I agree, most people do too many exercises, and they don’t produce high enough forces on any of them to elicit muscular changes. Runners don’t need more endurance work in the weight room - they need higher muscular forces and longer sustained times under tension.

    Golden info!

Matt, do you think hip thrusts are more of a glute activation exercise than a strength builder?

Most of the runners you pointed to were more in the distance category. Is the advice similar enough for sprinters?

This is more aimed at middle distance to long distance endurance athletes. A lot of the principles of quality movement are the same but sprinters need more emphasis on rate of force production for example. We have some other videos for sprinters like this: ruclips.net/video/_pW-j9E2TeI/видео.html

      Yes, it’s close enough.
In fact, the emphasis on jumps in this video is very applicable to sprinters (since sprinters need the “acceleration” strength training that jumping provides), and less applicable to distance runners.
(Remember that jumps usually have longer GCTs compared to fast running, and are therefore less plyometric and more strength-based.)

If you're a true strength and conditioning professional there's no mistake to be made? Just apply the principles?
