"We’ll Know Our Disinformation Program Is Complete When Everything the American Public Believes Is False" William Casey (former CIA Director 1981-1987)
Bob Iger wants us to stop talking about ‘Song of the South’. This man has done more damage to not only Walt Disney’s legacy but to our culture as a whole. He’s a madman that needs to get fired.
"he's a madman that needs to get -fired- dragged out and publicly horse whipped."
Fixed it for ya' =)
And possibly jailed for destroying one man’s legacy
all by design, tearing down "statues of Americana" and Disney would have to be one of the biggest.
Not all statues are made of stone or metal, some are made from bricks and memories.
It is more than that, DEIger is determined to purge all things Walt Disney from the company!!
cringe comment. get over yourself
The first black actor to win an oscar and Disney deems it "problematic"
Disgusting.
Wokeism.
Just proves wokies are racists.
As China do likewise
First black *man.* "Gone with the Wind" was the 1st black actor to win an Oscar.
Closing a ride is one thing, but when you start erasing historic actors and their achievements, that's crossing the line into book burning territory. Absolutely sickening and cowardly.
@TheFoxFromSplashMountain
Kinda makes me wonder what they have against us black folks to pull this b.s.
Don’t forget that they also painted over the “Baskett McDaniels” washboard where the Splash photos were. They straight up did not care.
@@katef96 Monsters.
@@TheFoxFromSplashMountain There were news headlines about a the petition to retheme. I think they could have addressed the issue by giving Tiana her own ride and explained the folklore element, but Disney is too far left and cowardly.
@@DemonicRemptionExactly. There's a certain crowd in charge out there (wokesters, for one) who believe that they are superior to all the rest of us and along with everything else they're pulling clearly wants anyone black put in "their place", and I'm sick of it.
This was all supposed to have been settled and taken care of ages ago as blacks are Americans, too.
But clearly there are certain people out there who want to keep playing these sorts of games with all of us, trying to "divide and conquer" among other things, for their own personal gain.
Disney should be sued for erasing this man from history. Walt Disney himself would be furious of this if he was alive today
Walt fought to get James Baskett his Oscar. He LOVED the man. If he saw what they were doing, he would be livid, no doubt.
Just further proof they hate Walt!
@Eva01-jy2qu7pu9r sued for what? Who would have standing and could prove damages? Better to just stop giving them your money. They produce absolutely nothing anyone needs.
Erasing the past. They tried it during the French Revolution and it didn’t turn out well for them.
A statue of James Baskett with Brer Rabbit facing the Walt&Mickey statue should be a worthy tribute.
The profound ignorance of the Disney company today is astounding.
I’m borne and raised in the south and I saw Song of the South when I was a very young child in the 1960’s and had no problem figuring out on my own that the Uncle Remus stories were how slaves kept alive the day that they would be free and slavery would be abolished. Also the friendship between races was possible. It breaks my heart to see people erase history because of their feelings. History is not for feelings, it’s to keep it visible so EVERYONE can learn and not repeat the mistakes. Song of the South is one of my favorite movies and I watch it at least once a year.
Yes it's a wonderful movie and showed how a black man didn't look at color and accepted and loved this young boy even though he was white. Uncle Remus truly wanted to help him and didn't see color. This stuff breaks my heart because I feel I can't support Disney anymore and I loved going to Disneyland resort, but not anymore. Sad 😔
Dr King was murdered because he believed whites and blacks should get along and live together as was Malcom X as he discovered the same thing in later life.
I recently watched it as well, it was so good! I wish it was on Disney plus so I didn’t have to do it illegally. :(
I have the VHS of South of the South!
Wish I had been able to see Song of the South. Those of you who have copies are very lucky. Make sure you show family/friends. Spread the word.
Censorship and book burning from this company, really?
You are correct 😢
Sounds like DeSantis
It's not difficult to understand. They had to remove Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben too. Easy to see who is really racist.
We have a local brand of pimento cheese that had a beautiful smiling black woman who worked for them on the package. They were forced to remove her image.
