Want to learn more about Mr. Trash Wheel: www.mrtrashwheel.com/
Today I'm looking into one of the dirtiest jobs on the bay. If you have ever been around the Chesapeake Bay, near Baltimore city, than you have probably seen Mr. Trash Wheel. Mr. Trash Wheel is a massive machine that sits on the bay, gathers trash out of the water, and then disposes of it into dumpsters. The trash is then burned and used as fuel to power the city of Baltimore. I'm going behind the scenes to see what this machine is all about and how it works.

Luke @fvsoutherngirl did @theoceancleanup get their idea for their Interceptors from these river clean up barges, do you think? Their design is very much like yours.
They stole the idea and take credit for the design. Mr. Trash wheel is not a big enough operation to fight a huge corporation like ocean clean up. I’m all for anyone cleaning up the ocean but I’m very against big corporations stealing ideas and taking credit for them and profiting.
Ocean cleanup is a non profit organization, they aren't profiting from what they are doing. If the idea was based on the Mr. Trash Wheel I don't know.
@@Jeroenscheur92 keep telling yourself that they aren’t profiting, it must be nice to be so naive and blissfully ignorant!
@@reallnow its a non profit org, they are not proffiting, they run on donations. They dont charge for what they do.
@@reallnow they run on donations and dont charge for what they do.
If you ain’t wearing balenciaga sneakers on the boat you ain’t no crabber
Durability test?
@@fvsoutherngirlheck ya! Although you might want to find a pair of waterproof socks first if you are gonna wear them crabbin’! LOL
Better wait til summer time.
Mike Rowe would be proud! Great video!
I hope so haha!
Learning new things about you all the time.
I'm a fan of Mr. Trash Wheel.
Thanks for watching!
Love that you aren't too good for any job, keep it up man!
Work is work! I don’t mind getting my hands dirty I actually prefer it!
@fvsoutherngirl I feel the same way, not a lot of people our age willing to just get the job done. Found you last week and started watching all your stuff. Great Content
New dirty jobs host in the making!! Mike Rowe is from maryland, maybe you 2 should meet up
I would love to!
You are the new Mike Rowe!! Good job on this video! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love this video! So informative and awesome to see how the waterways are being cleaned up!
Thanks for watching!
Dude that’s awesome you’ve actually built almost all of them; I used to do water health checks on the bay and its river systems when I was in college at mason. So thank you for helping keep the bay healthy!
And thank you for watching!
Corporations that manufacture all that plastic should help sponcer them and help build them. Thanks for your hard work and environmental consciousness.
An excellent idea!
You are right every city thats located on or near the water should have these . Love your content Luke. Will be buying crabs from you next season. Im in dundalk and live on bear creek.
See ya then!
You are a man of many talents. I can't wait to see what you're going to teach your children one day!
I love the trash wheels! I didn’t realize how much you’ve helped out with them. Thanks for sharing even more about these incredible creatures. I have sorted his trash but have yet to stop foot on one.
I i only found your channel the other day but if binged everything while on night shift and I can't get enough of you and your friends just doing what you do. ❤
So glad you found the channel thanks for watching!
Happy to see you spread the word about cleaning up our waters. Locally and globally! Thank you for actually putting in the work for it too!
Hey yo Luke. Keep up the excellent content my friend I love it you add humor and still get to serious points of the Chesapeake Bay and educating people and keeping it really entertaining and I like tuning in to watch it me growing up on the bed all my life I'm 45 probably just a little bit older but I love your content and I see how serious and excellent you are at what you do and congratulations and the success I know it's much hard work and it's going to pay off $10 full than where you are currently but I love it and I support your content
Good video 📸 it's great to see you working on keeping the waterways clean for our future 👍👍
I've lived in this state for most of my 59 years and i am so glad to see the state coming together to clean up the mess that the Chesapeake Bay has become. I would love to see more clean up projects on the rivers that feed into the bay. All that trash and tons of chemicals that are dumped and runoff into these rivers and creeks all ends up in the Chesapeake. With the new sewage plant and other projects we can make the Chesapeake a clean and productive waterway once again.
I see Mike Rowe inspire others as much as he inspired me!
Great video! Happy new year!
The water wheel trash collector is neat. I love the big eyes. Thanks for keeping the water clean.
Great video Luke. Glad you found a winter gig.
It's better than my old neighbors winter job. I asked him, a charter boat captain what he did during the winter. He replied, " Not a GD thing".
Haha gotta stay busy!
Teachers get summer break, charters get winter break 🤷🏼♂️
Love your content been watching for a while now! Love the merch too
Thanks for watching! And supporting!
