The stall warning and recovery

- I describe here, the action of the stick shaker to alert the pilots of an impending stall of an aircraft. In this case, it’s the Boeing 747-8 ‘Superjet’.
I’m not a pilot but you are a very good instructor.
Rich L thanks
@@pilot_obet7815 very good!
Plot twist: he was actually in a 747.
dfb 999 good one
Pilot Twist
And the viewers went 😶
IT IS A B747!!!
It is a Boeing 747-8
i love how its so patient and kind to let you know to speed up!
If you are in a stall, pull the stick up!
- Manual of AirFrance 447
Actually they thought they were in a overspeed stall, which is something everyone (at least with an ATPL) knows, and the recovery is to close the throttles and pull up.

Thanks, was having this problem with my 747 a minute ago. Lifesaver!
Jokes aside, these videos are really interesting and well explained.
Thank you- my pleasure
literaly the lifesaver lol
Great video, simple and effective! Thank you Captain!
came here to see exactly why it's called a stick shaker, after learning about it from Flight 191's crash in '79. This was really informative, and your explanation was nice - visual and listening
Excellent demo, captain. Notably, the jet lost 4000 feet of its altitude to recover in clean config.
Great video sir. I hope I never ever feel that vibration on a plane!!!!!!
Why did I have to watch a 30 second long advert about a razor before this. I miss pre ad RUclips days 😢
Thanks! Amazing video. Great job explaining everything.
Your videos have no equal on the internet Captain.
Shut up
Tela bruh what
As always, an exemplary explanation!.....Thank you, Sir!
You should be official part of the MS flight simulator 2020 -- As a complete beginner this ratting sound had no explanation whatsoever and the plane just fell down like a stone. Now I know how to recover! Thanks!
roppongi765 my pleasure
My brain just kept going “pull up pull UP PULL UP YO PULL UP” as his altitude just kept dropping
Super great video!
Great video with great explanation
For some reason, when I lost my "thrust" performing a power-on stall scenario in my Cessna 152's (rented) I didn't get the fancy stick shaking...(probably bc I didn't have a stick just a yolk)...but I did place the place into a rather awesome "hammerhead" type maneuver mainly to rid myself from having my eardrums burst by the stall warning blaring aka horn...
Anycase, if I am ever taxing in front I apologize in advance for delaying your take off due to the wake turbulence generated by the lawn-mower with wings... JK of course...I stumbled across your channel and have been binge-watching...it is now officially 2022...I've been a private pilot in the states for 35+ years...and it's been a very long time, like 35yrs since I've been in a 152 too...but those were the good old days...
PS. It's kinda embarrassing on take off as I am attempting to reach altitude I notice a formation of geese flying past me...LAUGHING...I was expecting one of them to hold up a sign like a cartoon...
Ha ha- that gave me a chuckle too. Thanks 😊
thank you captain, that vibration is a great warning for our pilots thank you for
the information , great flynig
Thanks, just the thing I was looking for.
I just discovered your channel, I really like your videos Captain !
Retrowave Synthwave Music - Manoa Salmon thanks
Great example, thank you
Great info, and your voice is quite nice.
I love this thank you for your knowledge 😊 I play flight simulator on Xbox and this explains a lot for me, it’s also handy to know not that ever we’d ever be in this situation but handy to know in real life too
Awesome info
Very excellent flight instructor
Dave Hans thanks
This is amazing thank you for showing us this I was wondering what it meant by the stick shaker
thanks a lot Captain
Good presentation 👍
Somehow missed your message all this time. Thanks
this is really cool
Can I ask you to explain what happened to aircraft in specific accidents. You have a knack for explaining things.i have seen videos of planes with a stick shaker going but did not know where it was.
God bless you Captain. Love a man who exudes such confidence
haiwa tigere yeah sure- I’ll get to it soon and explain
Gracias 👌
May we have a overspeed/high speed stall demonstration so people with Flight Simulator X knowledge can stop bashing real professional pilots pulling up with a stall alarm?
On some planes if the stick shaker activates and the pilot still does not respond in time and the speed bleeds to a certain threshold above stall speed the stick pusher pushes the stick forward to unload and initiate a recovery which still requires pilot to complete with added thrust and potch control or else enter secondary stall. The pusher is incorporated in T-tail planes which have a nasty tendency for deep stall. The amber whiskers above the pitch bar(which descend as you approach stall speed also change colour in some aeroplanes from Green to amber to red depending on percentage away from stall speed. Stall recovery is by unloading to reduce angle of attack and once speed is recovered and accelerating recover pitch and power. Premature thrust increase can lead to a secondary stall and the whiskers will re appear. Whatever you do, do not let the stall progress into a spin! There is a very good video during 747SP(refer to link below) test flights which on purpose put the 747 into a full stall. The test pilots praised the 747 for its docile stall recovery characteristics. The same can not be said for the 727 although it has a powerful lift augmentation system on its wing design. In UK the 727 would not ve certified with stick shaker alone. It had to incorporate a flight test with s stick pusher too!

