P - delta analysis is second order analysis because additional moment due to deflection is added to regular moment . During the earthquake columns which generally carry axial load are displaced laterally .tip of column displaced by an amount ' x' as compare to bottom of column due to that additional moment is created which is ( P * X ). In P- delta analysis We check columns for these additional moment so that it does not fail in shear and moment.

p-delta is the secondary moment.. deflection due to load p. we have to apply pdelta in every rcc building..
