    Man I would love to meet this guy and hear his story if I could . What a fucking cool dude - a real person , telling us his story - and what a story ! The image of him with the Stars & Stripes flag draped over him like a cape going after 'Charlie' on top of his tank is fantastic . It's his humanity & honesty that is so impressive , always there among the terror . The interviewer is simply out of her depth here , displaying a bewildering naiveté of what war does to young men with one foot in their graves . Privileged to have heard this man.

    I was a young kid when my Dad and Uncles all went off to Vietnam. I enlisted in the USMC to do my time in 1986. Spent 2 years on ships going all over. Got out in 1990, got married had a kid worked in the garbage industry and life was good. In 1997 got divorced, got laid off and decided to go back in the service. Went Army Infantry and I was 30 years old. The next 16 years was an absolute trip. I went to Afghanistan, Iraq and went back to the Philipines 20 years after the first time I was there. I got wounded on my last tour and my career was over. It is 2022 now and I have wondered when one day someone will want to hear our stories and the similar ways we and the Vietnam guys experienced it all. One of the biggest things I can remember from that time was Stop Loss, IRR call back, bio agents in the sand and burn pits.

    Such a soothing voice. He's younger than my dad and yet he looks far older, it took its toll. You can tell he's nervous as he keeps scratching his leg etc. So sad hearing how these guys were left hanging. Typical politicians leaving the military hanging, just like Brandon did in Afghanistan 50 years later. Sad that America is supposed to be the best country but they will drop you in a heartbeat if the politicians are scared for their jobs.

    • @azdamman
      @azdamman Год назад

      President Biden agreed with the General Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the other chiefs-the top officers of the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marines-that we needed to pull out by Aug. 31 because Trump, ( Cadet Bonespurs), had signed the Doha agreement with the Taliban in early 2020 REQUIRING a total withdrawal of foreign forces. If U.S. troops had stayed beyond August, Milley said, the Taliban would have RESUMED the fighting, and, in order to stave off the attacks, “we would have needed 30,000 troops” and would have suffered “many casualties.”
      If you want to blame a politician for the guagmire of Afghanistan look no farther than GWB who took resources away from our effort there and sent them to Iraq to rid Sadam Hussein of WMDs that he didn't have. Had he kept the focus on the 1st war he initiated, before wrecklessly starting a second one, we may have seen a different outcome in Afghanistan.
