That's the thing. Super SUVs are no more capable than estates. If you want an SUV,buy a G wagon or a Range Rover,not a fast 4X4 wannabe. And the urus costs 160,000 quid without options. You could buy an RS6 and save the money for a Cayman GT4 that you could drive on track days. Just think about it. And of course,unlike a Range Rover or a G wagon you get stuck in the muck in a Lamborghini.
But why would I ever want a Range rover or G Wagon? Lameeee
@@ryang7720 Because those are actually offroad capable and luxury vehicles. Urus is not offroad capable. It's just an elevated estate, elevation and design bring absolutely nothing while worsening control, stability and performance. It's useless.
I think people buy Urus’s not because they want an suv but because it means they can daily drive their Lambo without it being impractical around town.
@@mirkomarjanovic3234 your actually completely wrong, Lamborghini really did well with the off-road capabilities, it’s not a G Wagon or a Range, but the Urus handled sand dunes in Dubai, and the mud in Russia, and considering it’s a Lamborghini it’s so capable and has such an emotion to it. Why are people so cruel on the Urus, Lamborghini needed to make it because they needed to survive, they did a bloody good job at it
@@mirkomarjanovic3234 the Urus is as offroad capable as their owners require them to be. It's not like G Wagon and Range Rover owners are going serious rock hopping in their cars. If you are driving on muddy fields or the snow or countryside the Urus is plenty. I think the Urus is far more capable than any of their owners require. There are plenty of videos that prove that the Urus sister car the Cayenne is pretty capable offroad. Most won't see much offroad beyond a gravel road or the road to the ski fields but that doesn't mean they couldn't handle more.
One of these people knows cars. The other is driving a lambo SUV.

The Touareg and Benteyga also share the platform with the Urus, yet the Touareg is slower and the Bentley faster. Also the RS6 does not share the Platform with the Urus, the RSQ8 does.

Lambo instantly loses just for being an SUV, imagine how much better it would be, with all that engineering, if it was lower and lighter but otherwise had all the same features, like, maybe an estate car....
Imagine the Urus being based on the RS7 instead of the RSQ8
Lamborghini should've made a shooting brake version of the Estoque. That would have been awesome.
you gotta remember the urus was made for sales... if it was based on the rs6/7 it would instantly lose half of its US market. But within the VW group, in terms of engineering, the panamera turbo sport turismo and rs6 are on par with the urus

The real rival to the RS6 is the E63 AMG estate

Alpina (not Alpine, that is different company from France) B5 Toouring is based on the body of the 540i Touring with the engine from the 550i, that is tuned to produce 621 HP in the LCI versions. Pre-facelift version had 600 HP. And Alpina is considered a car manufacturer, not a tuner.

What’s the point of the point of the urus? It’s a SUV that can’t go off-road, doesn’t have a serious cargo capacity advantage over the rs6, it looks worse than most things on the road, it drives worse than the rs6 because of the high center of gravity and it costs twice as much. It’s not even a real lambo, it has Audi v8.

How did I not realise that before!
Because minivans are considered uncool, everyone needed something like a minivan, but was considered cool, which ended up being the SUV/crossover. However, all it did was make SUVs uncool, because it was the people that were uncool, not the cars.
Minivans have become much cooler in my mind!

Alpinas are fast but tuned to be much more comfort oriented overall than the M/RS/AMG cars. Fast in a straight line, desirable road cars, but not track weapons.

I'd look at anyone in a Lamborghini Urus and feel pretty confident they have more money than sense.

We call it a wagon in Oz, but the rest of the English speaking world outside of North American calls it a bonnet and a boot.

@GT Suryateja To be pedantic: MLB is a system to build platforms, not a platform per say. Elements can be assembled at different points and lengths to create different plaforms. A kind of Lego system where one pick parts and assemble them according to needs. That's how the group create platforms sized from the A4 to the Q8 using the same system. Lambo also made the platform lighter by replacing elements with carbon fiber. The engine is based on the Audi V8, and modified by Lambo to get 100hp more. I think the transmission is the same as the one in the RS6.
It's more a cousin than a twin of the Q8 at this point; a bit like the Audi 80/RS2 or the Q5/Macan pairs.
I would honestly watch Chris Harris road test a bloody shopping trolley!!! Yes the other 3 were good in there day but there has been a changing of the guard and I honestly think its for the better.

I love how offended people get by SUVs lol. Everyone going on about the mass, there’s little over 100kg in them, relax. Plus, there’s plenty more space in a Urus than there is an RS6 - they’re incomparable but yet we find them being constantly compared...
yep. these are teenagers. wait till they're adults and have to go to places other than school and they'll realize a little agility in a car makes literally no difference in daily life, but a BUNCH of space and comfort does. there's a very good reason why suvs took over the market.

