This is simply stupid. All of it. Kpop will never go western until fans stop behaving this way. Why would a label risk taking on an act and losing their investment because the industry is full of cancel culture? When big stars and baby stars get equally attacked for trivial things. There are so many real problems in Kpop (not opinions on issues outside of Kpop idols are bullied to agree with) if you want to get political. But those would require knowledge, research and commitment to get behind. And they aren’t as easy to get attention for your ego. Remember Covid? It allowed this to grow. This is long, read at your own risk! To play devil's advocate, all races do get fact checked. For example, MGK was put in his place after stating he was better than any white rapper to hit the scene, including Eminem, a rapper that pretty much everyone will say is one of the best of all time. Any black rapper will forever be compared to Biggie and Tupac which will result in them being deemed unworthy of saying they paved the way as well, not to mention King Von who people said was the future of rap before he passed and is still viewed as a legend today because of his skills. It really just depends on the person because for most people, Gangham Style is a song they still listen to and they would argue that BTS did not pave the way, they just contributed to SK's exposure a bit. However, RM and BTS have played a SIGNIFICANT role in how people view SK, K-Pop, and Korean rappers as a whole. You struggle to find rappers who put meaning and messages in their songs these days, yet the BTS rap line does it with ease and little profanity overall. BTS is a worldwide household name as well, both in a group and individually, so stating that they did not pave the way is ludicrous. Especially when you remember that K-Pop struggled to break through to the western entertainment scene before BTS. In short, BTS opened new doors for K-Pop artists without ever setting out to do it. In my opinion, that is what you call trendsetters who paved the way and still continue to do so today. If RM wants to say they paved the way, can ANYONE show evidence to refute their claim? Mind you, That That was written and produced by Suga, and PSY even stated that breaking into the western entertainemnt industry was difficult, even for him, who is a known legend in Asia and even had a huge hit in America. This is simply stupid. All of it. Kpop will never go western until fans stop behaving this way. Why would a label risk taking on an act and losing their investment because the industry is full of cancel culture? When big stars and baby stars get equally attacked for trivial things. There are so many real problems in Kpop (not opinions on issues outside of Kpop idols are bullied to agree with) if you want to get political. But those would require knowledge, research and commitment to get behind. And they aren’t as easy to get attention for your ego. Remember Covid? It allowed this to grow. To play devil's advocate, all races do get fact checked. For example, MGK was put in his place after stating he was better than any white rapper to hit the scene, including Eminem, a rapper that pretty much everyone will say is one of the best of all time.
Any black rapper will forever be compared to Biggie and Tupac which will result in them being deemed unworthy of saying they paved the way as well, not to mention King Von who people said was the future of rap before he passed and is still viewed as a legend today because of his skills.
It really just depends on the person because for most people, Gangham Style is a song they still listen to and they would argue that BTS did not pave the way, they just contributed to SK's exposure a bit.
However, RM and BTS have played a SIGNIFICANT role in how people view SK, K-Pop, and Korean rappers as a whole. You struggle to find rappers who put meaning and messages in their songs these days, yet the BTS rap line does it with ease and little profanity overall. BTS is a worldwide household name as well, both in a group and individually, so stating that they did not pave the way is ludicrous. Especially when you remember that K-Pop struggled to break through to the western entertainment scene before BTS.
In short, BTS opened new doors for K-Pop artists without ever setting out to do it. In my opinion, that is what you call trendsetters who paved the way and still continue to do so today.
If RM wants to say they paved the way, can ANYONE show evidence to refute their claim? Mind you, That That was written and produced by Suga, and PSY even stated that breaking into the western entertainemnt industry was difficult, even for him, who is a known legend in Asia and even had a huge hit in America. Can't you leave Bts alone. They are grown ass men. They are global artists and biggest ones from Asia so what is kpop stans problem with that? You want them to be bad people so bad. Good Morning Dave, why is South Korea getting more and more bad regarding humanity and Socialism, South Korea is getting worse and there is less and less socialism and only hate there is no wonder why many are put off and maybe many People are thinking about it not wanting to go on holiday in South Korea anymore, if the stars are already being like this, how it's going to be by then Tourists , although South Korea is actually loved by Tourists,i have the feeling , who are considering not going on Holiday to South Korea anymore, or emigrating there to live there, which those who think like that understand If things continue like this, South Korea will eventually have no more Tourists in the Future and People will avoid South Korea and prefer to fly to the Southeast, because there is more Socialism there. How glad i'm that i have Southeast Asian Roots and that same-sex Marriage is allowed in the Southeast and that Socialism is highly valued there, even though bad things happen in the Southeast, i know that myself and sometimes there is a lack of humanity and i shake my head, at least they care about Socialism and Humanity.
