I needed this! I'm already 51, about to be 52 soon and I freaked out about turning 50. These past couple years have been a real eye opener, I truly dress for ME and I love my style. I truly don't give a crap about what others think anymore and I've become much more outspoken and assertive. However, here lately I've been feeling invisible...l don't get the attention that I used to from men. That's been hard for me lately for some reason. On the one hand I do value my independence, I have a great career, cool kids who are pretty well adjusted considering they are children of divorce. But on the other hand, I'm getting really scared I'll be alone the rest of my life and I'm not sure I've prepared myself well for that very real possiblity. :-(
I do understand how you feel. I was lucky and found love again just a few years ago but honestly thought it wouldn't happen for me. I just tried to make the most with what I had and bam! You never know how or when it might strike. So enjoy the small things as much as you can 😉
I can 100 percent relate to everything you said here ...immjust turned 50 last year in March of 2022 and I got highly depressed for some reason ..I think it's because I realize that my life is over half over and now that my daughter is on her own I now have the stress of taking care of my elderly mother and I'm having health issues as well and I'm also having horrible menopause symptoms through all of this and I have also noticed recently even though it seems a bit trivial ..I was always a head turner and I always got attention from men but no so much anymore and it's just another reminder that I'm getting older and no longer as attractive as I once was and that's very depressing so I just am under so much stress now that I can't enjoy being 50 but I'm trying to have a more positive mindset but it's really hard so trust me I get everything you are going through..
55 last week. It is by far the best time of my life. I’m definitely more comfortable in my own skin than ever before. The kids are raised and we are not not struggling financially anymore. All of these things have lead to the greatest time in our 30+ year marriage. It’s like we are 25 again but fifty thousand times better. I would not trade places with 25 year old me or 25 year old anyone, for all the money in the world. 50 f--in rocks.

I hope I get to age where don't care what ppl think, I seem to have hit a time where I overthink, care and worry too much about other ppl.. And I'm So self conscious - mainly down to ageing.. So I can't imagine I'll ever be confident and that ageing won't suck all the life out of me! ❤️

The best things I've noticed since turning 50 Tired most of the time Also leg, back, neck or joint pain Sleep early wake up early Happy to not go out at all except for work, groceries and laundry.

So far I am not convinced. Getting older is like becoming a ghost. No one sees you anymore and if they do they are either scared, bothered or annoyed. Grey hair, packing on weight, wrinkles, and living in poverty. Nothing to be excited about. I’m in Rishikesh far away from home and I feel totally alone. Also I have a cold. Tomorrow is my 50th birthday. Yay me.

It's a tricky time, I know. I guess my advice is make a list (that's what prompted that video). What are the good things about being this age? What are the new freedoms? And then....do the things that make you feel young. I think my immaturity has saved me on this one 😉
I'm feeling silly and shallow sitting here crying. I look in the mirror and don't see the beautiful woman who used to look back at me. I always said it wouldn't bother me getting older as I've never been vain but today it's really knocked me. I know I've been on intense opioids for 15yrs, nearly died and battle with my disease every day and that will take it's toll. I know I'm lucky to still be alive. But I can't help missing who I used to be and what I looked like 😥💔 Ps I have severe endometriosis and had to have a hysterectomy at 37 without having children. I'm now nearly 51. How do I stop feeling so sad about getting older?😥💔
Tracy, I am so very sorry. Life is most definitely a difficult road with continuous ups and downs. May I ask...do you have someone to confide in? That is how I manage in difficult times. Not only my nearest and dearest but I'm a huge believer is objective support (i.e. therapy). My heart goes out to you. And I suspect you're way more badass than you think you are.

He thinks I'm the most sexy woman he has ever seen lol. I have a fabulous 64yr best friend and we confide in each other and she has helped me a lot. I'm doing much better this week. Watched your videos and put my makeup on every day. Hubby has stocked me up with lots of face creams etc, some new makeup and sent me off for a full body massage. I really am blessed but sometimes you need a kick up the ass to realise it 💜💜💜💜💜🤪🤣

Are you kidding me?? I DEFINITELY still go out! I'm 51 but don't feel it (or act it, frankly). There's nothing I can't do, wear, drink or enjoy. It's only a number. I was out with friends on Friday night and happened to run into my 20-year old daughter and her friends at the same bar (18 is the legal age in Ireland btw) and we joined together. No one even noticed the age difference. Go have FUN!