Love your videos cab than I have done that I have a flight simulator also at home and I have done that on the 747 and also the DC 10 stitch shaker disengage auto pilot full throttle forward pushing those down recover climb back little by little later captain
Short but informative
mantap kapten🤗😊😁
it makes me sadly remember the AF447 crash.....
You should do overspeed warning!
its my dream to fly this beauty of a aircraft since come on its beautiful
(did i mention that you explain it very clearly?)
TheMomentChannel thanks
This is like video games, level 10, beating the final Boss
if only the Captain of Colgan 3407 had seen this.
Or AF447
@@Robert_N 447 is a very special incident. not entirely the pilots fault but still a screwup nontheless
@@iamdefective1912 Actually they thought they were in a overspeed stall, which is something everyone (at least with an ATPL) knows, and the recovery is to close the throttles and pull up.
@@P3DJumboJet many thanks
Ok you helped me to pass my mobile game stage
does the stick shaker/pusher not aid the pilot by pushing the control column forward on recognition of the stall or it's the PF's job to do that
The one that pushes forward to aid the pilot is called a stick pusher. They are installed mostly on ‘T’ Tail plane aircraft such as BAe146 because they can easily enter into what is known as a deep stall.
Obetmaz 747 makes sense now. I've witnessed an Avro-RJ85 preflight and it quickly pushes forward. Thanks Cap 👍
We Need a UPRT Video Obet.
Better than watching va movie!
hace tanto ruido que dificulta la comunicacion....es un caos junto con las alarmas
I hear you don't want to apply thrust instantly because that could cause another nose upswing.
Absolutely, mentor pilot clearly told that the thrust has to be applied gradually
@@shaikhmullah-ud-din1964 mentour flies a 737 which is much lighter than a 747
TechMantra correct
I follow you both here and tictok
The angle of attack is also high
Hope you don’t crash boi
Is it important to pitch down and *wait* before applying thrust from the engines?
I think Yes. it kind of makes sense to gain some speed by putting nose down first rather than applying thrust (if you have sufficient altitude). I'm not sure though
Well, what do you do if you have a stall warning and the terrain warning at the same time 🤔💀
Do the pilot get fired or warning notice for not paying attention.
How does the stick shaker principle work on an Airbus aircraft since those do not have a yoke. Do their side sticks shake too?
Airbus aircraft don't have a stick shaker, they have a "stall stall (alarm)" callout
Proper reaction in your situation but that wasn't a full stall actually. i did stall recovery with aviat pitts in msfs 2020. And when the speed is slow the plane starting to shake and then it falling from the skyes with deep dive straight to the ground with rotation. in this situation two rules is working 1) bring yoke to neutral position" and 2) reduce power to 0. Once plane stabilized hit the full power and get out from the stall. Works perfectly every time with small planes.
But I didn't tried to stall b747-8 so i don't know how it will react, it's alot heavier so it will reach Vne alot faster which it's not a problem in simulations, but in real life it's extremely dangerous, so using speedbrakes during fall in full stall is probably a good idea. i also tried to stall a320neo, and it is pretty much imposible to stall it because of the protections that will lower the pitch automaticly. And i think b747 alos have this kind of protections, at least i saw them in autopilot mod when tried to climb FL410 fully loaded. At FL 400 plane struggle to keep proper speed and it's automaticly lowered the pitch. so i decided to choice FL390.
Stiil very nice video. thank you. Now i know for what are those small boxes.
Captain, when the "airspeed low" warning is gone off, aeroplane start to vibrate, it means the aeroplane is start to fall down ?
No, plane starts to vibrate before the stall, when the airspeed is low and plane is close to stall but not stalling yet -as shown in the video. If it slows down further (where stick shaker comes on), it goes into stall and plane is basically falling
Its game?
Thanks, later!
747 yesssssss love it🥰 stall stall stall stall 🤭🤭
A 380 800 💖💖💖💖
How to recover from a stall.
1. Apply maximum throttle.
2. Tip the nose of your plane slightly downwards.
arnold friends?? commando!!
Captain Holt!?
There is almost no way you can miss the vibrations of the stick shaker
AF447 "hold my stick shift"
Casually just makin a youtube video
How Nice.. :D
I want you to be my teacher when I am ready to become a pilot we need more men and women of color pilot's👍👍
Romeo James thanks
I did not realise what color his skin was until I read your comment. Why point it out? Are you racist or something?
So what. Happens if you want to trim and you lose your engines at least one of them
You can still trim.
@@pilot_obet7815 ok thanks captain

How do you know two lesbians have been flying the airplane? Both seats are scooted all the way forward and the stick shaker motors are worn out.
I wouldn't like to listen to this in a real airplane.
I never knew Tracy Morgan was a instructor pilot
