  • In this 100th Video from Classic Car ChitChat we will take a look at some Classic Train Cars as we take a slight detour from looking at cars this week and instead celebrate Canada as we journey on The Canadian as we travel from Toronto to Vancouver. This has been a lifelong dream of mine and to celebrate a special birthday and my 100th video on this channel what better way than this to celebrate both milestones!
    The Canadian is a VIA train that offers some of the most stunning views of the Canadian landscape, from the towering Rocky Mountains to the lush greenery of the Pacific Coast. The train offers unparalleled luxury and comfort, with spacious seating, gourmet dining, and a range of amenities that make the journey a true pleasure. The journey from Toronto to Vancouver aboard the VIA Train the Canadian is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime. As we pass through each province the scenary changes and we see some of the most breathtaking landscapes in Canada, including the Canadian Shield, the Prairies, and the Coastal Mountains.
    The train also allows you to meet and make new friends and socialize with other travelers from around the world, making for a truly unforgettable experience. This truly is an iconic Canadian experience and riding the VIA Train the Canadian is a quintessential Canadian experience that every Canadian and traveler to Canada should experience at least once in their life.
    In case you are keeping Track this is Video # 100 of Classic Car ChitChat Videos!
    I hope my Classic Car ChitChat videos make you smile. I do them in my spare time because I truly love cars and my intentions are simply to honour the beautiful cars I get to see and to really understand the passion and love of the vehicle by the driver (or caretaker as Jay Leno would say) of the car. I also understand too that my videos perhaps lack the polish calibre of great RUclipsrs like: Doug DeMuro, Scotty Kilmer, and of course my favourite Supercar Blondie. I also know that I can’t even come close the quality & finish you get from the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and the boys at Top Gear. I think they use a little fancier equipment than my little iPhone… LOL
    Mission Statement:
    My Objective through creating these videos is to shine the spotlight on people who love their vehicles whether it be a car, motorcycle, or even a bicycle…. Bottom line is if it has wheels and you love it then let’s show that passion to the world!
    Equipment Used:
    Camera
    Just an iPhone SE (Nothing fancy - which proves anyone can use whatever you have handy to make a video… you don’t need really expensive equipment)
    I also use Insta 360X2 which is perhaps one of the best investments I have made and allows me to capture some really cool 360 degree views and also creates a “drone like” effect with the invisible selfie stick attachment.
    Gimbal - DJI OM4 - For that ultra-smooth cinematic look. (To be honest... still not quite sure how to use it but one day I will figure it out!)
    Audio - Rode Wireless GO II (I gotta be honest… this is really the biggest investment that was made… I wish there was a cheaper option but after the first couple of videos I soon realized that audio quality is important and hopefully better than the onboard mic on the iPhone!

      Michelle..l You're in for a treat! Don't forget to grab a coffee at the cafe car. Well worth every penny and the best time to do it is in the winter. The scenery alone will be breathtaking. You also realize how big Ontario is. Enjoy. Let me know after your trip your thoughts. 😀

    I did this trip from May 29 - June 1st. It was AMAZING. Great video. Gave me a chance to re-live my journey. I travelled in a Sleeper Plus Berth (lower) and was extremely comfortable. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat! Would love to do it in every season to see all the changes and differences. I met wonderful people from all over the world on this train.

      Jan, thank you for learning the comment. Like you too, I would love to do this journey at various times in the year just to see how the landscape changes. Some of our new friends that we met on the train had done exactly that and each time they too were in awe with the changing scenary.

      Merc, First of all thank you so very much for watching my videos and subscribing to my channel I truly appreciate it. My intention for the videos is to allow "ordinary" people who love cars an opportunity to speak about their car and why that car means so much to them. After all we are all the "caretakers"of our cars (as Jay Leno rightly says). I am thrilled you are a lover of the MG. I always remember the car would always turn heads back in the day and she certainly still does now. The train journey was truly so wonderful. The joy of seeing Canada through a different perspective is just so hard to describe. What I can tell you is that Mother Nature got it right.. followed closely by the MG !

    Thank you for your video. We are booked on the Canadian for March 2025. I saw on the news that half of Jasper was destroyed by fire a couple of days ago. I wonder what it will look like when we pass through.

    • @ClassicCarChitChat
      @ClassicCarChitChat  6 месяцев назад +2

      Ernie, I promise it will be a trip of a lifetime and I envy you. I would go again in a heartbeat.
      It truly is sad the damage fires cause to our natural environment. There is a stretch you will come across too that was so barren that it felt like the fire had recently happened but in fact it was over 20 years ago.
      I hope and pray that Jasper survives this and reforestation will help return this beautiful place to the way it should be.

    Great video. The interesting thing about these cars is, minus the Prestige Class cars at the end which are heavily modernized inside, most of the cars have similar furnishings to when they were delivered (just with updated colours).

    • @ClassicCarChitChat
      @ClassicCarChitChat  Год назад

      David, you are so correct. The original cars from the 50's have essentially remained unchanged. There have been some modifications such as outlets and the safety systems etc. We also got the impression that these VIA trains will be retired soon and replaced with newer trains. There is however a little charm to the old train cars but you do need to be somewhat of a gymnast too 😂

    Great video. Had considered the Rocky Mountaineer but cost is very high. Thought this might be an option. Can you estimate from schedule what Rocky Mountain sights you might miss because of night? Are there options to go east from Toronto too? We love train travel. We live in Wisconsin

    • @ClassicCarChitChat
      @ClassicCarChitChat  11 месяцев назад

      John, thanks for commenting I truly appreciate it. If you are able the VIA trains run from the East coast to the West so if possible start your trip in Nova Scotia and then travel across Canada. The track for VIA across the Rocky Mountain is a little different however in our journey so many were train enthusiasts and have travelled both the Mountaineer route as well as the VIA. Their preference was the VIA by far as it allows you to see the same views too and much cheaper. The Mountaineer also has more meals in restaurants etc where the VIA is a public train and you are travelling still in the first class train and you still have your own observation cars and your sleeping cars too are separated. The food is exceptional and you also have a chance to meet people who love trains from across the globe. It is also a cheaper option and far more immersive as you are both eating and sleeping on the train. I would recommend for sure.
