    Tim, I sincerely feel that when you have a guest on your channel, it would be beneficial to all if you could refrain from constantly interrupting them while they are making a point. Your frequent outbursts made this program difficult to follow at times and gave the impression that you were more interested in being "right" as opposed to simply and politely hearing the answers to the questions you had asked in the first place.
    A lot of wonderful information here just the same. Thank you for making this available.

    • @TimFreke1

      Sorry you object to that style Bob. My motivation is far from wanting to be right however. It is to prevent the person I am talking to going into a 'speaking routine' which all speakers (including myself) often do. That is where someone repeats well rehearsed stories or arguments. This is OK in interviews, but I am not doing 'interviews' at all. I am doing 'private conversations' made public and my greatest desire is for authentic connection and inquiry together, which nearly always happens it seems as participants love the experience ... including Prem I am delighted to say.
      However ... I completely understand this can be frustrating for people watching who are interested in hearing more of what someone has to say, where I think they are missing or avoiding the real question so I push things on. In which case I simply suggest people turn my video off and seek out one of the many videos in which the person is interviewed or gives a talk in which they have full scope to roll with their ideas.

      Except Tim should have pushed the narrative on the N.D.E. issue further, and maybe given Prem a deeper insight into how profound these experiences really are. I seriously believe that it is quite possible, Prem is so focused on giving people the experience here and now while we are alive, he simply will not acknowledge this life after death narrative, maybe he feels people will just get too complacent and not bother practicing knowledge. :)

    • @stiteam8788
      @stiteam8788 2 года назад +2

      @@baragentledragon , I think Prem's take on it is definitive fact. NDE's are NEAR death experiences. The infinite lives within us, and Prem shows folks how to experience that for themselves. Finding a quiet repose within oneself, versus chasing things with my ideas, beliefs and concepts... the latter is what most of my life experience has been. Although the latter connotes more "activity", it is WAY easier to do, then sit in quiet and witness life within.
      NDE's may well be a road sign that gives me great comfort, because they suggest there's something beyond this life... pursuit of information about them doesn't feed my heart as much as sitting in quiet repose making myself available to experiencing the infinite.
      The commitment to quietude in seeking experience of the divine, is the most difficult commitment I have ever experienced... and easily the most rewarding

    A great discussion ! Tim I have the Experience Prem is talking about , he introduced me to it over 40 years ago , I have also had a Near Death Experience. Im not sure why Prem shies away from acknowledging NDE. When I was about 14 years old I became very sick with a kidney infection. With several doctors in attendance in my room at home I became unconscious and they feared the worst. To them I was about to die. For me it was very different. I remember rising up and looking down on my bed , perplexed as to who was lying in my bed. I could hear the murmur of the panicking Doctors and could clearly see them. Rising further up through the ceiling which seemed transparent I was still able to see down at the commotion that was focused on someone in my bed. I did not recognize it as my body. How could it be me, I was up here and feeling quite fine. I was also slipping into a state of just being and excepting rather than questioning . At about 100 feet ( I don't remember exactly ) I lost focus or interest in the goings on below and I just remember drifting through blackness while feeling totally whole and well, warm, content, peaceful, and most defiantly alive. Its a long time ago , I don't remember anything more , I woke up in a Hospital bed with tubes and beeping machines , within a week or so I made a full recovery . That experience was very real, no dream or illusion . I may have prompted me to embark on the journey to " know thy self" . About 10 years later I learnt and practiced the Techniques taught by Prem Rawat. I was a diligent and serious student . It doesn't take 10 years to learn the Techniques , they only take a few minutes to learn. What takes the time is to prepare the ground and to unlearn or to release the hold of your concepts. I had prepared the ground well and when I was shown how to apply the techniques I did , there and then see into, hear into and feel into, the Infinite . The two things that struck me the most were , (1 the Infinite was not where I was expecting it to be... and (2 It was where joy comes from , all the joy , all the love , all the peace. I also knew my self, instantly. Im not saying I know all of my self , Im sure there is more , but I do know which part of me is " my self " . I would never have found it on my own, I was always looking in the wrong places.

      I had the same experience on LSD. The experiences available now when fully alive are much more beautiful, sustainable and in our control. I prefer the experience of this life, which Prem constantly helps me feel by sharing his wisdom. The human brain has many capacities, as we all experience in dreams and imagination. I don't feel the need to project them in order to feel better about my existence. Heaven is in our grasp, right here, if you really want it. Soon enough, we will find out about what's next. Exercise patience and seize the day!