Another great video. Thanks for sharing. I am learning so much about the bay that I use. Cheers from Pa.
Thanks for watching!
Love the videos u should make more videos like this keep up the good hard work
ICP for life! One of the best concerts I have seen to date! They need a few of these above the Conowingo Dam!
Really enjoyable video, thank you for the informative and fun information.
And thank you for watching
Great video Luke. You are always working.
Staying busy!
Man you’re a funny guy. Thanks for giving a shout out to something I never knew existed. Good on you for helping clean up your city
And thank you for watching!
Fantastic video Thank you for sharing and well done. Make that money brother
Thanks for watching!
Great video !!
Great video! Thanks.
What a great vid. I enjoyed that. Who knew
"She's 4 months older than me"....., "the equivalent of turning up the radio"...,
Oh my that was a fabulous video!!! The humor, the information, CY!! , and you're right every city with a waterway to the ocean, should have at least one of these Mr. Trash Wheel. Excellent work!!
Thank you for watching!
Just seeing news come in about the Container ship crash on that very bridge in your video. Stay strong. Terrible situation for you and your fellow crabbers.
That was really interesting, I honestly never knew these things existed, Thanks!!
And thanks for watching!
It would be really cool if you were able to re purpose/ reuse a beam from the key bridge wreckage and turn it into a Mr. Key bridge wheel.
Epic video great job as usual
Thank you!
Need a couple of those near DC on the Potomac and Anacostia!! Have a great New Year!
Agreed!
Awesome stuff bro!!!
Thanks for watching!!
@@fvsoutherngirl me and my family are big fans of yours...my mom and brother are subscribed from their RUclips as well!!! Can't wait to see new vids once the warm weather comes back and old man winter rolls outta here!!!
@LukeMcFadden This is a GREAT educational video, probably one of your best ones since you did the old boat in Cape May. A lot of people should watch this and see just how much trash and debris can get into our waterways and pollute our rivers.
This wonderful machine SHOULD be part of every medium to large cities garbage and recycle program. $500-700,000 is peanuts compared to some of the money that cities waste on other unnecessary crap and “programs”. The cities and all citizens of the city and surrounding residents would benefit from this type of program. There are hundreds of places that these type of machines could help the environment become cleaner and even make them more usable for people.
You might be a good fill in for Mike Rowe and his “Dirt Jobs” show!!
Thanks for watching! I agree!
The unfortunate, and simultaneously good, part is there are 4 Trash Wheels in the Baltimore Inner Harbor
GREAT VID..THANKS
Thanks for watching!
You gave us more details of the Mr Trashwheels. Than the Baltimore News Stations. Thank you.
I’m not running for any office so I can tell the truth
@@fvsoutherngirl you are 100% correct.
You gotta whole Lotta heart Luke! ❤
You Sir, are a true waterman…. 🇺🇸
I've heard of and seen this big girl several years ago on a discovery type show.
It's too bad, not more coastal cities don't use this.
I'm in Washington State, and we have several rivers that dump into the Puget Sound.
Except that's Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West. Mr Trash Wheel is at the base of the Jones Falls.
Excellent dedicating your time to help build these environmental cleanup machines. ♥️
You’re correct!
Big shout out to Clearwater Mills in Pasadena who build the trash wheels!
Luke you continue to be an impressive young man, atta-boy
Thanks for watching!
5:28 whoop whoop from the 757 Chesapeake Bay Area!
Someone bought the shoes to win a race, lost, and threw them away when they didn't magically make them faster.
Cool equipment. I hope they can build ten more!
Thanks for watching!
😮😮😮🤝🏽🤝🏽💪🏾 This is why I have a trash bag on my armrest in my escalator. & My gear shift inside my car..👏 I have others doing the same thing... Go to the gas station and throw your trash away.. I want you to go on the news or have a little small fifteen twenty minutes clip.. And explain to people on the T v. I will share this.. This is the best and your energy appreciate you explaining all goes on..😉😉🤗🤗💪🏾💪🏾🤝🏽🤝🏽. Thank you for not making it boring.😂😂 . As you work so hard , This is where the mayor and governor get people out., That do crime and pick up trash all around baltimore.. People that have the community service........ what do you think ?? ? Thank you and I appreciate your videos... One day we will meet on the water. How do you do a trout line.. Is that you can show me
I agree! Thanks for watching and sharing! I’ll have to do a video on troutline!
This is tooooooo cool
Thank yall
Thanks for watching!
Question for you Luke.
Have you ever thought of becoming a Field Ranger for a Land Conservancy?
You could do the same type videos yet once a week be a 'Chat with Ranger Luke' video. You would be paid as a Field Ranger.
