No Spark China made ATV, Simple BMX 90cc Rewire and Cold Start!

- Bought this BMX 90cc four wheeler for $40 last week. Decided to give it a start to determine the condition of the motor. Simplified the existing CDI wire harness for spark only. The engine started easily and ran well on cheap starting fluid. The wiring technique shown can be used on most 4 cycle ATVs made in China. BMX 90cc ATV revival!

That one spark deal is one that has mystified more mechanics then a few. Sometimes the only spark is missed and it's diagnosed as a no spark condition leading to the parts cannon being loaded and fired over and over. When it mysteriously starts to spark the real issue has never been made clear. Just glad it runs and make out the bill. Seen it in backyards and shops!
Hey ATV Seat Exchange!!! I have had the spark plugs made in chins and champion spark plugs also give me the start, run a few beats then die... They start right up again when they cool down for another few beats.... One has to hide the closest hammer, calm down and one must start thinking.... The portable CDI box has really helped!!! @@HarveySpooner Those one hit wonders were like black magic, but now I'm getting a little closer to getting a handle on it, thanks. Oh yeah, went poking around this morning looking for a seat in my shed and found another 250x/300ex seat that needs a cover, will keep it aside just in case. I'm thinking maybe next week I'll make the trip so figure out your wish list and give me a ring on either phone to get the details in order.

great vid thanks. new sub here. I just finished wiring just the bare minium wire on my atv additional instead of wiring the red and black cdi straight to the stator i added the kill switch in between so i can turn it off and it works well. I am just trying to understand how to wire the 2 wires coming off the start switch. Also smart move on removing the chain cause like you mentioned my back wheel just took off full gas luckily i only had sprayed a small amount of starter fluid and it burnt out. Do you happen to have a vid on this as well as how to remove the chain

bought one that a boy had mental difficulties and had torn apart, trying to figure out the front a frames how they bolt up? looks like there is supposed to rubbers or something in between frames? he tore it down pretty much all the way, his dad told me, he said he was wanting it to go faster so he was working on it?? LOL.. but anyway figured i could maybe get it running for my grand kids.. I could use some help though figuring it out.. If your interested in helping me? mine is a BMX 100 CC.
I have a problem with black and white my kids gokart only sparks when black and white rubs against ground not when fully connected or disconnected only when I barley make ground I don’t understand
Mr Harvey i greatly appreciate you sharing your knowledge with us right now i have a bmx 110 also a suzuki 185 and a honda 4 trax that won't start for me and I also have 2 honda gx 160 motors that do run but they ran when I got them plan on putting those one one of the gocarts I have and I also have a honda atc motor that was running and I gave away the frame or should say traded for another 4 wheeler that has to be pushed off but does run I believe I have overloaded myself cause I'm a carpenter not a mechanic but I got all these projects thinking I could use them to teach myself how to work on these things but I haven't had any luck on any of these and I don't know how far you are from me but I am willing to trade all of theses things except for 1 gocart and one of the motors and the one 4 wheeler that does push start to you for one working 4 wheeler that I can ride for one reason I would think it would be totally awsome to have something out of your hoard I could brag about and the the bmx has all the plastics and all the parts to it and the 160 motor comes with the clutch and the other gocart I was going to put on the atc motor on it is a huge man sized gocart and if you are willing to discuss it ill send you my number but send me a message on face book at jj frates or jayjay fratesi or an email at jjfratesi2@gmail.com or jayjayfratesi@gmail.com thank you for all you do on here

250cc Tao Tao not running it's a 2020 ... dipstick fell off in the tank and it hasn't cut on yet.....runs rough with a little white smoke then completely shuts off
Hey Ice Man!!! I would change the spark plug, drain the carb bowl, (water in the gas), and I would make sure that the valve adjustment is not too tight.... The Tao Tao may also need to have good battery voltage to get spark, make sure Ur battery stays above 12Volts when running.... Let me know how it turns out!!! You can not keep spraying the starter fluid it will damage it big time.

I have a 50cc with an alarm system on it with 1 green, 1black & 1black& white . No spark from coil?
The All BLK wire is hot
Can wrong timing cause low compression and loss of spark?
I have one just like this one but its 110cc so I would like to know which stator would mine have?8 pole 12 pole?
Hey Balde!!! I think 12pole has 3 ac wires that go from the stator to the voltage regulator... the 8 pole has 2 wires from the stator.... They normally come thru with 8, 12 is an upgrade.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!

hey I have a serious question can you use a GY6 CDI box on a two-cycle as long as they're both AC and the two cycle has a pulsar on board the Magneto because I go on Amazon and all I can find is cdis for the GY6 and their four stroke if you can answer me back I'd appreciate it thank you

I just bought a 97cc sunl just like this same condition really tires and all lol put new carb and wiring harness and it runs great any suggestions or know what size plastics I can put on it thanks

rewatching some your old vids, and some i missed. Just sold A BMX 110 today tired messing with it. it ran but i could never find correct on/off to match the wire harness on the atv. now i got little 49 cc that lost spark, think i fried the CDI, had battery hooked up backwards. so it was just spinning engine. love the videos they help me me figure out what i screwed up.
Hello beautiful video could you help me with my engine there is no spark what could be causing it, I have a new electrical system The connections are correct but I turned it on once and kept it on for 5 minutes and then it went out I later found the stator wires eaten from the flywheel but I have isolated them and now, however, the spark does not arrive the same how come help me please

Have a cobra 220 4 wheeler only have green and blue of stator the rest are hello 3 total where should they hook up to text engine was gave to me so harness hacked

Hi. I am rebuilding a chines atv with a 110 cc motor. Bought all new electrical. Complete set came with wire harness. Coil. Cdi. Regulator. Key. On off and start switch new spark plug the complete kit. Wired it all and getting no spark. The only original electrical is the stator and fly wheel. Any idea why i am getting no spark

Hi, if it has only 4 pins used, U probably have a dc cdi, I have see some, (very few, only 2), come from the factory with a dc cdi, most are ac.... Can U trace the wires back or turn the ignition and the handle bar switches on and see if U get 12VDC on that wire.... I hope this helps.... Thanks for asking, watching, and commenting!!!

Im trying to do what you did in the video on a factory racing 50cc china quad an im having trouble i only got 3 wires going into my cdi can you give me some insight into why my cdi is missing a pin
Hey Ronnie, A 4 stroke CDI needs 4 pins to work, power, ground, input, and output.... Having said that, on a 2 stroke, the AC power and the trigger maybe the same pin, they have the cdi set to trigger when the ac input hits a certain level.... I hope this helps!!