Bl__k H__tory is now vetted based on if the w__te l_b gatekeepers approve of it or not. It's absolutely d_sg_sting.
@@LususNaturae-tristeDid the pimento lady have removal in 2020 because thats when Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima suddenly needed to have their faces erased from the boxes of their brands
Those two examples make me laugh so hard!!! The execs actually inadvertently thwt they don’t want minorities being the face of their product! Same as land o’ lakes butter. Hike is in them but many many minorities were loyal to those brands because they had those faces on their products.
I miss Aunt Jemima, she deserves better!
Hattie McDaniel was the first black actor to win an Oscar. James Baskett was the first male black actor to receive one. While it was an honorary Oscar that Walt Disney campaigned for, it is still significant. The first male black actor to actually win the award was Sidney Poitier for the 1964 film Lilies of the Field.
Considering Song of the South was 1946, that is close to 20 years later that the competitive award was granted to a male black actor.
Yes like you said, Walt himself fought for the award. If Walt was willing to go that far, how in the literal hell is it now "problematic" for Walt's company!
She was the first black actress, not first actor.
Disney won’t stop until they have destroyed all their legacies
Iger won't stop until...
Iger needs to be stopped.
@@KukaahiAgree, Iger and Chapek are the 2 worst things ever to happen to the Disney company.
@@Kukaahi Crooked Bob will stop after my takeover resulting the Make Disney Great Again era that sees Disney go backwards and I undo his entire tenure, while bringing back the "What would Walt do?" way of thinking that ran Disney after his passing.

Current Disney thinking: 'Diznee is for whyte-eee'
“Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”

The idea of cancel culture is to cancel all things that might bring most people happiness so that everyone is as miserable as they are.
It's a good idea in theory for maintaining keys to power, but it is cyclical in nature. Sowing misery and discontent works to keep people in line until they go too far and stoke the flames of rebellion
@@ShooterPatI'd suggest reading '1984'. That quote is incredibly chilling.
Uncle Remus was a beloved character that was kind, respectful, & took the time to love the children enough to impart his wisdom & knowledge to.....children of all races would benefit from an "uncle" like this!
Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it
Those who destroy history are trying to repeat it.

my thoughts exactly.. i can only imagine what kids are being taught in school nowadays
Don't erase black actors. Black Actors Matter.
I sure want them to say that to Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman...
Nah
I enjoyed watching my bootleg DVD just last week. FU Disney!
the funniest part of the discourse is people pretending SOTS was a good movie.
Uncle Remus Rocks!
Unfortunately these social justice warriors are just plain weird and think their doing something good but their doing the opposite. It's crazy. Walt would be disgusted and fire all these nuts.
Erasing James Baskett from Disney history and erasing his legacy is absolutely unacceptable and total bs.
The fact the pro-DEI/ESG crowd ignores or disdains one of the most prominent black men in today's America, no less than a member of the US Supreme Court, says it all. The fact the same bunch treats a woman like Gina Carano (or JK Rowling) in a similar way says it all too. In effect, the DEI/ESG bunch is fueled by the cruelty of dogmatism, not by tolerance, empathy or compassion.
Never. Stop.
The fight for the legacy of Song of the South must continue, because fighting for its legacy as a whole means that we are fighting for EVERY person who had a hand in the movie especially folks like James Baskett, Nick Stewart, Hattie McDaniel and the like to be remembered and celebrated properly.
Whats funny is ive seen nsfw of Brer Rabbit in a threeway relationship involving the bear and fox from furries securing a better legacy than the giant corporation that chickened out and refused to stand up to a few hundred weirdies that probably didnt support the cheap remodel atteaction
interesting that the only time you people care about black history is in the context of a ride and awfully boring movie
The DA is spitting FACTS! Mad appreciation. More and more people are getting sick of the BS erasure of Brer Rabbit!
They removed Song Of The South - WHY? - Because a certain demographic wants to stoke the flames of discord and chaos in the USA and throughout the world!
Exactly!
