- ANC Youth League president Collen Malatji has dismissed claims that
they are puppets of secretary general Fikile Mbalula.
Malatji was elected unopposed at the 26th congress which was held in
Nasrec this past weekend.
His election comes as the youth wing went eight without internal polls.
Malatji speaks to Thabo Mdluli about some of the challenges that lie
ahead for the young lions.

He was asked a question about former leaders of the ANC Youth League who were expelled from the ANC , such as Julius Malema. So he responded based on that.
Malema will always be respected and remain a point of reference, he was trained, natured and supported within the ANC as a former leader of COSAS and ANCYL. It was not EFF that raised Malema but the ANC, so his ancestors are ANC. Nothing can change that, he is forever ANC. The difference now is that, he has his own political home and has raised political children, who look up to him for inspiration and survival.

I think i sort of in agreement with your narrative albeit a bit partly, according to me the young man sound brainy and energetic but frankly speaking he is in dire need of mentorship. And I don't see anyone with that caliber in his party, to authenticate my veracity let's wait and see, how he's going to tackle the issue of Land, is he brave enough to approach it precisely as stipulated in their own Manifesto, without compensation, which is actually terrifies his own party to take drastic action against it.

First when you are a graduate of an institution and you know what you did you should be saying I went to Wits and did engineering or I went to UCT and did Information Technology.The fact that you come here and say "Some qualifications" shows that you never went through the process.We know ANC put their kadras in those institutions to dish out degrees. Thats why today a degree has become less valuable than matric because degrees are done at internet cafes and matric people grind for it.
