      That's not really uncommon though. When the F-16 was first introduced, it was thought to be the same. A waste of money, totally useless until it went to war and to date has proven to be one of the worlds best military aircraft. The F-15 was thought to be unnecessarily complicated and costed way to much. Fast forward, and it's record is something like 100 air to air kills and zero losses. The A-10 however has captured the publics eye but behind the scenes, has the highest fratricide rate of any modern aircraft. Last thing, here in Canada, the Trudeau government ran against the F-35 as an overpriced useless aircraft. However now they've changed their mind and decided to replace the entire air force with these aircraft. The true capabilities of this new plane won't be listed in a congressional hearing or the public eye because it's heavily classified, however rumor has it that a pilot can look behind and in conjunction with the Aim-9X (thrust vectored missile) can literally shoot down an aircraft behind it. How do you dogfight something like that? Anyway, this has been the history of every single military aircraft as far as I can remember. It's not wrong for politicians to ask questions like these, I'd say it's their job. But given the context of previous aircraft going through the same thing, I wouldn't worry about the performance of this thing.

    • @johnshackford
      @johnshackford 5 месяцев назад +1

      Notice what they didn't say? he blamed it on parts. Some background I'm a former A-10 Crew chief and for decades the Air Force intentionally created a parts shortage to manipulate the FMC data to paint the A-10 in a bad light but regardless of their attempts at cooking the books the A-10 community consistently produced enough aircraft to meet the Air force's need with plenty of room to spare. The problem isn't parts per se. It's people to install the parts. the Air force and Congress can throw all the parts they want at the F-35 but Ops tempo and manpower are what drives the daily/ monthly FMC rates of aircraft. So if they want to fly the shit out of the F-35 fleet and keep those FMC rates up than the Air force better find more manpower.

    The pharmaceutical industry doesn't want an acne cream that ACTUALLY WORKS. They want it to partially work, and so repeat sales stoke up profits. The military-industrial complex wants a fighter that partially works and needs constant attention and support from the manufacturer. Cat C and D, preferably. The F35 is a turkey, anyway.

    Logistics isn't simple. Mr Gaetz is onl taking it in a civilian perspective. Unit vehicles with FMC rates around 60% are difficult to sustain. I get what Gaetz is trying to say, but unless Congress will train its airmen/sailors to the degree of LM contractors, nothing will change. A BIG miscommunication that unfortunately the top brass in this hearing didnt catch is that they basically told Mr. Gaetz that the FMC rate is low because LM made them that way, and its all their fault. Whereas the actual issue is just the sheer maintenance hours and resources required for military vehicles and equipment arent there due to inexperience and time mismanagement. If an army unit WITHOUT contractors has a difficult time getting its JLTV fleet to at least 60%, how the hell do you think the military will fare with arguably one of the most complex systems in the world? We paid for the fancy jet and high speed pilots,but its evident that congress and the pentagon didnt plan for sustainment

    We may want to consider Agenda 30 out of the UN. I think included in this Agenda is a proposed halt to domestic travel for Americans, with recommendations for Americans only allowed by law to vacation using air travel maybe every third year or fifth year. Anyway, future travel for Americans will become rare. That's the plan and if the airline industry is purposefully constructing danger in the air, that certainly discourages flying.

    If you ever had to work these Lockheed platforms and be told you have to spend a week playing musical parts because Lockheed's contracts won't allow for the local manufacture of parts that wear out quite frequently you'd be pissed to. Lockheed's and Boeing both get away with this over charging for junk crap because Congress allowed them to become to big to fail. If you saw how much the Air Force is wasting on parts that you can go to the local hardware store and buy for a couple bucks your rage would launch you to the moon. Yet while they continue to waste money on platforms that can barley do what they were designed for they are shit canning the tried and true Platforms that do what they were designed to do and more. So I blame Congress for not holding the Pentagon's feet to the fire and not creating an environment that produced competition among the defense companies. Seems like Congress gave each company their own little defense niche. Lockheed's builds the fighter, Boeing builds the big heavy stuff and Northrop Grumman build the bombers and the smaller companies provide the overpriced parts. What a nice little racket no doubt that whole room will all be corporate generals very soon. And this is how THE MIC FLEECES THE TAX PAYERS.

    Why would Lockheed Martin make a defective aircraft for the Government?

    If you dig deeper, you'll find that companies that FORGE parts for the F35 and other jets/planes have went fully over the top woke in hiring practices. In stead of finding hard workers they get with a program that hires felons " which was never allowed before " and get a tax break of 10k a person. Then when quality goes out the window and you are producing scrap parts, or rework parts x2 or x3 and your behind on shipping dates or unable to fulfill orders because you are waiting on raw stock to reforge the parts that were scrapped. And instead of holding the people that did it accountable and doing drug/alcohol testing regularly when the shop smells like pot and you can see people are hammered HR looks the other way and gives hugs ...

    Lol years ago I talked to ground maintenance Sergeant and note this was back when the F-35 couldn't shoot it's onboard cannon because the software to shoot the cannon hadn't even been coded yet. So Air force receives F-35 with I believe it was 2 hours flight time and the first thing they do is pull the jet engine and install a new engine and then send that jet engine with 2 hours of flight time to be rebuilt lol. There was no install manual for wing weapon pylons and they ended up putting them on backwards and they scratched the stealth paint which then had to be fixed.

    It would be interesting to find out how the F35 is performing in other services around the world. If it is also failing to produce a suitable product maybe there should be repercussions on LM for not holding up their end of the contract.

    What a sh*t show. MG doesn't let witnesses answer his ?s so he remains ignorant. Not saying he's wrong about how much control LM was able to secure, but clearly the planes fly. For those that don't know, there's a difference between mission capable and full mission capable. You don't always needs full mission capable. Imagine your new car off the lot as FMC. (might even have gripes that the dealer has to take care of in a week or two) it's not FMC but is MC. You can safely take your family to see grandma across the country with no worries. MG just creating chaos to muddy the water regarding his own troubles.

Lerhaps if he would have spent time with these men prior to the hearing, the hearing would not have been necessary but, these poli politicians have to grandstand to please their constituents