Disney keeps trying to remove classic IP’s such as Splash Mountain and now Song of the South which isn’t anything new. Which some things shouldn’t be messed with.
They took Aunt Jemima syrup off the shelves in my local stores!
It’s sad and disgusting to remove history ..
you didnt even know it was there until you heard they removed it.
What does the DEI have against early black people?
They have to do it first. If there were groundbreaking people before them, they no longer have the ability to get praise for their work. (Just like Captain Marvel, "We are bringing the first strong female to the big screen." Ripley says hi, Wonder Woman says hi, Storm says hi...) It's also why they keep getting more and more niche. First Black Captain in Star Trek? Already did it in Deep Space Nine. Female? Already did it in Voyager. Um... first Black Female Captain with vague sexuality? "We did that first!"
In the long run this isn't about diversity this is about creating an approved image for every minority that exists. Any evidence that contradicts that has to go. It is racism plan and simple. Not against white people, against every group they claim to be the advocates for. (Ask yourself, How do they treat minorities that don't vote with them? That should tell you all you need to know.) Representation is code for how we want you to act. And if you don't fall in line, you are the enemy. (At least they don't discriminate enemies...)
@@ThemeParkZilver
Yes we have include people of color
But we have to include them all the time?
It sounds fasict
"Song of the South" will never die off no matter how much Disney hides the history if it
Keep it up Disney and you will erase yourself.
Glad youre doing a story about Mr. Baskett. What an amazing job he did in Song of the South as he played one of the most charming and memorable characters ever. Just a shame people hone in and look only at the negative side of the movie and fail to see the progress it actually made, and in doing so - bury James Baskett’s legacy.
The removal of 'Song of the South' from the catalogue was the reason I bought physical media of the classic disney films so that my grandchildern, when they arrive, can watch them untainted. If one can go, so can others. The older the film, the bigger the chance that it could be seen as problematic that results in it been 'removed'. Many now have 'trigger warnings' at the beginning. It won't take much to pull the plug on these films and once they've gone they're gone.
In spite of her insanity, Whoopi Goldberg is a Disney legend and demanded Disney should release the film again and merchabduse of the Dumbo crows because she saw the crows as friends to help Dumbo fly
Agree. As soon as this whole fiasco reared its ugly head, I went out and bought as many of the classics as I could on DVD, including Song of the South. I'm going to have to look for more, but I at least got that one.
your grandkids wont care about that awful movie. Be serious.
Iger already proved that he is being so racist.
I agree
F Disney
Be nice now!!!

and when the public turns its back on Disney, their work is complete, yet another "statue of Americana" torn down.
It was my favorite as a child. I’m with Derek, it’s the song I identified with too! I loved James Baskett! And I’m a WF. He should be celebrated.
I didn’t know that Pro, thank you for this story!
It’s so sad. Baskett, what a wonderful man.
Truly disgusting behavior from the corporate overlords at Disney. I'm glad to save my money and continue to stay away from the bigoted House of Mouse.
Song of the south will be losing the copyright in the not so distant future. Therefore anyone who has still this movie in some form should treasure it. Disney wants to sanitize its history.
I have the movie on DVD and it's one of my favorite movies.
I have it on dvd. If I ripped it and uploaded it to RUclips after it was public domain would people watch it?
@@TheRealstarkHOUTxI would
Only the UK had limited vhs releases.
Either collect those and find bootleg DVDs too
I say make it more available then the rest of the Disney library and make our own new media as well. That's the best way of preserving it.
PRO - YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN
How about fans creating "FlashMobs" at the parks, assembling at Tiana's Broken Adventure, and singing "Zippity Doo Dah"
Honoring James Baskett instead of erasing him.
That’s actually kind of a brilliant idea
Make them hear the song instead of their own voices!
Don’t be surprised when you get trespassed and barred for life from all Disney properties.
You know that’s something the house of the mouse (Rat) would do !
@@thomasohanlon1060
Well what if we are through let the house of mouse toss us around like the facists they are?