Looking forward to your reply.
Good idea but working for the government does not appeal to me. To many rules!
Luke this would be a Nonprofit organization Land Conservancy.
You can still do your videos (patron) and a once week Chat with Ranger Luke and as an Interpretor Ranger at the Nature Discovery Center and if want School Interpretor Ranger.
Cool video bro
Thanks for tuning in!
The “Gwynn’s Falls” river. : )
Luke you a good man.
Excellent video.
You aint a Crabber if you dont spend you extra time on cleaning up the Enviorment.
That’s right!
Gwynnda the Good Wheel of the West. The loneliest trash wheel has to be Captain Trash Wheel in Masonville cove. Despite all of the good work by the trash wheels, the bay along with the Patapsco needs more oysters. One adult oyster can filter 50 gallons of water every day. Maybe one day we can find an effective way of dealing with the metals and toxins at the bottom of the rivers and bay.
I've pulled so many tv's and tires out of rivers that it's not funny. yet take them to the landfill and instantly find out why they are dumped because they charge me to dump them when I get them out of a river. It's just sad
I had no idea such a machine existed. Pretty cool. Perhaps a Mr.Magnet Wheel to collect the scrap metal that get thrown in a river or stream. Cash money baby!
That’s right!
Should not have to make all those garbage machines, it the companies that sell water and soft drinks were properly regulated we wouldn't need to clean up all the plastic bottles. But at least it's something that seems to help.
Dude if Mike Rowe doesn’t do a show with you, then I don’t know what’s wrong with the world!! #MikeRowe
I wish!
That's pretty cool
Thanks for watching!!
@@fvsoutherngirlI'M an older guy and I really appreciate your work ethic. Just don't see that much with the younger generation. That's why I started watching your videos.
Ahh u had me laughing about dumping it back in
I wouldn't have even known about those shoes at the end. Id have probably just left them in the river.
Tell your Buddy to buckle up that life jacket or he'll become an OSHA statistic. Great content, who knew.
Will do! Haha
Giving Bmore homie Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) a run for his money. Great content!
Haha! No shot!
I would love to see these in every harbor worldwide. Brilliant Ida and keeps us outdoors peoples playground cleaner.
Agreed!
Hahaha the job security joke was great.... All I can think of is all the money I could get recycling those bottles lol
Same!
Coming from a guy who lives southwest ohio, this is really cool.
Thanks for watching!
Spare tires all makes and models, balls of all kinds and sizes, except for bowling balls. Never seen one of them floating down the river. Last but not least women’s flip flops, never in a pair always singles. Those are the number one items to fill the rivers in Tennessee after a heavy downpour.
Your right every city needs them
The trash wheel doesn't make much sense unless it completely runs itself.
An excavator with a custom bucket would have sorted in a few hours.
We need a non pg version of what you found in the water
Did anyone else get the Logan Paul reference. Too good!
Imagine if people just stopped throwing things in the bay, or on the ground, how much more effective the trash wheels would be.
Then they wouldn't be needed, not "effective". One could hope.
Lukes gonna be the new Dirty Jobs guy
Haha I wish!
You need shaggy 2 dope out there helping you out next time Luke.... Inner-Harbor Cleanup Posse.
That’s right! 😅
We can use some of those in Michigan.
Sweet potato pie excellent video
Thanks for watching!
Try to get these things in Portland, OR yet?
"She's a Cougar!" lmao!!!
is this group connected with the ocean cleanup group?
How do you know about prison shanks?
2:32 how ironic a prime bottle on top of the pile 😅😢
Thought the same thing!
Luke: @8:35, did you do the wiring job? LOL As long as it works it is OK.
No wire nuts. Not my work 😅
@@fvsoutherngirl Sorry I should have known. Also, the lack of electrical tape for a connection was a give a way too.
Job security👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Luke for president
I feel like I would watch a live feed of the trash wheel?!
They did live stream at one time!
So glad you have brought this to light makes me feel better that somebody's doing something Because the government won't.
Definitely we'll be looking into this to donate. Looks like regular people making a difference without government intervention. So they might actually get something done!😂 And why is this not mandatory in every city? It should be.
I agree! I will try and find a link to donate to!
COOL
So I dont get what we are supposed to know about what comes down the river in Baltimore from time to time?
The “I’m not Logan Paul” line 😂😂😂😂
Gday guys
“sir, I would like to talk to you about Mr trashwheel today”
Just think about how much less trash there would be if $h!ty people didn't litter and use storm sewers for trash cans
Another great video !
I WANT TO BUILD ONE
lol. Job security.
Its alot of work and kinda sucks... so it right up my alley. Hahaha
