Spanish Stroll was a big hit in Europe, the album Cabretta (which i bought at the time) sold good as well; Willy was popular in Europe. Tight band, lot of soul in his music.
Love WD and or Mink and I never say this but I truly think he is lit here...bless em...he was amazing. Conversely, I did see a interview in his indigenous phase that was so on point its unbelievable. Miss you WD.
me 'n either i avoid Iistening to music focussing on Iyrics anyway i learned early on as a kid i feeI i can enjoy something i like longer before it gets staIe if the lyrics as a whole stay vage to me and i don´t really care
Very brave of him to stand up and be counted.Honest about all.You rarely get mixed up with that bad girl Heroin and come out the other side unscathed.Willy paid for his weakness.A fantastic musician and this song still rocks today.A massive shame really so may he RIP.We can only say thank you for his music.
He's the one that "got away". In many ways a giant of music, but riddled with bad, bad luck, from drug addiction to a terrible record company, Capitol Records, that had no idea how to present him.
Great observations there. Capitol was clueless after the Beatles and Beach Boys made the company rich. By the 1970’s, Capitol ran through a string of mediocre artists who amounted to very little. I think Cap was too stodgy when it came to finding and promoting edgy acts like Willie.
I was watching Lou Reed videos and someone wrote that he seemed like a cool guy and I wrote check out Willy Deville. I think they both had similar talent and song writing philosophies.
The old cliche about a definition should include....if you look up the word 'COOL" in the dictionary and it doesn't have Willy DeVille's picture there, you have an incomplete definition. Our Willy was the coolest.🌹 With or without the drugs.
That was pretty funny, actually. Considering our news outlets in the past always told us heroin was a "Dutch" thing. I don't think Willy had a mean bone in his body, so yeh, just being a bit funny. I hate the mainstream media, actually, and haven't listened to them in years.
I sat next to Willie (aka Bill Borsey) in Grade 8, and he already looked like this but without the facial hair! Always in his own world, so maybe he came to school high on H? Not a good student for sure.
Willy was the best of the best…since the beginning & for always.♥️💫💥
Wow... Wat ziet Willy er goed uit in deze clip! Na alles wat hij heeft meegemaakt, ongelovelijk. Great artist! ❤️🙏🏽 R.I.P.
Desde la primera vez que los escuché, siempre, siempre ha sido de lo mejor, para mí ❤🙋♂️👍💯🏍️
Wow 😄 love that man soooooo much.
It were the most amazing concerts I was grateful to be❤. He performed in Hamburg and we did not miss one of them. R.I.P. Mr. Deville🙏
Thanks for this! I’m really looking forward to Heaven Stood Still, the forthcoming documentary about him!
Indeed this band was one of the finest
Who's on piano?...he's killing it!

I loved this song as a kid, still love it now, I didn’t know what it was about until now.

Ich bin so dankbar für all die unvergleichlichen Songs, die Willy uns hinterlassen hat.

I loved him so.
America was robbed by Capital's bad decision.

Very honest man, real shame
Bedankt voor het posten weer. Mooie man dat.
I thought of Lou Reed when I saw this. I've never heard of them before but I love them 💗.

watch Italian shoes, one of the best songs he performed !!!!!
Als Billy Idol dit jaar weer niet in de Top 2000 komt...
Impressive
Saw him open for David Jo
So Top 2000, I'm curious to learn more about Johnny Espineta's Dutch wife.

Very sad...
Very Lou reed influenced.
Hey Willie, didn't Old King Cole call for his pipe?
Frightening that the deep end of his pool doesn't end with a bottom.

What a waste
30 years making some of the best music ever is hardly a waste, in my opinion.
