I suspect many of the nose issues would be remedied if we fixed our camera/air unit to the firewall, not to the foam module, and used the detachable unit just as a cover - an easily vented one at that. But if we put all the innovative design features aside for a moment and look at the T2 as a long range platform, wouldn’t a comparison to the Swordfish be in order? Same span, probably greater chord and larger battery area - and what about efficiency? I’m sure the coming weeks will answer those questions. Happy flying!
I'm in love. I want one. I love my T1, I like that it's 6s with that should have a nice flight time. I like the electronic bay nice and roomy to fit what you go with. This would be fun to fly with a pan-n-tilt system. Thanks again for the video and information on the HeeWing T2.
As always thank you for your nice unboxing, glad to see that you are as sceptical as you are exited to try it out. I really like that they added a rudder but the fusalage and the nose for sure could have been better
Great to get a really good look at this, thank you! It totally appeals to me, but that price makes it a bit of a hard sell, particularly since I have a Reptile Dragon V2 that is a similar layout. Maybe for NEXT years Black Friday deals! 🍺😂
Great review Lee! One other thing I'm wondering about regarding the T2 is how well will the propellers clear the ground on landings. This is a real issue for those of us flying where there's no grass or sand to land on. With my AlbaBird I ended up switching from the recommended two blade 7 inch, to three blade five inch propellers so that I don't have to replace propellers every other flight. Price is indeed high, but 1.2 wingspan is ideal for FPV in my mind. I always found the T1 a bit too small to fit the electronics in comfortably.
I’m glad to see I’m not crazy for the doubts I have with this. That nose! Also, I really think Heewing should release this as a kit. Locking the motors to 6S is weird to me, and personally I’d rather pick motors that worked on 4S (really easy at this size) or like you said a motor that runs at 8S so you can use 4S packs in series. Might be tougher to find a kv low enough for that, but you could also prop down. Most likely you’d need new ESCs too since 8S capable ESCs aren’t as common as 6S. Oh, and on that topic, I really dislike how Heewing releases their products piecemeal. The flap servos aren’t included, but even if you wanted to pay for them, until like the day before yesterday there wasn’t a way to order them with your plane, so you had to order the plane and then wait to make another order and pay for shipping from China again (or hope that a reseller eventually gets the spare parts and stuff). Same for the landing gear and floats. Same for the VTOL kit (which im sure is coming but I admit that may be more design work involved). Same for the kit version. And then on the T-1 they released the VTOL kit, and a few weeks later they released a T-1 VTOL, so some of us that ordered a conversion kit and had all these leftover parts from the original could have just ordered a VTOL PNP instead and had two planes? It just doesn’t really make sense how they function. Best bet is to wait a while and let the dust settle.
Universal vehicle . Greatness x 3 , modular snout , duel wing spars! and lots of interior real estate. 1200 mm wheel base is to way to narrow for endurance flying . I can buy 3 Skyhunter 1800 pp's for this planes cost and fly more then twice it's distance . Duel tractor is cool but air will be very dirty . Can't wait for your maiden .
I can fly the t1 till the end of my video range, about 9 miles, this would be no different. Crazy its so expensive you could build 2 or 3 atom rc planes for that.
Digital servos have much more torque. It's good to see a vendor doing the calculations and right-sizing a much smaller digital servo that will totally do the job vs analogue which need to be much bigger/heavier to generate the same amount of torque.
Thanks you again Lee for another great unboxing video! I can't wait to see the build and Maiden Flight video from you! I am very interested in this for LR endurance flights and am anticipating/hoping Heewing will be providing a vtol hardware upgrade kit in the near future! Lee What's your thoughts on Vtol hardware for this T2 ??
Lee I really start to consider other models like the MFD Crosswind Mini with all the fixings at this price point. Heck I built my Reptile Dragon v2 for way less than this.
I just built a Reptile Dragon 2 off Banggood for $107 kit version. Took the guts out of my Nano Talon Evo and I’m very happy with it. 2212 1400kv motors running 8x8 props on 3s 5200 no GoPro
@@dronepilot260rc nice…😬 I built a kit I got from Ali for 97 shipped. I used SunnySky 2212 x 1250kv motors I got for 34 shipped and RMRC blheli_s esc for 35 shipped. This setup easily flies with a 15Ah 4s3p Lion pack for over 1.5hrs.
I think people sleep on this foam a bit. I assume this thing is the same as the T1, in that it uses the dense molded EPP as opposed to EPO or EPS like most of these cheaper PNP models (FPV wing folks call it “Drak foam” since RiteWing used it for all their molded wings). It really is on another level in durability and longevity. Does that make it worth all the extra money? Eh, not sure, but it definitely counts for something.
We've seen air frames of this size being repurposed for recon in the recent unpleasantness north of the black sea. Could you see this being the start-point for similar deployments?
Lots, see my reviews of the fixed wing models. I specifically look at the ability to breakdown for storage and transport.... Most modern planes allow it... Happy flying
I do like putting fans on my vtx, otherwise you get overheating issues on the ground. knowing that you're not going to overheat no matter what is worth the 5g or so of fan.
I don't crash them ;) Agreed, using a fan can help in those 10 mins while you recover the model so if you are someone who ends up recovering their model, then a fan is a nice idea.. Happy flying Buddy!
I use a switch on the flight controller. The VTX isn’t powered up while my GPS is getting a fix. Or I power the FC via USB which powers the GPS until it’s ready to go.

This is a curious plane… looking forward the build videos and mostly maiden flight. Happy flying

Quite interested, just waiting for ZOHD to do a drift XL 🤞🏻
A Drift XL is basically any of the Ranger 2000 and 2400 planes.
Fantastic review, Lee! Thanks! 😃
I'm really curious to see how you're going to build it!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy holidays!
Great review as usual. I'm with you, I just don't understand many of the design choices.
we want the vtol version
I'm planning to skip this version but get the VTOL version - assuming they release one
That probably makes two of us. But I do like the landing gear option. My wearable ground station makes hand launches a bit awkward.
I’m glad to see I’m not crazy for the doubts I have with this. That nose!

VTOL version in the works too?
Can’t wait to see everyone that’s building these, looks like a good plane 🎉 I won’t be buying one tho 🍿
I really hope they do a VTOL conversion for this beast😁

Nothing from HEEWING on a VTOL kit yet.. Happy flying
I love T1 & T2 design...but T2 is so huge, I wish they can come out something in middle size with bigger fuselage
That r/h wing panel is looking very creased!
Lee I really start to consider other models like the MFD Crosswind Mini with all the fixings at this price point. Heck I built my Reptile Dragon v2 for way less than this.
I agree, at this price point there are lots of choice for larger models and ones with longer ranges..

YES!
bravo,thenks.go ahead

Are there any other fpv planes similiar to this which can be taken apart easily and quickly for transportation?
Lots, see my reviews of the fixed wing models. I specifically look at the ability to breakdown for storage and transport....

What would be a good inexpensive control to get for this model plane?
I'd check out the RadioMaster range of radios... Happy flying
Lovely style but At this price it should have been vtol. Too many other options out there at this size range for much less.
Inexplicably expensive with no real upside compared to other large models.
So cool
I stay away from Heewing Products, I found them to be low quality.
My wallet stay away from this. Price of grade A but not worth it imho.
