- Honda E-CLUTCH on the new 2024 Honda CBR650R.
How does it really work? Is it like a quickshifter?
Actually, the Honda E-CLUTCH does the clutchwork for you!
If you slightly hold onto the clutch lever, you can feel the bike pulling the clutch for you! It works like a dream, and it is super smooth!
What are your thoughts about the Honda E-CLUTCH?

What are your thoughts about the E-Clutch?
Hvorfor ikke kjøpe en automat i stedet?
@@ZD-gj6ttjelly?
@@ZD-gj6tt Nevn en sykkel som er automat (som du faktisk har lyst på)
Something every bike should have. Manual clutch is unnecessary.
Can you compare this to quickshifter?
Finally someone explained it clearly. Thanks.
I got you!
@@QualityMuffin Yea, now i finally got it.
BEST SHORTEST EXPLANATION!!!
This looks like it would be great for dealing with heavy traffic in cities. The clutch pull on my Multi is heavy and makes city riding tiring.
Thank you for the clear and fast explanation!
Hate it. Why bother learning skills to then get used to this and forget them all.
Just been on a test ride ! Ordered it immediately after I got back to dealership
It’s perfect 😂😂😂 I stall 60% of the time in uphill start so this would help me 100% 😂😂😂
ngl, if you keep on stalling I'd learn clutch control. Unless you're on a little 50. Then gl. A 125-250 is very hard compared to bigger bikes, like a 650. But doable with enough experience. You'll get there.
Question: how does it perform when going uphill from a complete stop?
i like it no need more clutching so easy to handle and drive!
That was trippy 😂
love the video and bike. i like this idea too, my only concern is reliability. i’m an advocate for less moving parts as added complexity leads to more avenues for failure. how long will it last and if it fails what other functionality is affected. can i still operate the clutch fully manuall if it fails? i’m sure honda has taken great care of making sure this technology is reliable but i cant help but wonder.
What happens when you put it into second gear and give it some gas? Will it only rev up the engine or will it smoothly release the clutch?
0:20 hey dude, where that smoke come from?
He was smoking
When you brake is necessary to down shift,or the e cluch will do it automatically?
Do you get a click sound coming from the front when you hit a road cavity?
How about dumping clutch for wheelies? will it still work as a normal clutch if i wanna pop a wheelie?
yes, pulling the clutch lever deactivates the eclutch momentarily
Yes!
Chav 😂
It almost reminds me of a Volkswagen DSG transmission. It’s an automatic that can be manually shifted at any time, when you come to a stop it automatically puts the vehicle back into 1st gear, etc
It's more like one of those AMT system
sorry im a biker noob but what was that puff of smoke before he set off at the start is that normal ? coming from the front ?
That´s water evaporating from the engine/radiator. The bike was probably parked outside
for downshift, do you need to toggle the gear lever with gear matching or it will automatically downshift once you slow down?
Hey! And if want to rev with the e clutch on what you have to do ?
The 650 doesn't have throttle by wire, so during downshifts you need to blip the throttle by yourself. During revving while stationary or going along I guess you need to hold down the clutch
cool
So far it looks like they are only available in Europe do you know if they have an official world wide release date? Also wondering how crash durable they are. If you drop your bike on the right side next to the curb and it just so happen to the perfect position to hit the e-clutch box would it be a $2000 repair / replace?
They're released for all markets except North America. I think Honda is skipping us for this year and we'll probably see this bike in the states in 2025. I believe they've done that with other bikes in the past.
why have clutch at all?
i need this so bad, iam gonna buy this as my first bike, so good
You can buy it as your first bike, just don't be too throttle happy and learn on an empty car park first.
@@user-iu2om5mm6y iam gonna be learning on the driving license course, they have yamaha MT 07 naked, iam driving scooter 125 until then
You need to learn how to use your clutch
@@Z2Z9 i will, at driving license course, but after that i dont need it
@@drozdforce8853very bad mentality, learn how to drive with the clutch for atleast 3 months
So it’s like a sequential gearbox with the E-clutch. Is there a way to turn it off?
Yes you can turn it off, also you can just use the clutch normally without issue, it always lets you override it. Ultimately though if you are going to just turn it off you don't buy it as it's a waste of money.
Hi have you checked the e-clutch mode? I think it says hard normal soft or something like that. Im wondering what’s that for? like if it’s on high rpm and the mode was set to “soft” it will somehow rev match? while if it’s “hard” it’s just gonna engine break like a normal downshift. Anw cool bike I’m buying this in june.
Hard or soft is actually for the gear pedal, yup! You can adjust your gear pedal whether you like to stomp it hard or stomp it soft.
Oh shi this comment was 4mnths ago, you probably figured it out by now 😂
Anyone else hear about the ‘24 CBR650R coming to the US in September?
why dont they add an actuator for the shift lever and have a full automatic gearbox
because some people wanted like whant the clucth they driving or this is new technology that help begginer rider that who dont know how to use clutch
So then what will left liver gonna do now ..
Can turn the e clutch ON or OFF manually?
Yes
woooooaahh
Why does it come with a clutch then
when you pull the clutch lever the bike overrides the eClutch system, and functions like a normal bike. Maybe you want to do a wheelie or something
e clutch is prolly a mod
It's a win-win whether you want to use the clutch lever then use it, It's give you choices. And improving something is not new that's how world works.
For people who can’t decide. Or when you sell it you can find more buyers.
🤯
🎊🎊🎊
its look like automatic clutch no need clutch anymore like what im using in honda wave 125 no clutch
I also use my dirtbike without touching ever the clutch (just when I stop/start)
sa wave 125 kelangan mo irelease gas bago mo malipat sa gear.. e clutch no need
Imagine those people got used to this and revert back to a normal bike
so..its just an automatic with the option to use it manually if desired. ....
Semi-automatic 🎉
No, it`s a manual with an electronic clutch. You can read it on the Honda blog they explain it technically how it works.
@@s7efan90 Its an interesting feature.. checked out a video of it and its nice to have (and good its possible to turn it off as well...)
but its fun using a clutch.. always has been. its literally automatic now
not in a city
So i can drive this all day without a single touch for the clutch?
Yup!
Kan man kjøre den med automat lappen?
Du må ha MC lappen.
You showed me what it does. You didn’t show me how it works.
So it is basically useless. It is easing the riding in heavy traffic.
Supermoped
The e clutch makes the right side of the bike look ugly.
the clutch lever is useless😅
Nope, you can disable the e-clutch if you miss using the lever like a normal bike 😂 e-clutch is optional which is great for any type of riders.