      I remember Prem taking about NDE. He said that those people were still alive... there is no such thing like a person was near dead. It's like you can't near eat your sandwich... or some similar example.
      So, it's an interesting experience but you were alive . Luckily 🍀!!! I remember I was drowning as a child and I felt so peaceful even though I understood that I was going to die. My sister jumped into the water and saved me. Lucky 🍀 me! 😆

      @@prijevodib2139 I think there is so much excellent research into NDE's now that Prem's perspective is worth challenging. Not least because there is no explanation from this perspective for the great similarities in the structure of people's experience and the corroboration of people's 'out of body' experiences. We have such a large number of these accounts now, our knowledge is growing all the time.

    • @Don-co9zs
      @Don-co9zs 2 года назад +4

      @@TimFreke1 mercifully, when there is massive trauma, the body sometimes responds with a comforting experience. I think it is more a survival tool. In any event, counting on it for your present sense of security is a more religious hope. I prefer the certainty of knowing I have a choice to feel freedom clarity wisdom strength joy and limitless fulfillment which Prems gift of the knowledge of the self, not the ego, provides. The River of Answers within. I can still play with fanciful ideas for amusement, but I don't have to take mind games too seriously. They can lead to unattractive qualities like arrogance.

Consequently this thirst is addressed frequently by reading various scriptures and opening up to alternative ideas etc. I live in California and it's full of so called spiritual people who are proud of their beliefs. Mr. Freke seems more intent on establishing his own intellectual prowess, while constantly interrupting and over-riding many of the points Mr Rawat makes. What did Prem teach me? Its not his words, that helped me. Its not his ideas, that helped me. When a student asked Buddha, how to reach that state of pure consciousness, this silent place, this feeling where all is well and all stress disappears, Buddha said to his young student: do you see that lake? The student said yes. Is the water silent now and can you see your reflection clearly in it? The student went to the lake and saw his clear reflection. Now throw these stones in the lake and try to see your own reflection. The student did that , could not see his reflection and came back and asked, what this meant. These stones are your thoughts and make your mind restless, so you cannot see yourself. To see and know yourself, to reach this state of pure consciousness , you have to be silent and if you want, i can teach you how. About 45 years ago Prem did teach me this, how to be silent and go inside, without words, without concepts . Still every day too many stones are thrown in my lake, by myself, my thoughts, my fears, my expectations and me reading the news or " the noise" outside me. I thank Prem, for showing me these 4 magical ways, to go inside and feel my inner peace. I hope for everybody watching this very beautiful interview by Tim, that one day, you also receive this greatest gift of all gifts, as Prem has given and showed me, so many years ago. It is more precious than the birth of my very beautiful son, more fulfilling than feeling the love of my parents, more relaxing than spending time with my best friends. What is it? To be able to enjoy and feel my breath this way is even closer and more precious to me, than spending time with my parents, my son and my girlfriend. I hope they are not mad at me, when they read this, but what could ever be more important for me than my breath and the gift, to enjoy every breath to the fullest and flying higher and higher, to a place ( consciousness, experience, joy, freedom, peace, gratitude) i never knew, before i went there. Thank you Tim, thank you Prem, now i know how to live , how to love and know myself and appreciate my breath more, than any words could ever express !

    Tim is so very much like myself. I even had my own "sitting on a Hill" time as a child. I had just attended my own 9th Birthday at home. I slipped away as it was getting very dark (I was born in April) and about 150 yds from where I lived was a little hill on some common ground. I sat down atop it and had a marvellous view of the skies - this was in 1959 and light pollution wasn't so bad back then - I remember looking at the stars and galaxies then reflecting on what I saw and witnessed around me here on Earth and was also dumbfounded why others were not also talking about the stupendous fact of their own existence!
    Many years later I was a "hippy" but was too stoned to make it that Glastonbury festival where Prem spoke. One of my friends DID attend and boy did I regret my laziness. He told me that before this "little Indian Boy" came up to speak the festival had got a little"heavy" a lot of drug use and people doing "their own thing" but that after he spoke he then described even hardcore hippy types holding hands and dancing in circles with tears of joy streaming down their faces but no one could explain it as it was just a feeling!
    Two years later after meeting another old friend one whom I regarded as one of the more cynical types of hippy - I saw something in his eyes and recognised it. I somehow KNEW he had discovered what I was also looking for and a few weeks later - I was granted the gift that he called "Knowledge" too. On that day I was reborn when I was enabled to experience within me that which is impossible to describe but is of that infinite magic that comes from the conjoining with the finite with the infinite and through the blessing of being in a human body I was able to become conscious of that magic marriage within.