Agreed
I thought of that also when all this madness started.
D should have kept Splash Mountain, and incorporated Tiana into the New Orleans themed area. Perfect fit.
That does make the most sense ... at least, one would think ...
That takes common sense
Also to be fair look at the New Orleans land haunted mansion takes up part of it and it’s squeezed next to the water so where can they put it exactly it’s not like there’s room or at least no room that I see
I still think it's hilarious they replaced that ride that the bayou ride because they found the original to be embarrassing and racist. YET, in the replacement, they're equally embarrassed of parts of it, and refuse to show the witch doctor. They're already having issues over their brand new DEI ride. How long will it be before that's problematic and they take that down? Eventually they're ride will have to be white-related, because anything black they'll find problematic. In the end, they are only proving themselves to the be the racists.
Don't forget about the inspiration of the salt mountain. Was employing unpayed workers.
I agree, their doing just the opposite!
@@clarity2199 I can totally see TBA being criticized in the future for it's use of black Louisianan stereotypes and salt mine references. By trying to make Splash Mountain "not racist" they made something that can actually be deemed racist. Way to go DEI.
I physically gasped when I heard they put a salt mine in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. That’s way more problematic than Splash Mountain existing.
That ride already doesn't have the longevity that Splash Mountain did to remain popular all these years. Nobody knows the story for TBA. The ride looks empty and boring. An unrecognizable Tiana pops up throughout the ride and in the finale, she's dressed up for Mardi Gras. Big whoop! The point of the mountain in the bayou was a search for musicians and spice? So lame.
Derek, I think ALL young people felt the same way about the song "Zip-a-dee-do-dah" in years past. I'm 72 now, and I miss Uncle Remus.
I am of Native American ( with white) descent & we all sang Zippity Doo Dah.....the pre- curser to Hakuna Matatah!
the kids are on tik tok, gramps. They dont care about the things you pretend to care about.
This podcast should be a PBS, History Channel, Discovery Channel etc. special for all to see!!
Removing history is the first step in rewriting history.
The ironic thing by Disney trying not to appear racist by erasing history on a historical figure who is a black man it makes them look more racist than if they just kept the history in their museum and acknowledged that this is what Hollywood was like back then.
Uncle Remus is the hero of the story. He is the one that is portrayed as the wise and loving adult that people respected and sought out for help. The other adults are silly and focused on things other than their loved ones. I believe THAT is why the movie and its characters are being erased. You said it - it's about making themselves look good!
Walt would have definitely loved Splash Mountain and would have not wanted to close. He loved the African folklore and music.
I don't blame him, they're cool.
Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah is such an iconic song, as soon as you hear it in the parks, you automatically know the song and where it’s from and the splash Mountain ride , no one complained about the song of the south movie, it’s an awesome movie the way they use live action and cartoons in the movie ,etc If you go to the train station at Disney World, they still play the music from the laughing place from splash Mountain
That they couldn’t go to the awards shows was disgraceful and that Walt Disney left that opening showed he cared. Don’t erase history, yes don’t let it happen again but erasing history isn’t helping. I loved splash mountain and always wondered why we weren’t seeing the movie, think the people complaining did more harm by trying to erase it. His character was very honorable, that’s what I saw.
The past makes them uncomfortable.
Why Are You Going After The First African American Black Actor & Black History Once Again?
It just shows how racist Disney is . First black actor to winner Academy award. Should be in a museum so people know who he is
Disney has become a disgusting company
Thank you gentlemen! This is a Great episode!
Its DISCUSTING how their minds work Evil in fact comes across
It just shows how racist the people that work for DisneyNOW are that they don’t like that actor that was in song of the south. Not to mention Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah won best song the year came out 😢.
Bob Iger and his minions really need to be fired from Disney .
That's awful, what they're doing to this man and the legacy that he rightfully deserves. On the other hand, his own people and their god-awful black culture would only burn his display to the ground if they got a hold of it during one of their "protest" temper tantrums.