I hate to sound like negative Nancy but I turned 50 in March of last year and I got highly depressed because it's the reality that my life is over half over and I'm now taking care of my elderly mother whose health has declined recently and now I'm also starting to have health related issues like diabetes and arthritis and I'm having horrible menopause symptoms during all of this so some things are good but some things are worse like now that my daughter is on her own I now am taking care of my elderly mother and I'm having financial problems as well as relationship problems and even though this is trivial..it's kind of depressing when most of my life I turned heads because I was very attractive but let's just say that doesn't really happen much anymore and I know it's trivial but it's just another reminder to myself that I'm getting Older and I have not done half of the things that I would like to have done and it's all just very depressing sometimes ...I guess I need to try to have a more positive mindset but it's really hard right now.
I am so sorry Cheryl. You're not alone. It might help if you find someone to talk to, someone objective. For me, a therapist always helps when I get anxious or down (and I've certainly been there too). I hope this is a possibly for you.
I'm 52, and I cry bullshite. When you're in your 50's, the end is far closer than the beginning....and it's also when people's health generally starts to fail. And from the perspective of a guy, our days of picking up women in their 20's and 30's is over----we look old, and that's because we are. When you get into your 50's, there's are no more pretensions of hanging onto your youth; those glory-filled halcyon days have sailed away with the evening breeze, only to be replaced with failing knees and high blood pressure. I have an intense dislike of optimism---only realism is accepted in my world.
Don’t know if either of you have started menopause- but that is a real game changer. Weight gain, joint pain, loss of muscle tone, it’s really taken a toll on me. I feel so dried up.
I turned 50 last year October 22 2023, an it was like a light switch when I start feeling a lot slower an my short term memory seems to slip away an I'm bringing to think its from all the partying I did in the late 1980s into mid 1990s.. Smoked weed, an from 1990-92 ever other weekend we did LSD... But this much I'll say, I'm not doing too bad at 50, I'm not over weight still thin an able to work after having back trouble as a teenager an now I've had no problems since I was 21... Also at age 50 I find myself not putting up with bullshit anymore unlike my teens an 20s 30s even 40.. But now, it doesn't take much..
It's funny how much changed pretty much overnight. My brain fog is definitely getting worse (and I thought it couldn't GET any worse), but not giving a shit makes up for it 🤣

I am so sorry Cheryl. You're not alone. It might help if you find someone to talk to, someone objective. For me, a therapist always helps when I get anxious or down (and I've certainly been there too). I hope this is a possibly for you.

I'm 52, and I cry bullshite. When you're in your 50's, the end is far closer than the beginning....and it's also when people's health generally starts to fail. And from the perspective of a guy, our days of picking up women in their 20's and 30's is over----we look old, and that's because we are. When you get into your 50's, there's are no more pretensions of hanging onto your youth; those glory-filled halcyon days have sailed away with the evening breeze, only to be replaced with failing knees and high blood pressure. I have an intense dislike of optimism---only realism is accepted in my world.

Don’t know if either of you have started menopause- but that is a real game changer. Weight gain, joint pain, loss of muscle tone, it’s really taken a toll on me. I feel so dried up.

I turned 50 last year October 22 2023, an it was like a light switch when I start feeling a lot slower an my short term memory seems to slip away an I'm bringing to think its from all the partying I did in the late 1980s into mid 1990s.. Smoked weed, an from 1990-92 ever other weekend we did LSD... But this much I'll say, I'm not doing too bad at 50, I'm not over weight still thin an able to work after having back trouble as a teenager an now I've had no problems since I was 21... Also at age 50 I find myself not putting up with bullshit anymore unlike my teens an 20s 30s even 40.. But now, it doesn't take much..
It's funny how much changed pretty much overnight. My brain fog is definitely getting worse (and I thought it couldn't GET any worse), but not giving a shit makes up for it 🤣
