People should start consider using a bidet. Sure stock up on toilet paper for longterm if you don't have water but assuming your utilities still work use a bidet they have some you can add on to your current toilet.

I am 65 and retired and live in a 62 and older or tardo building. I am more physically able than most of my fellow residents and I live on the third floor. I have always been stocked up on food and necessary supplies in case. I have been majorly stocking up on more food and sanitary supplies. NO ONE in my building is even THINKING about what to do when SHTF. I will help where I can but since these idiots spend all their money on cigarettes, beer, lottery tickets and the casinos, I am not going to be very helpful. I know it sounds awful, but you need to watch the Twilight Zone Episode, Season 3, The Shelter. One of the best episodes because it mirrors reality.

I keep a spray bottle of 1/2and 1/2 vinegar to water. I spray a flannel sheet or t-shirt cut into squares for when I urinate. Sometimes I spray a wash cloth to freshen up underarms and private parts. No, you won't smell like vinegar.

Great video! A couple of years ago, for whatever reason, I bought a book called Alone and Unafraid by Jason Hanson, a retired CIA officer. Lots of info on how to survive a crisis. I learned then how to make solid waste toilet with a 5 gallon bucket, trash bags, and a piece of that split foam pipe insulation, and picked up one of those handicap toilets at a thrift store. So when my plumbing backed up, and it took 10 days to get it fixed, I was prepared. He suggested using kitty litter after each solid waste session to control the smell. I am disabled, so I cannot safely go outside to pee, and that is what I used the potty chair for. Just hung a plastic trash bag off of it for the tp and wipes. I have a toilet paper holder stand that I placed by it and used the wall hung tp holder in the bathroom for the solid waste, plastic bag hung from it for tp. The cover that came with handicap toilet worked well for the solid waste bucket. I used a standard walker to stabilize the bucket. I also bought a book called The Lost Ways, with all kinds of info on how pioneers survived. I highly recommend both books!

You can now get TP as a compressed towel. Just add a tiny bit of water and believe me it's a tiny bit. Fairly cheap and take up barely any space at all. Strong and safe. Look on e-bay. That's where I got mine. Also good for washing your face and body. Lots of used. Thanks 4 all your help. We need to help each other and you guys do.

@@patriotchic3364 having used mine during a storm i will say unless you separate urine from poo there is going to be a smell issue. But if you keep it separated i would use kitty litter until i ran out then use the cedar. You should be able to fashion a urine diverter for nothing( empty bleach bottle or something like it) and that alone will stop most all the smell. The kitty litter will not only help dry the poo but covers the smell up. Cedar will help mask the smell. P.S. the gel absorbers are great for not letting urine slosh but useless otherwise. Don't bother wasting your money. And don't overload your bags. Lord knows you don't want to spill any of the contents. Stock 5 times more bags than you think you could use. They do go quickly

Crush cans? Why? Clean them and reuse them. Tuna cans are perfect for buddy burners. Make small rocket stoves out of them and small ovens. Take out the bottom and fit a bunch together to make a thin walled chimney. Small ones are great alcohol stoves. There are too many uses for them. Pop cans can be melted down and poured in molds.

I don't know if you have touched on what to have in the event of a tornado.
Listening to the governor of Kentucky speak, I realised, there are things one should have in their basement or storm shelter. Things I had not previously thought of.
Copy of drivers license, deed to your home, insurance policies, photos of all family members, extra medications, a book with all your phone numbers, etc.
There are towns where every government building is gone.
In that situation, would you remember how many mg of a certain medication you or a loved one take?
One write up said debris flew up to 30,000 feet in the air due to these tornadoes. Your personal information could land in another state.
I hope you will touch on this, if you haven't.
Merry Christmas. God bless your family

Use redwood chips from pet store, grocery, etc. (big bag under $10). Put handful chips in bottom of bag and when you do # 2 into plastic bag (use double bags), put big hand full wood chips on top and it's ready for next use. this will cause fecal composting which can safely be put into the ground or county land fill.