I get why you continued asking question, what seemed to many, interruptions. Prem offers that inner connection in a simple and clear way, that's what he knows about and passionately pu rsues.. You shared your NDE with him and the resonance you shared with your mother after her passing. He was too dismissive, because he never experienced it for himself, he simply does not know. We have incredible potential in us and people like Prem Rawat, Leonardo Da Vinci, J. S. Bach to cite only 3, have escalated into themselves to bring treasures out...am I doing that too? That is for me a really great challenge.

      (Madeleine not Nigel RIP but I have his account) 👋 That was an awesome conversation Tim! I loved it that it was kinda like a debate! Took me back to when I first met you in the 80s - when you came up to Alston with Theo I think it was. I had a sort-of NDE experience way back and will tell you about it in a FB message if that’s OK? I was thinking about it a lot when you and Prem were talking NDEs.
      I also wished Prem had mentioned Time when you got on to the part about Evolution… and how Prem was saying the infinite doesn’t change and you said maybe it was Evolving. Wow I thought… loved it! Then I thought, but Evolution necessarily implies Time and what if it’s that the Infinite is not in Time? Timeless in other words😊❤️ 🌈

    Hi Tim - Sorry about some of my comments on the other video of you and Rupert as they sounded a little bit critical and also I had a few concerns and frustrations with where you going. You seem like a sound guy who is very knowledgable indeed and I watch your videos and see snippets of your deeper knowledge and wisdom and I know you know the truths that always remain yet you also come across as some who is looking for something completely new and distinct from all that as gone before. I understanding you are seeking for new ideas and probably not letting those truths interfere too much with the defining of new ideas otherwise they will be old ideas just expressed in the new ways. To think of new ideas requires this method and then later we see where they fall relatively to the truth we know or except and in some cases in line with beliefs which will all test the validity of any new idea. Sometimes time I am just the old truth with a few beliefs working through your new ideas which is intuitively frustrating sometimes, intrigued at other times and pleasantly surprised often with your ideas.
    I could write a great deal in these comments about what you and the person you are speaking to in these videos are discussing as they are very inspirational, frustrating and wonderful
    Intuition by the way enables us to have a knowledge of an experience that is hugely far more comprehensive than thought but works with a level of intelligence that is beyond full comprehension using concepts and words etc. You know the intelligence of intuition and its from there I watch the workings of my brain ultimately (often I am not impressed with it lol) (The back seat driver that normally gives the front seat driver the directions of where it wants to go but that front seat driver can convince itself that it knows better often).
    There are so many experiences I would like to share and insights I have and i know I will never write a book so sometimes I get carried away with my comments. I know you will have thousands of people wanting to share their experiences and insights too as that is the world of spirituality - must drive you nuts at times. I will try and keep my comments brief and few.
    When I first started doing research on my experience of oneness I very early on came across The Hermetic Tradition and purchased your book The Hermitica which was an excellent read and propelled me onwards in my seeking. I had no idea then who you were and had not paid any attention about the author - Later I came across you again and then a little later the connection was made regarding the book. I have since read a good few of your other books which I found very interesting. I think dismissing previous ideas and the whole theory of consciousness is not wise as its one of the best theories out there and even if you managed to prove it wrong it still has great value but that up to you and that's all I will say. Last 5-6 years I have turned the internet inside and out and read a reasonable amount and together with my own experience of oneness find that the theory of all being in consciousness very difficult to try and dismiss completely and I have hit it from every direction. I have to say though if the empty mind state is the conscious state of consciousness I don't want to go there but if it is the peaceful/restful state of and experienced knowing dual state (including an accumulated collective truth - Love) Then that's fine by me. The oneness I experienced was the truth that expresses itself as love. I have given that experience of oneness a great deal of thought recently and have a number of perspectives about it that do not negate it but are interesting interpretations - inspired by your videos

      Criticism of my ideas isn't a problem my friend. Keep exploring! Just so you know ... i didn't set out to discover my previous ideas about consciousness were wrong ... i was reluctantly forced to this conclusion. But I am so glad i went with the process, because where I have ended up is so much better.

