So lovely, interesting and beautiful people you had here again. I really enjoy your videos. Not only your amazing language skills but also the way you interact with people is great.
It's amazing how international Pia truly is. I liked hearing about her upbringing in different schools and how each country taught her different things. Those gentleman you met on the street were fun to hear their stories as well. 💜
This young lady is absolutely beautiful, so stunning! Obviously very smart too, she is fluent in three languages, and because her mum lives in France, if she went to stay with her, who knows, maybe she would learn French too! Your Peruvian dude was the sweetest young man too!! Great video, thank you so much 🙏🌸🌺
My daughter is half caucasian and half Japanese. She looks about 90% caucasian. Sixteen years old and luckily has had no bullying type issues at all regarding her looks. Shes a very relaxed, life is good type individual. Shes not embarrassed to speak English in front of anyone. She gets it. She can't change who she is but gets along in both worlds. We'll have to see what happens when shes out in the workforce and has to deal with adults every day.
This is good to hear. No bullying, but does she feel treated as japanese? I am german and my husband japanese. We have a baby daughter. She should grow up in Japan. Her name is completley japanese. Currently i would say she looks quite half, but its too early to tell. German people say she looks more japanese and japanese say she looks more german. Difficult 😅
The part-Peruvian guy is right. I've also thought from the first video I saw of you that despite your (then) much longer time in China, your Japanese accent sounds much better than your Chinese one. I wonder if your greater experience with language learning in general let you acquire good speaking habits from the beginning. Or maybe it's more social! Being married to a Japanese guy means you're essentially "all-in" on Japan as part of your identity.
I'm so glad you actually talk about real issues on your channel. This is a very interesting subject, its too bad for half Japanese that dont present as Japanese getting the standard foreigner treatment. I'm a non-Japanese Asian foreigner but I think the way I dress and style myself looks almost the same, and I present pretty much Japanese in Japan, I don't speak that great Japanese so they have a tendency to think I'm a half Japanese or raised abroad.
As always your interactions with 人力車 always are fun. Pia also has an open, friendly personality and she explains her experiences in a mature and measured way. Being born and partially raised in Japan, then Sweden, and now living and working in London, gives her a multicultural point of view. She is very bubbly and I'm sure she fits in where ever she is.
Thanks for the kind words Jim. I’ll have another video for you this weekend and another the weekend after that. Looking forward to your upcoming trip to Japan!
But some people say rickshaws are inhumane, especially when the driver is a woman. If you watch videos on social media about rickshaws in Japan, you will always see this opinion, so I think rickshaws in Japan will disappear soon.
I was thinking the same thing as an American - I can't judge her Japanese or Swedish but.... her English (vocally, and word choice) sounds just as native to me.
It is their loss if they don't approach her or say she is "scary". She is FLAWLESS! What a beautiful girl. Honestly I don't see Latin, I see Pilipina ❤ She looks like my Chamorro family. 💕
She would blend perfectly in Mexico. She looks straight up mestiza. Now in a more European-white Latin country like Argentina, yes, she could be mistaken for Asian. But Mexico has way more native people mixed with Spanish. Just remember, Native Americans comes from Asia, so it’s also evident in ther DNA.
And there is me, half european, half filipino, learned fluent japanese. Japanese people sometimes think I'm half japanese. When I'm flying from and to japan, the airline members greet non-japanese tourists in english, while they greet me in japanese
The guy who was born in Peru, his grandmother is Japanese and he is one quarter Japanese, he is funny! It was interesting to hear about the mixed race girl Pia, whose mother is Japanese and father is Swedish. I enjoyed the video!
Tbh, I have the opposite problem. I *look* Japanese. However, as soon as I open my mouth, they are confused. I'm Latin American Japanese raised in the States. xP
I really like rickshaw guy. He's a lot more charismatic and especially casual and genuine than you usually expect from a japanese street vendor (or whatever generic term you wanna use for "person who sells good or services by talking to people in public"). In everything I've seen they are usually less reserved, but still very billboard professional in their language and vibe. This guy has big "normal dude" vibes and i fuck with it.
When you say Pia, it is instantly a Swedish name of course. But just judging by looks, I would be torn between Latina and Filipino. Rare or indefinable beauty often comes from the most uncommon mixes of race. I would mention Marie Helvin, a former supermodel, who is a glorious mix of French, Danish and Japanese. Actress Freida Pinto is another, her looks drawing from her Indian/Portuguese descent. Anyway, keep talking to such beautiful people Anming - it does your channel no harm at all!!!
