Well let me tell you my story... I grown as adult with frequent ear infection and as I grew older like 20 years old I was diagnosed with perforated ear drum in both ear with mild conductive hearing loss... So i had to go for surgery.. My first surgery was 5 years ago on right ear.. And it is completely normal now... And due to university pressure I didn't had the chance to go for the left one which caused mild moderate hearing loss in left one... Now it's been a half week of my surgery on my left ear... And I'm writing this commment... I hope it will be good...and i hope you are good too... Thank you
Hi Kristina, I’m sorry to see you’ve not got the results you wanted after such an invasive procedure and with your super positive attitude. You deserve your ear drums to work! Did your doc talk to you about eustachian tube balloon dilation? The procedure is no way as invasive as what you’ve already experienced but can help open up your Eustachian tubes and get them functioning properly to release the negative pressure currently causing that vacuum on your ear drum. You could also go for a grommet to relieve the same pressure, I guess… but that would create a hole which I know you wouldn’t prefer… You’ve probably talked through this with your doc but just thought I’d shout some stuff out. I know how frustrating it can all be….
Thanks for sharing your experiences, I'm born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, had to have an operation to insert a tube in my left ear canal to increase the size at 13 as it wasn't growing at the same rate as my right ear canal after a teacher noticed I couldn't hear everything she was saying, it helped my hearing somewhat for a while, I began using hearing aids in my 50's, my hearing gets a little worse about every 3 years, I'm now 65 and on my 3 pair of hearing aids, to be clear I do not have profound hearing loss, at least not yet, now that I'm older I don't think the ear operation at 13 was necessarily the right way to go, but I'm not a hearing specialist lol, my new hearing aids are Bluetooth connectable and because of that I have just discovered that I never did hear music that way that I should have until now, you have no idea how upset I was about that as I love music.
Hi Kristina, sorry to hear about that, I am also in my journey to recovery on Day 20 since the surgery. Still good to hear that there in no fluid which means infection is gone fully. For me too doc said It will gradually increase year after year. Let's see what happens got an appointment next month.
I’m sorry to hear that your hearing is the same I had the surgery done July 28, 2023 and a question to ask you when they done the procedure did it affect your taste buds I’m guessing and it looks like you had the surgery on your laughter as well as I have so again I’m asking you did it affect your taste buds in anyway because it affected mine and it seem to be getting worse instead of better
Hi Kristina, I feel bad for you cause you haven’t regained audition. I am going through the same problem since I can’t hear with my left ear, maybe like a 30%. I have a cholesteatoma and I’m going to get surgery. This disease has damaged almost the 3 bones of my ear, so I hope that after surgery everything is OK and they can replace them with an implant or smth. Have you thought about getting hearing aid? Idk how I’ll be after the surgery, but I definitely want to regain audition, and although it’ll be weird at the beginning cause almost no one wears hearing aid, I prefer hearing! I hope that you find a solution, technology is great nowadays and I’m sure you will. Peace 😊❤️
Hi my wife also have same problem that you have you had on one side but had this on both ear she wear medicine pack on both ear for six months she also wear hearing aid
Part two and as far as my hearing to me is still the same so I asked myself why did he perform the surgery if there was no guarantee that he was going to be successful how do you feel ..?
Hi, did you feel like one ear is prominent than other after the surgery? It's been 10 days since my surgery and I feel that one ear (operated one) is more prominent than other. Doc says it is due to swelling and should restore to normal position in 3-4 weeks.
@@raahijan6663 It's a better but I can still feel that it is sticking out a bit. Doctor told me to wait for 3 more months otherwise he will put a small stitch for correcting it.

I am so disappointed for you. I’m getting ready to have the same surgery as you in a month. I can’t hear anything out of my left ear. I’m so worried that I’m going to go through everything that you did and still not be able to hear. Did you end up ever trying a hearing aid?
The main thing is that the infection is gone, though!! Even if the hearing doesn't work out for you, we can take comfort in the fact that we don't have an infection trying to get into our brains anymore, haha. I never tried a hearing aid, no. I don't think I will at this stage either.
I got an ear tube and I have no low bass frequencies anymore. And it’s harder to hear now. My right one is normal though smh I didn’t go through with doing that one. Thank god bc if I did maybe I would some hearing on that ear too. Doctor told there is a 2 percent chance or something I will lose low bass frequencies. And I did. Yeesh.
I’m also into music as well. I don’t want to risk my hearing health for music but then I’m just like if I love it, just do it fam lol but then I’m like maybe if I just learn a new skill I won’t lean on music so much..... and dude hearing no bass sounds from my left ear just gets me paranoid I hope it’s not permanent I swear ima be so upset 😭 the whole plan sorta was to sacrifice some of my hearing if I did music and it would take like 5 to 10 years for the damage to be kinda bad and WHAT DO YA KNOW I GET A PROCEDURE FOR EAR PRESSURE AND I GET WHAT I THOUGHT OF IN ONE VISIT, FUUUUCKCKCKKCKKK!!!
what was your level of hearing loss? I have myself the same case hearing loss since 2019, without medical reason about cause. never appeared something in tomography rx and more i have high hearing lost deep...2 years ago I was operated and extract good tumor not cáncer, in parotid zone but never was found interaction with hearinglost...can you help me? thanks
Hey! The results of the hearing test said that the loss is moderate mixed - bit of mild, and a bit of severe, but the majority is moderate. (The scale being normal, mild, moderate, severe, profound). Unfortunately I can't help with your case, because I'm not a doctor and have absolutely no idea haha. Our situations are different!
I only got a mastoidectomy. I didn't have any ossicular chain damage, so I don't need any reconstruction! It's a problem with my eustachian tubes that's causing my eardrum to retract and not move, which is what is causing the hearing loss
@@kristinareitsma9382 ouch. I think I remember that from last video. I had 2 hearing bones taken out and can hear better so idk how this all works. I would look into balloon dilation for the E Tubes but I hear it’s only a temporary fix.

Hi! Nope, nothing to update! Sometimes my ear will unblock and crackle if I've been in the wind, or exercising, but it's inconsistent. It was doing this when I filmed this video too, and I brought it up with my surgeon. He said it was because there was more air going through my eustachian tube, that meant it could equalise for a little bit or something like that??