    • @ShaunBanks
      @ShaunBanks Год назад

      @@TimFreke1 That's fair enough. I would imagine that believing a great deal that all is consciousness (and its convincing) and then discovering that actually it is a theory is quite the realisation and that can have a negative impact for a while but a positive result in knowing that now you know the truth but also that everything exists in consciousness is one of spiritualities best theories . I hope in time you will see the positive insights that Non dualism offers as well. You have made me think about it in more detail but I have always had problems with Non Dualism from the position of no self, emptiness, one absolute state etc as there is no logical or spiritual bridge from an absolute non dual sate to duality and I could only ever imaging a non dual state as something that has a dual nature in some capacity but is at rest/peace/inactive etc etc
      I actually re-read your Lucid Living book again yesterday and although for me its a little brief it is full of great still valid ideas many of which have their roots in an understanding that required knowledge of Non dualism on various levels. The only criticism I have on the book was that it referred to a state awareness as emptiness in some context at one point but it was relative to what you were explaining.
      If you empty (or imagine emptying) your conscious mind of thoughts, sensory perceptions and all its related experiences (feelings) etc you arrive at a state of awareness that is empty and a lot of Non dualists have run with that idea of emptiness together with no self and defined a Non Dual state of emptiness as either emptiness or they have applied a single type of experience to it like Bliss etc and you don't have to worry what kind of bliss you experience in the non dual state because you will not exist as you will be bliss itself - Which is a philosophical cul de sac that always results in bliss when you ask but how will I know and appreciate that and is it enough etc - Very clever But ultimately you can just say that any non dual state is irrelevant unless there is some means to appreciate it which requires a relative dual perception on some level - Its just isness
      I did the exercise as Rupert and non dualists do of removing all the clothes of my consciousness many many years ago and thought yes consciousness is empty and I am only aware in relation to something else and as there is not anything else I am just isness or pure awareness or nothing or perfection or infinite or emptiness etc etc etc but then I thought how the hell do you go from Non dualism to dualism and saying God just does and I can't comprehend it is nonsense and that's when it occurred to me that all though my consciousness is empty and there is nothing relative or other to define me I am ultimately just a dual nature in a state of rest/peace/inactivity etc and that dual nature remains the best explanation for everything I experience including the possibility of oneness (A dual nature at one with itself but with qualities), unity, collective consciousness, rest, peace, satisfaction etc etc which are all non dual states that are far more satisfying that can be appreciated with the dual experience that got us there - Obviously these states are not for eternity or its isness again. With regards to infinite how could you possibly experience that completely have time to do anything anything else - I think you can sense/know infinity where no boundaries exist but you can't possibly experience it completely as it takes forever - I just thought about that the other day
      Life is like one long bloody argument where you have come to agree on many things but you continue to question it to test its validity and enrich/evolve it into something more in some capacity and appreciate it more without losing the truth you had originally established - That is the story of life and society.

    • @ShaunBanks
      @ShaunBanks Год назад

      @@TimFreke1 Tim you are obviously a good and complex guy subject to you continual seeking and you take me on a rollercoaster of thinking and compassionate concern for you and where you are going that manifests in different ways in my comments - There is a hell of a lot of good but there is frustration and concern etc and ultimately its all up to you what you do and choose to believe in. Having reading some of your books and listened to you I get a little frustrated and upset with you when you tell us all your previous books are wrong only on a light hearted level as I am opened minded with spirituality and also know that you are just questioning some of your core beliefs from which many of your ideas in your books come from but ultimately all you have done is realised that all is consciousness is a theory and actually the best spiritual theory there is and at worst all your books refer to that best theory that spirituality has to other and yes possibly some ideas here and there in your books might refer to views in non dualism that you no longer believe in or you have seen through. Well with spirituality that will always be the case as it is not possibly to define it absolutely - I strongly suggest that most of your ideas in your previous books are still valid in numerous ways as insights into spirituality, opening doors and different types of experiences etc etc etc. which is all wonderful - Any particular things you want to address then do so - You have a huge amount of conviction to what you do and that remains regardless of suddenly realising that all is consciousness is the very best theory that spiritualism has to offer instead of it been absolute.
      I hope you grasp what I mean in a positive way - Sometimes on a mental level you are like chasing some very likeable, loving, sometimes confused, smart, sometimes adamant, often wonderful, always changing, forever seeking excitable kid across the plains of the known and the unknown - You are wonder in a complex world in action...sometimes
