Are the people who do good in the world, only do good because it makes them feel better or are they still willing to do good for others even if they get no personal satisfaction? Does good deeds matter if the intention behind them is corrupted?
Didn't he do some good things too? He ended the senseless killing in episode 4 (go watch it again, the Frontman IMMEDIATELY calls it off as soon as he claims to be scared, it's basically the biggest hint I got that HE is the mastermind, because the Frontman doesn't care at all when a woman only moments earlier begs them to stop and is beaten to death). And I don't know, but I think when he made that bet at the end, didn't he say "If ANYONE goes to help the drunk, you win"? To me, that was like a sign to Gi-Hun to go downstairs and help that man. And he did see there are still good people when his presumed son helped him and treated him like one of the team during the games:).
Watching Ali realize he had been betrayed was one of the most heartbreaking things I’d ever seen. He’s not mad, he’s not pleading for his life, he just stands there, in absolute shock and disbelief. He only gave kindness, but just ended up getting shot by a faceless guard like all the rest. God this episode got to me.
there’s a theory that ali is still alive. notice how the old mans death wasn’t shown but he lived.. ali was always nice to the old man who is indeed the creator of the game.. the only death we see in the marble episode is player 067 partner.. ali’s death was never shown therefore we cannot deny or accept that ali is gone just yet.. season two is on its way 🙏🏽

Another key element of this episode was the intimacy in which it was played together. Most of the other games shared a somewhat frantic element given the time. The 30min length and improvisational tone gave the game weight, as they sat gambling between death or life. All three of the main stories were deeply sad but one other slept on element is the tragic husband/wife pairing! Just playing their game somewhere out there amongst our main characters. It created such dense atmosphere caked with real heartfelt feelings of mortality. Masterful art
Aaaw, made me emotional reading this. The first one means the old man was gonna die, and the second one means Ali died (my favorite) and the last one means idk the name sacrificed her life for the other.
Was the most shocking when you went in spoiler free realizing that they weren't teaming up but competing with each other. Was the worst for the husband and wife for me on this one. Would of been a really difficult scene if they included it.
Even though they didn't show the husband and wife during the episode, I just knew that either of them would end up killing him/herself.....which in the next episode happened. Absolutely depressing and sad.
I don’t get though why the husband and wife didn’t just opt out and refuse to play the game, therefore sealing both of their fates and neither would have to live with the guilt and sorrow.
Slight spoiler alert here- there's another death in this scene that people dont talk about. And thats Gi-hun losing his integrity in trying to use Il-Nam's dementia to beat him at the game. Even though he was caught, he had to leave Il-Nam facing the fact that he was just as inhuman as everyone else when it came to winning.
@@sirisaacclarke4964 wdym suddenly? Gi-Hun was always a bit of a jerk, even Episode 1 was a good show of his character, stealing from his mom's credit card and using it on gambling, going back to the cashier after he lost his money to beg back his tip money, immediately wanting his money back from 067 after she frees him. Gi-hun is a friendly guy but when push comes to shove he will also care for his survival more than anything. Gi-hun was losing hard to the old man and was near death before he showed his one marble, so when the opportunity presented itself, he took it. The difference between him and Sang-Woo was what how they felt about their actions. Sang-Woo couldn't even face Ali after betraying him and just left and after the game tried to rationalize his actions, while you can see Gi-Hun tear on the inside while conning the old man and cried his eyes out of shame when confronted and forgiven.
I cried like a baby for 20 minutes straight at the end of this episode... It was cruel because of the betrayal , the protagonist lying to save himself and so on... But it also reminded me of my grandpa that died when I was 5 years old and used to play with me and gave me some of the best childhood memories !
I remember watching episode 6, bawling all the way through, crying harder than I've probably ever cried in my life. After I was finished I shut the computer and just absolutely sobbed my eyes out. This music, as simple as it is, is probably what made the scene hit me like a train when I watched it
The perfection in which they delivered this episode is a testament to the good writing of this show. This episode started with showing us that people would die. And for 50 minutes we were there anxiously waiting. And then it started. Blow after blow they delivered to ensure tht even the hardest of shells crack. By the time the story arrives at ill nam we have been entirely softened and then they hit is with probably the saddest part. A man lying, but feeling bad about it because he needs to do it to live...
“Sang Woo? Sang Woo? I’m done with this side!” “Sang Woo!” *grabs the bag of marbles and removes all the rocks* *gunshot* “Player 199, Eliminated” “Don’t you remember, that you said we are gganbu, right?” *Player 456 sobs* “Mm.” *Player 456 Continues sobbing* “Player 1, Eliminated”
This was probably the episode that actually made me more teary. Because during this one, I think the more innocent ones died. You have to understand, Ali was about to win, he had all 19 marbles and yet he still hesitated and agreed to the plan that would save Sang-Woo, too. Meanwhile, the very person he tried to save, stabbed him in the back, figuratively speaking. Ali was never once evil. And Sae-Byeok's partner, Ji-Yeong, sure she was a bit... cold and at times the person who always wanted to pick an argument, and yes, she did... kill her step-dad or in any case the monster that was her parent, but life hadn't been kind to her. And yet, she still gave Sae-Byeok a chance. Both Ali and Ji-Yeong, they were the players that wanted to save others' life instead of saving their own lives and be greedy and cruel and all for themselves. Because all the other ones caved in, when put to the test of fear of losing their lives. These ones didn't cheat, didn't manipulate, they weren't hiding, never. And then would be Sae-Byeok also, who when offered the chance to win and live so easily by Ji-Yeong, guess what? She wasn't greedy, she didn't abandon so easily, she didn't take the chance immediately to save her own skin. In fact, she fought with Ji-Yeong, disliked that she was being let to win so easily, it felt like cheating for her. I don't know, all the other players, had much more selfishness and greediness to them. Even Gi-hun, who still was a kinder character, in the end. But he was ready to let the old man die. Albeit, that old man was dying and he knew that nonetheless. But still, it was a dirty thing to do, to cheat like that. Then again, I can't judge. I mean, the situations they were put in, in all honesty, who could blame them? He also nevertheless, still had the vice to gamble a lot and be an irresponsible father before that. But, I suppose, he did value things and people more after that. But the price was all that trauma to haunt him. Man, what kind of a lowlife scumbag do you have to be, to even imagine and host such f*ed up games? Psychopaths. I don't care if the players are sinners or not. Starting from the principle itself, it's just f*ed up. Why would you do that? In all honesty, I still want to know if that cop is alive or not if there's a second season. I mean, after having watched season 1, if it were to end with just season 1, then his character would be deemed as pointless to the story. It had no value, just with season 1 alone. Because yes, he was a cop, but did he save anyone or help them? Did he manage to send his evidence successfully to his boss? Judging by the fact that the games still didn't stop, then I'm guessing no one found out. They were still being carried out. And his brother didn't right his wrongs. And if he found him, his mother would never know. And she now has two missing sons. So basically, his presence in the story of season 1 had been pointless. Since it helped no one.
The players were given 30 minutes, more than any other limited time game. Even with how cruel and sadistic the front man is even he knew *they were gonna need time for this game*

