    I own this car. Best decision ever. I got it new and all extras with it. I can recommend this car for sure. I will buy the Golf 8 R facelift next. But i will also keep the Polo GTI. What a great car.

      can I ask about the interior quality? any squeaky platic or noises? and how is the driving comfort, any similarities to Golf GTI mk7 or harsher? thanks P.S. mileage is astonishing, if it's true of course... 6,9l/100 km it's like a diesel ;D

    • @Roxas_XIII_13
      @Roxas_XIII_13 9 месяцев назад

      @@rg6259 the interior quality is absolutely ok and good for an Polo I would say. No noises so far at 30.000 km.
      The driving comfort is pretty comfy but when you drive on sport mode, you feel almost everything on the street xD. I personally drive most time in individual mode. Got all options in sport but the suspension in comfort mode. I can’t tell any differences to the golf 7 because I didn’t drive it. I joined into vw with the Polo 6 gti Facelift.
      You can drive the Polo gti with 6,0 l / 100km normally. The best what I got was 4,6 l but that was an extreme test of mine. It’s possible. When you drive sporty you can reach 8-12l for sure.

    I remember rushing out to buy a pre facelift one as I knew they’d be getting rid of the physical buttons.
    I crossed shopped it with the Golf GTI and was quite surprised to find that I enjoyed the Polo more than the Golf on the test drive. It quickly became a no brainer to go with the top spec Polo GTI over the base Golf GTI and save the 10k+.

    I own a 2019 Polo GTI. the main appeal for me was that it was wayyy cheaper to insure vs the golf GTI (since i live in the UK and I'm only 20 years old). given that its the exact same engine and a few thousand pounds cheaper than the golf GTI it was an easy decision. saved myself nearly £6000 in total when you account for the initial cost and the insurance each year. and with only a stage 1 tune it's actually quicker than the golf!
    this 2024 polo looks great and i love the new design (apart from the haptic controls ofc) and I would defo recommend this over a golf especially if you are a young driver or if your finding it hard to justify the higher price of the golf.

    Just got mine last week. Very happy with it despite destroying the front left tyre after hitting a pothole in Sydney only after five days of driving! My biggest gripe so far? The lack of an electronic or PDF version of the manual. Just can't be done in Australia apparently although in the US and UK and I assume Europe you can enter your VIN and on those country's websites and download it.Grrrr

    Some years ago I owned a Polo as a commuter car, it was fabulous. The current GT looks great fun to drive, comfortable and fast. I could live with it comfortably (but won’t) and think it’s likely a better buy than the Golf GT. The car seems well engineered and I like VW/Skoda DSG gearboxes. A great review of an interesting car, fuel economy for what it is, is pretty good. I agree with your verdict. I’d buy the Polo.

    Matt, thank you you for review. I like the work you doing but you missed a couple of important points. This is GTI, right?
    - How does paddle shifters work? (they are crap actually)
    - Engine/breaks are they up to GTI level? "Punchy" is not good enough

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  10 месяцев назад +4

      Thanks. I take your points but I’m not a performance car reviewer. I focus on daily liveability.
      And remember, GTI isn’t the halo it once was.
      I found the be to paddles to be fine, but the DSG is smarter than any human, so leave it to do its own job.
      Engine and brakes are up to Polo GTI levels. It goes fast and stops fast too. I found the brakes confident and bitey.

    Another informative test covering off most points (except brakes!!!).
    I was particularly interested in this one because my Golf 7.5 R-Line is due for replacement in 12 mths. Both my current and previous Mk 7 Golfs have had DSG problems and VW is very meh about it all - to the point that I know I should leave the VW fold. But they just do everything so damn well and the safety systems are so beautifully judged and actually assist rather than attempt to cause their own accident. It was noteworthy that you didn't mention their functionality because you shouldn't have to - they should just be there assisting unnoticed in the background. So despite my reservations, I'll probably get another VW, The Golf 8 is already starting to get silly-expensive and I can't see the 8.5 reversing that so a Polo GTi it will probably be. I just hope that the MY25 model ditches those capacitive switches on the wheel...

      I did have a line about brakes in the video but cut it out. Sorry! They’re reassuring and bitey. Very confident.
      Yep, the tuning and implementation of the current gen VW safety tech is great. Future models will be annoying (see my ID EV reviews).

      Polo gti brakes are firm and super direct they make the bmw brakes feel really poor.

    Hey thanks for all the reviews, love your work! I’m currently in the market for a new car. It’s a second car, we have 4 kids and a Kia carnival for most stuff. Was thinking about this or the Kia cerato gt, or Mazda 3 Astina. I am leaning more cerato gt just cause it’s a bit cheaper. I’ve driven them all and like them all, actually found cerato the most fun but it’s a super firm ride. Do you think it is stupid to go for that with the K4 gt line coming very soon. I assume that will mean the resale value of the cerato gt will fall off a cliff.

    • @therightcar
      @therightcar  3 месяца назад +1

      Thanks for that!
      I'd say the Cerato GT values won't fall off a cliff, there's a strong 'in the know' fanbase for them. The GT-Line model of the K4 won't be nearly as sporty, in theory.
      The Cerato GT is a corker. Do it! I would. :D

Maybe worth condsidering it as well if you need something a little bigger than a Polo?
