While Control's main missions combine the best of Control’s parts, both Bureau Alerts and some of the side missions leave us with disjunct combat that at best bloats the game and artificially extends playtime. Shortly after Control’s release, Remedy introduced a more fleshed-out post-game combat mode called Expeditions that had every right to replace Bureau Alerts, but unfortunately it also ended up bloating Control and its playtime mainly due to the Jukebox Token system.

I love Control but I totally agree with you, I never found the bureau alerts worth it and kept ignoring them throughout the whole game.
Also, glad to see you back.
I agree that the bureau alerts are tedious, but they didn’t hamper my enjoyment much because I just ignored most of them. I don’t think the load times were as bad as you described on console either. But I’m surprised to hear they’re bad on PC. Mostly they fly by on it. I never played the Expeditions but I did play the DLCs, which I felt were a step down from the main game.
Yeah I ignored them, but they still shouldn't exist. And yeah, the loading time problem is weird and I think only happens for certain people or systems, I'm not entirely sure. I haven't played the DLCs but I probably won't if they're a step down.
Repetition, grind, and an office building. Wonder what's the connection.
Anyway glad to see you back with better everything!
Thanks buddy!
This is one of the most underrated channels I've ever seen. I just discovered your Fnaf video and now I'm hooked on the rest of your content, I love how in depth you get. This is awesome man.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you like the channel!
I am so happy you are back, I found your channel just after it died, loved it, and than was sad that you never continued
That's incredibly kind of you to say :)
I know its already been said by others but it is good to see a new update from you.
Nice to actually see an upload for the first time since I subscribed. I went through your backlog a ways back when your channel was recommended by another video essayist I watched almost a year ago now.
It’s good.
Thanks for checking the channel out! I've been focusing mostly on designing a game so my videos got pushed back pretty hard. You can expect more content coming from me for sure.
I didn't realize someone recommended me. That's great to hear :)
Glad to see you back
Glad to be back!
13:10 Really had me going there towards the end thinking I was the only one who thought expeditions were boring and repetitive, lol.
I love seeing these deep dives. Thanks a bunch for these
Thank you for watching! I appreciate the kind words and support 😄
Great to see you back! I was so bored when playing Control despite it feeling really good to play - your video nailed how I felt. I felt the same about basically every open world aspect of the game. I honestly would have preferred this game just been closer to Alan Wake where you have some semi open environments but its mostly linear and focuses on deliberate encounters rather than what felt like the same fights over and over.
I think the semi-open world worked well 'cause it felt natural to move from place to place, and sometimes you don't really have a chance to explore so it's nice that some of the better side missions let you do that. With that said, I definitely hate having to discern which side missions are worthwhile or not, which is a bummer 'cause I overall enjoyed the game and some of the side missions enhanced that. The combat is pretty fun when the game doesn't beat it into the ground!
@@DesignFrameCaseStudies yeah i could see that, to be honest i may agree and its just that the encounters werent varied enough and i blamed the open world for that even though that may not be the case.
I gave up playing this game about 20 minutes in cause my computer literally couldn’t handle the graphics
Bummer, I'm sorry to hear that!

Fart real
Such a good game, but I agree all this "extra" content dragged the game down and ruined the pace if the game. Great vid btw