We're buying an Old Farm that has dependence on solar panels its off-grid it always will be there's no electricity out that way. They took the panels away So this first winter is going to be a tough but a good learning experience so it's in a snow area also we don't have solar panel battery backup or anything we're going to have to do some 12 volt Miracle work and rely off the wood stoves till the thaw. So our toughest find is going to be a drivable snow blower because our driveway is a one mile .7 yikes we will grow into it I've been off grid before but I wasn't as far away from civilization and I was a lot younger and healthier but I know I'm going to be healthier just getting out there. It's the people and the chemicals that have gotten to me

Put a tent over the beds and tuck it in.. sleep in sleeping bags. Heat up alabaster fruit or clay baking dishes not to hot but hot wrap and tuck under the covers will keep you warm... You tube has wire solar heaters with wire or cans and make them out of old windows and two by fours and paint flat black.. this will produce heat to come into the rooms.. when night comes.... pack the window with any kind of insulation you can find... quilts or foam or packing bubbles are great. If their is a pouch double wrap it in plastic and the heat that will come into that space can be pulled into the house... You Tube a girl is doing that and keeping her home hot all night... Also, water could freeze.. get a solar panel or use black hoses and make a solar heater for hot water or just to keep the pipes from freezing. and run the water on a timer every 45 minutes should do it... I will be praying for you.... was snow bound in the mountains for weeks without any help and it was cold....This works.... I did have a fireplace which helped with cooking, heating rocks, and staying warm at night. Good luck and God Bless..

Here is why there was a toilet paper issue. People went to work and they use the offices toilet paper so they didn’t keep that much at home because they were probably gone 10 hours a day. Didn’t need so much toilet paper at home once everybody had to stay home, they had to buy their own toilet paper And they had no idea how much they used other peoples toilet paper and they didn’t know how long they were gonna be cooped up in their own house so they bought way too much toilet paper. I am a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints as you guys are and we know that Many many years ago the profit had advised us to keep a year supply of food, clothing, and fuel when possible. Our family of 10 individuals had 18 Costco packs of toilet paper already stored in our food storage when the pandemic hit so we didn’t have to worry about toilet paper, we already had a year supply and we knew what your supply was because we homeschool the children. The only person who left the house was dad everybody else ate and went potty at home before the pandemic.

I went through Huracane maria, so i know a few things about this topic considering i was without water for 3 months...I had stored water...But we got hit by Irma first that knocked out power and water...2 weeks later we got hit by maria...I gave my bottled water to my neighbors because i had a berkey filter...I collected rain water to flush the toilets, shower and to drink filtering it through my berkey...Moving water for every task is a pain in the butt...Today i have a wind, solar and rain harvesting system that runs on 12v from wind and solar...I have been using this system for about 3 months now and it works great...Having running water during a disaster will be a huge time saver...Now i really feel prepared.

Back in the day, there were no toilets. If indoor plumbing stops working, stop pooping in the house! Pretty simple. Dig a hole and empty your bed chamber pot THAT has a lid every morning. Lid the hole, too. Sheesh! Don't bag it in the house! EWE!

  • @daisylazy80

Actually the reason for shortage was many fold... The types of TP used at businesses schools etc are NOT the same size as home TP and the TP companies not ready to switch over to other production for more ppl at home. Those work/school toilet trips not happening more ppl at home using toilet paper... Then I have the news constantly showing empty shelves and talking about TP runs... Ofc going to CAUSE panic buying .. it wasn't just crazy ppl overstocking 🙄🤪

I thought you would talk about how to dispose of the poop if need be, not just to bag it what good does that do, eventually it's going to become a big problem. What if it's a long term situation with no toilets working is there no chemicals to buy to desolve waste bi-products? You talk about stocking up toilet paper that's not important if there's no toilets running or working.
