votes from the people you stole it from.
Welp they've seen way worse, as long as it doesn't affect the foreign investments, it isn't too big of a problem yet
Well, at least that Vice President can answer exactly how she differs from the President she serves with.
This misses a crucial point: midterm elections are right around the corner. They're basically campaigning early by turning up the rhetoric. Simple as that.
They mentioned it later in the video.
"going forwards". I presume you mean "in the future"?
In my opinion:
In the 2025 elections, I think the House of Representatives will remain pro-Marcos, or at least the (super)majority of it.
Although I'm a bit thankful that Marcos is just a moderate politician, concentrating powers to certain families is not how politics should be.
and yet so many filipinos say their country is on the RIGHT TRACK, will surpass thailand, Malaysia, Singapore...lmao
That will only happen if or when the Philippines will finally let important reforms happen.
No reforms, no surpassing of other developing countries in the region.
And, the PARLIAMENTARY SYSTEM definitely is THE LATTER because not only does it PROMOTE POLITICAL PARTIES MORE, but it also does PROMOTE ACCOUNTABILITY MORE than its counterpart, the PRESIDENTIAL SYSTEM.
despite it all, i somehow believe all of the drug use allegations mentioned
Never thought I'd find myself rooting for a Marcos
My God, this is like Dunes lanseraad or Westerosi Noble Families fighting each other.
Nakakahiyang natatawa na lang ako. Itong si Shimenet spoiled brat talaga 🙄
