@@Jesus420.69 In 1956 the RAF had 67 different types of aircraft. in this day and age, keeping 2 prop cargo-type aircraft is expensive. One had to go, a shame they kept the wrong one...

@@myfootball5728 Technology advanced, maybe, depending on who you ask... A400M is still not capable of fulfilling some tasks the C130 can do... And will never be able to, due to it's size and design.

Can you pick which aircraft you want to fly in raf

You get abit of a choice in what branch you go e.g fast jets, rotary, twin engine. But it’s all down to the needs of the raf and how skilled you are at certain aspects.

@@dritchie9417 ok so if your branch is fighter pilot you can pick to fly a fighter plane?

@@AzGamerAlan if you get selected to be on fighters, you’ll go from the Texan to the hawk t2 and if you pass all of that at RAF valley you’ll be selected for either the typhoon or the f35, however it’s still up to the RAF which one you fly e.g there’s a lot more typhoons so your most likely to be put on them however if for some reason we go to war at sea then the raf will want to recruit more f35 pilots for carrier ops. It really depends on what sort of pilots are needed mate
