My great gran born in 1880 taught me this song when I was 10 years old in 1972. I’m nearly 60 years old now.and still love this song. Beautiful rendition Gunhild. I only discovered you recently and have fallen in love with you and your music.
My dad was a jazz fanatic and I was raised on Satchmo and Fats. For the last twenty years we lived in different cities, and we had developed a habit of ending our calls with "I love you. I love you. I love you.........a reference to this song. He died last year, just short of his 98th birthday - he would have adored you, and I'm so glad that those were the last words we exchanged. Thank you
mirek Kiedy obejrzałem pierwszy filmik z GUNHILD, zrozumiałem znaczenie słów-radość słuchania. Wchłaniam jej muzykę, śpiew i taniec jak cielę mleko swojej matki dającej mu życie. Kocham Cię Gunhild .
Hermosa cualquier tipo de música instrumental O sonora se puede ver a los artistas en su plenitud gracias por esta bendición de saber escuchar música Y apreciarla gracias
Not to put a damper on this beautiful but the sad story of Billy Mayhew who wrote the song needs to be remembered. Suffice it to say he remains mostly unknown and lived in relative poverty in Baltimore until his death in 1951.
I love this version along with Vera Lynn's. Both different but very beautiful. Gunhild's version is so happy & uplifting. Vera's is different - sort of precise and powerful: ruclips.net/video/jfQnUKNPgRM/видео.html
how come nobody mentions Somethin Smith and the Redheads, they had the most popular recording of this song many many years ago. Gunny's version is much better!!!!

I like these songs in F concert key - easier to play along on my Yamaha YR 21 fife. Pretty tough in A flat and beyond.