Disney should have been dismantled decades ago
Disney started getting like this as soon as the old school Disney people started dying and leaving the company and then you got these people like Bob Iger that ruined the company. Walt Disney never meant for this to happen.
saying it again, all by design, when Disney is gone, their work is complete, another "statue of Americana" torn down.
Disney is being broken up under antitrust and sent back to the 1980s. I will be taking over and making it great again.
This whole move is an insult to James Baskett’s legacy
So glad I have bootleg copies of Song Of The South. F u Disney.
We all want copies.
I have it on DVD and it's one of my favorites! Screw Disney company!
James Baskett died at 44! I totally believe the broken heart story.
❤🙏🏻😞
As a kid back in the early 70s, I watched the film. After watching the film, I wanted the actor and the character to be my uncle, and I am white. As a kid, we don't think about race or skin color. Erasing the iconic figures in Disney past is really bad. They even erased characters in the their cartoons like the crows in Dumbo and the cats in Lady and the Tramp films.
Disney didn't erase the crows or Siamese cats from the animated features. They took them out of the live-action movies. But they did remove racist characters from Fantasia. In The Pastoral Symphony, the one with the centaurs, they removed the African zebra centaurs who tended to the regular centaurs.
They also painted over a reference to James Baskett and Hattie McDaniel at the end of Splash, one of the washboard photo-scanners read “Award-Winning Baskett McDaniels” and included each of their hometowns.
That was not worth keeping to Disney.
My parents met at Disney while working on this and Three Caballeros in the 1940s. There is nothing remotely racist about this film in my estimation all these decades later. Those who claim that it is most likely have never seen the film. What I take away from the film is a wonderful friendship that develops between a wise older man and a little boy who is in need of a friend and some answers to his confusing family situation. Uncle Remus finds just the right tales to tell Johnny to help him through the tough time and instill some problem solving. The last few minutes of the film are some of the most sensitive and emotional I’ve ever seen in a Disney film, and I always end up blubbering like a baby! I’m not buying the racism angle. But most people will never be given a chance to see the film. A pity.
Disney must be stopped
Then go stop them or keep crying pretending you are fighting a war 😂
I kinda agree words aren’t enough here
@@kamandiLives I will be taking over Disney myself and making it great again. I will also do what Walt did and give Crooked Bob's name and his supporters names to the HUAC and get them placed on the blacklist. The Cold War is alive and well.
Honor Don't Erase - put THAT on a t shirt with James' image.
Disney is erasing black history from the parks.
Just erase the other black characters in the parks and they are done
With the talent Disney has nowadays, why look back? With hits like Wish, songs like ?, rides like Tiana's, and stars like Rachel Zegler, we don't need the past for great entertainment. Disney is successfully dismantling itself piece by piece, no wonder Universal is thriving and Disney is fading away.
Brer Rabbit, "don't throw me in the briar patch, Mickey."
Mickey Mouse, "no problem!"
The screams are from Brer Rabbit being tossed down the garbage chute directly into the incinerator.
God you are right
So, growing up, I never watched "Song of the South" I only first saw it 8 years ago on a pirate site. I watched it again about a month or two ago and yeah, it's a really good movie. I love Uncle Remus, I never really got a racist idea from the movie, most of my knowledge regarding racism seems to be from people who looked too deep into things or never saw the movie. I want this movie out of the vault, it has a positive black role model who constantly tries to steer a white boy in the right direction. Only reason I'm using skin color here is because the people who are erasing "Song of the South" hyper fixate on skin color. Heck, growing up, one of my favorite Disney Channel shows was "The Proud Family" and another is "That's so Raven", I know I'm pointing out shows with a different skin tone, but I need to show that the real racists are those that hyper focus on skin color instead of personality and character.
Call out BY NAME everyone at Disney who approved this outrage. Don't let them hide!
They Aunt Jemima'd him! Unbelievable.
100% AGREE with this! 👍
Lord Iger wants to be the one who is worshipped.
Well it looks like my last trip to Disney is fast approaching. 😭 But Universal is opening a new park I think I’ll live.