So anyway, I started cutting onions
"Be careful captain, loved ones always deal a heavy blow"
i wish this song to be played at my funeral
Saddest sentences in squid game
1.I’m honored that we were partners
2.Sang Woo,Sang Woo
3.I remember my name now,it’s Ill nam,Oh Ill Nam
Quand la douleur va trop loin cette musique m'a fait pleurer
Nah, cause when Ji-yeong
gave up her life so that Sae Byeok could continue on, that made me cry so hard, as much as I saw Ali get betrayed.
Rip :(((((
I rarely / never cry, but this scene, this got me.
Damn, mom stop cutting the onions.
God this scene was just... my heart... i cannot do this rn... 😭 😭
I watched it and enjoyed. The second time I watched it? The greatest TV show ever.
Women: have you ever felt sad before
Men:
A good soundtrack and great acting can throw y’all off
it just gives me memories from the game "marbles", gosh- Oh Ill-nam , Abdul Ali and Ji-Young, are so memorable..
“Hey i remember my name now. My name is Il-Nam… Oh Il-Nam……… ( gunshot) (Player 1… eliminated)”😢
The guts it took for the writer to have Gi-hun take advantage of Il-nam in this scene, and to capitalize on it by the end. Not a perfect, clean moral lesson.
Je l'écoute en boucle. J'aime beaucoup. Cette musique qui reste triste représente à mes yeux l'humanité.
everyone cried here
Episode 6 made me cry my eyes out lol even rewatching it knowing what happens at the end I still teared up

This one cuts through you deep...
This bit made me cry
This should be the national anthem for “Good days are all over, things will never be the same again”
é o fim
na vida, reclamamos até das coisas boas, mas quando menos se espera, tudo acaba, e as coisas que víamos como ruins, finalmente conseguimos enxergar o lado bom;
mesmo tendo consciência de que vamos sentir falta de algo no futuro quando perdermos, parece que a vida simplesmente manipula nossa mente e nos faz viver do mesmo jeito, seguindo o mesmo roteiro do dia a dia.
I'm honored that we were partners......
This sounds amazing
Can I cry now