Yeah. And those people are getting likes but there’s many reasons why you’d get an SUV but it’s performance won’t be that good cause of high elevation.
Have you ever owned or seen an estate car? You realize how much more usable space there is in an estate, and even some sedans than an SUV? By usable I mean floorspace, and space without having to fold the backseats (vertical space isn't that big a deal, remember you shouldn't fill an SUV with things above the back seats, as for the backseats thing, as it's a family car, typically you want to bring your family along, not just the front seat passenger)
Now you look at the higher ride height, it means having to lift a kid higher to get into the car seat, children have further to fall getting out on their own, and putting things on the roof, or washing it becomes an absolute chore. Not to mention the safety aspects of being at much higher risk of a rollover (an EXTREMELY dangerous type of accident)
The size of the things means manufacturers jack up the price and make massive profits on your hard earned money (btw making an SUV doesn't add much to manufacturing, the additional body/structure material is negligible to the overall cost of the vehicle) it also means it takes up more space in the garage, or doesn't even fit in the garage, they are harder to see out of, so careful you don't run over things. It also means your braking distances are more, it's harder to evade an accident, you burn more fuel, tires wear out faster (more weight).
The fact is, minivans and estates are the better family vehicle, BUT they gained an "uncool" reputation, helped along with a good deal of marketing from car companies salivating at the high profits these CARS bring.
In the end, we all end up with useless pointlessly massive machines. But hey, I guess you get to sit up high and feel important right?? Soon trucks will become the family vehicle, and we will see these tasteless car-based SUVs as the minivans of the early 2000's.

@@steingratten I’ve actual had the great fortune of living with both estates and a Urus. You make some good points, but they’re all marginal. Yes you pay a premium for a larger car, and pay even more for the badge on the front but there’s no point in even comparing the two.
I can categorically say there’s more comfort and space in the Urus (maybe a slight longitudinal cargo penalty). I will also make a brash assumption that people who buy RS6s, really aren’t doing so for their “utilitarian” nature. The roll factor is truly a relic of arguments old, not really a concern with these two cars....
Washing, entry, exit, fuel consumption, height at which it sits - the Urus really isn’t that big, these are all negligible differences that I can’t imagine are being considered when purchasing one of these. As for stopping, it has huge Carbon Ceramics so that really isn’t a problem.
For some reason people always go after the customer of the fast SUV as tasteless morons, lol. I used a Urus in the Lake District and it did some stuff an RS6 simply couldn’t do, ride height very much played a part in this. The point is, the urus is a ridiculously capable machine. More so to me than any estate as it covers more disciplines. Let’s be honest, how many people but Range Rovers and similar 4x4s to go off-road? I’d say 15% at the very most.
The problem is, Chris Harris has antiquated and staunch views on what the family bus should be and ultimately what he says, goes. As another comment’er on here said, there’s a reason SUVs took over the market.

Urus is designed to be closer to an off roader than a track weapon, anything it has on the audi on, Lambo would crush the audi on a trail, any advantage it has on track is just a bonus
It shares so much stuff with the RS6 that it might as well be called a lifted RS6! Urus has no off-road advantage apart from a couple of inches of ground clearance. That's it!
Nobody is going offroad in their urus besides hitting the curbs at starbucks parking lots

@@-Diceman The urus can’t offroad, it has LOW PROFILE Summer tires, wranglers and broncos have High profile offroad proven tires, The urus isn’t body on frame, the unibody kills the offroad capability.

Drifting is absolutely worthless. My dad had an E63s until it got totalled, not one drift done with it. Drifting is overrated for street cars, the Quattro AWD is definitely better, especially for winter conditions
That Uris is an Audi Q7 underneath. It's based on the same platform. All you get for an extra 100k+ is a faster engine and Lamborghini styling... which in this rare case is HIDEOUS!

Damn the RS6 Avant kicked the Urus's butt to the got damn curb. Me personally SUV's could be difficult sometimes due to some of them being either a little too high or way too high off the ground. However that can happen to any car not just SUV's. I have driven a couple of SUV's and sometimes I feel like I am about to hit something or someone even though I don't intentionally do that, it's just the ground clearance that is a little too high but I get used to it after a while.

@@gockelxxxxxl9584 It actually looks both on the exterior and in the interior WAY better than its rivals. Combine that with a superior four wheel drive system and you get the ultimate family car. And in case you want more power, you can simply throw a mapping on it and you gain around 200 extra hp. No reason to pick the other boring picks, at least in this category.
If it was between the M3, RS4 and the C63 S, i'd go for the M3 for insane driving and the C 63 for a truly sportier sensation. But, in the category mentioned above, the RS6 is the coolest choice by far.
@@GutsDovakjin the exterior of the RS6 is really nice but I like the m5 more. But I think Audis interior just sucks. They are just using too much touchscreens. And Quadro is nice but it only has an advantage in wet and snow. In normal conditions the E63S and M5 are just winning in straight line and both are better around corners than the RS6.
While I have to agree with Chris on the name and look of the SUV, what in the world did he have on his feet😂

@@paulthomson9014 Most people I ask what they look for in a car say the most important thing to them is being nice and high off the ground because it makes them feel safe. While that is a dumb reason, manufacturers are beholden to peoples' desires, and these SUV's are raking in money for manufacturers like nothing else, so until people start wanting to be low to the ground they will keep making SUV's and there is unfortunately nothing we can do about it. One good thing about all this though is that just like the Cayenne is what allows Porsche to keep making the 911 without having to worry about finances, the Purosangue will likely allow Ferrari to have more money to develop proper supercars with.

Big fast blingy SUVs are just a big look at me kind of status sybol that are rarely driven fast and guzzle fuel even driving slowly, but dont forget the days when all SUVs were slow and clumsy and handled like a bouncy castle, and we begged for a fast one, now we have loads to chose from but still complain.

Same, they really need to stop the banter... it was even getting old with the Jeremy crew. Why not just go to basics and have 3 or 4 actual car journalists who legitimately love cars, have them review some cars, and give them one weird challenge every few episodes.

You could have pulled out the four rings emblem and put Lamborghini badge on the hood of the RS6 and the car would instantly make a perfect Lamborghini's estate without having to change anything else.
