I was feeding this cat one fall..( thought he was a stray but he belonged to my neighbor). He would come hang out on my porch and one night while lying in bed, I thought I saw a cat fly down my hallway. I thought I was seeing things... then he landed on my chest. My daughter had recently left foracollege, her father had just passed away, my boss of 30 yrs had died, 2 good friends passed away & a brother-in-law who and an uncl, when this cat came to live with me. Did he know I needed him? Did he know he needed me (his owner had started a family and he didn't care much for babies ((or sharing)). He and I have been through so much together. My daughter married last year and my grand babies live an hour away so he is my only one left at home; my companion, my fur baby. Well....I had to take him to the vet yesterday because he has not been himself. He will be crossing that rainbow bridge very soon. I don't know what I'm going to do without my boy...my emotional support cat. He's been the only reason I would get out of bed at times. I feel your pain. I put my sweet girl of 15 down last yr for kidney failure and was upset but better because I still had my good boy. Now his kidneys are failing. I know he doesn't have long. It comes on them so quick. This cat and I bonded like no other animal I've ever owned. (i recently rescued a tiny kitten but she will never be what he is/was to me). I had to call my old neighbor (his former human) and tell her to come say goodbye. (she officially "gave" him to me a yr after he'd been living with me). He used to go over and visit her when we were still neighbors but he always came home to me. He would sit on the porch or come outside to greet me everyday when I came home from work...now, who will run to the car door? Who will paw my face to make me get out of bed in the morning? Who will hold my hand at night when I struggle to sleep? I dread the next few days/weeks. Sorry such a long reply...guess I needed to dump it on someone that truly gets what I'm trying to say. I'm very sorry for your loss. May we both find the comfort we need during this time.