I know how you feel, I've been going since the 60s to the Anaheim park and I'm also a collector of vintage Disney items, that part won't stop, but everything else will. I just don't feel I can support this company and those who run it now. Sad 😔
Those who fail to learn from history are often doomed to repeat it.
Absolutely disgusting to see Disney erasing black history

Zip a dee doo dah won an Oscar for best song
The Disney Company of 2024 hates Walt Disney.
I swear Disney wants to pretty much return things back to where slavery was legal
It's a cultural crime to remove the image of James Baskett, the first black man to win an Academy Award, and replace his image with an image of Brian Stelter,
Song of the south is about love
Same here, zippidy do da, is the song I identify the most with Disney.
I want to sing Zip A Dee Do Da at my local Karaoke along with What A Wonderful World!
Probably my favorite movie as a kid. I'm a white guy who had a black uncle, because Uncle Remus was family.
You can't learn from history if you pretend the mistakes of the past don't exist 🤷♀️ accept them in the modern context, know they happened and learn from them, make sure they don't happen again.
There needs to be a movement to save the James Basket legacy in the name of honor and unity.
Removal of James Basket is proof that Disney wants to divide and sow discourse because there really is no reason to remove any of the Song of the South.
I just did a Google search for first black man to receive an academy award and it said it was Sidney Potier in 1964 and yet the man that played Uncle Remus received his in 1948. So now who is the racist here. Looks like someone is re-writing history.
I find it hilarious Disney found out about Iger and just moves on and doesn't care 😂
I am a 64yo white male. I was raised in Houston and I count myself a conservative. While I recognize the portrayal of "happy blacks on the plantation" as troublesome, those wonderful old tales, born of African/Americans...and recounted by "Uncle Remus" in this movie, are wonderfully charming and amazingly creative considering the hardship from which they came. They are the very equal of spirituals, Ragtime, and early jazz. How dare woke Disney erase this wonderful legacy. In my mind, that is MORE racist than allowing these stories to be told.
I grew up as a child seeing this Uncle Remus on TV. I never saw the entire movie...just his wonderful rendition of the theme song, and the animated tales on Sunday evening TV. As a child, I never looked at him as a black man or anything racist. I just saw a wonderfully endearing and sincere character. And THAT my friends, is what great acting is all about.
I refuse to go back to Dismal World and I would certainly refuse to ride the revised Splash Mountain. No thanks.
Please know, as I was raised in the 1960s, I saw real racism and I look back at it with great sadness. But it was the thing of the time in Texas. Things change. Wishing we could change those things that need to be changed, but keep the good traditions we always had. To me, that's what makes America really great.
What are they supposed to do? Be angry and have frowns on their faces the entire time? Anyone who actually watched the movie saw how sad and disgruntled Uncle
Remus was when Johnny’s mom banned him from telling his stories to Johnny.
I remember going to watch “Song of the South” at the theater.
Those in the know, know that these black actors, often were well educated, but had to take on diminutive roles, due to the realities of racism. Their sacrifices should not be erased.
Epic universe can’t come fast enough.
Disney wants to be the gatekeepers of information.
Iger's all signaling to cover for his apparent bias, how many black showrunners has he chosen?
I remember watching Song of the South as a kid in the theater. It left a lasting impression on me and I was always disappointed I could never find the full show on VHS just short musical clips.
SotS taught 3 year old me how silly race based discrimination is. I love Uncle Remus and his stories. Learning the history makes me appreciate them even more.
He’s buried in Indianapolis, visiting his grave as a kid that liked doing historic things was one of the moments that made me a Disney crazy…now I just sing zip a dee doo dah as loud as I can walking around…and that song was the unofficial theme song of Disney parks…get rid of that stupid stories matter group 🙄
Love when you have the D.A. on!!
Let's be honest. Disney absolutely sucks. Any questions? 🤔
I saw it as a kid back in the 80s when it had a limited theatrical re-release. Don't remember it being racist.