My father, an Australian, was intensely interested in Japanese culture and language. He spent two years in Japan and was completely fluent in the language. I remember him telling me that Japanese found it hard to believe he could speak Japanese. On meeting someone new he would speak several sentences before they realized. In another video Pearl called it the Glitch In The Matrix.
Yeah I’ve been in Japan for a few years and when I speak Japanese to staff or other people, most try to speak back in English. I look at it as practice for them so it doesn’t bother me anymore. I think it’s cute that I am giving them a chance to practice their English and feeling more comfortable with it.
My aunt is from Tokyo. My friend is Japanese. They definitely are Not excited about mixing races. Modern kids don’t care. Just older people lean that way.
It seems being Japanese doesn't mean being born Japan. It means both your parents are Japanese and you are completely adherent to the culture and language and look.
I have to disagree! I am mixed Japanese/American. My Japanese relatives loved me and when I was stationed in Japan when I was in the Navy, Atsugi and Yokosuka, I'd go out in Tokyo and when I spoke with the natives, they were surprised and accepted me. I also had a Japanese Girlfriend even though I looked Filipino or Mexican.
That’s awesome. I’m really happy for you and to hear that. I’m mixed race too. Originally from Brazil (adopted) and found out I’m European, Asian, and Native American. My European heritage are England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Iceland, France, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, and Cambodia. Israel. My Asian heritage are Japan, South Korea (Seoul), China, and Taiwan. I for the life of me cannot remember if I am a bit Vietnamese too.
In the US they discriminate with language too. The current trend is you use words with more syllables and you are higher class. Deliberately using big words impresses for some reason I'm yet to understand. 👍🏻🇬🇧

During 1:31 she said that her dad was Swedish and her mom was Japanese, not that her mom is in France :). But a really great video tho!! I really like you content😁🫶🫶/ from a Swede
She’s absolutely adorable and yes…since I live in N. California, she looks MEXICAN. My family is mixed but I’m Indigenous American and many situations have occurred where LATIN people get somewhat offended at me but thank goodness my SISTERS are fluent. I speak my own TRIBAL LANGUAGE which I’m trying to teach them both more of. I enjoyed the young man from PERU 🇵🇪. He’s charismatic and fun. Merry Christmas Anming “Alysa” and Tommy as well. Enjoy every Amazing moment with every new friend. 😉🎁🎄🕊️
Honestly, I think one of the biggest things that makes her look Latina is her hairstyle and false lashes. As a child she looked very Japanese with her clothes and hair. Now with a slick back bun and long lashes, very Latina looking. I think if she had bangs and maybe a long Bob with common japanese makeup, she'd look more Japanese. I never realized that a hairstyle can really alter a person's look! Beautiful either way. 😊
I can definitely relate to Pia. People tend to think I'm Mexican too. I really do look like it but I'm actually Native American. I can speak English, Spanish and Otomi (my native language) but I only speak Spanish because I married a woman from Latin America.
Yay… another Indigenous American Subscriber. I’ve been following Anming for several years. I can speak my language…ENGLISH and some SPANISH. My Sisters are part Mexican but they are totally fluent. Merry Christmas 🎁🎄🕊️. N. California Many people would get angry that I’m not fluent in Spanish sometimes as well. 😉
2nd beautiful girl from japan ive seen on this channel that said they've never been asked out on a date in japan. its crazy! japanese guys need to step their games up!
WOW, she so beautiful, and do fluent speaking i all 3 languages, for me, her English sounds like britiske accent, Swedish was perfect, and i guess her Japanese was spot-on. im Half Philippino Half Danish, Living in Sweden, planning to move to Thailand. I would date her any day. She so beautiful and cute. But wow her mom was stunning beautiful like a Model.
For me just upon looking, it’s not so much her looks but how she carries herself also. Her hair is slicked back really tight and she looks like she’s going to an important business meeting. She looks like a strong woman in her facial expressions too so it could be intimidating. I think a softer hairdo on her would make her more approachable. Don’t get me wrong she is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous but I think she has an intimidation factor even tho she’s as sweet as a marshmallow when you talk to her lol.
The tight slick back is a very rare look for a Japanese woman. This is a more prevalent look in latinas so can't blame ppl for assuming that upon initial impression.
Reminds me of this one girl who's half black and half Japanese and she prefers to live in Japan despite living there and in Texas was bad for her because of the bullying
London is close to where I was born. But I'm really glad I got out years ago. What a mix of languages this lady speaks. I didn't think she was Japanese. Looks can be deceptive.
Korea really doesn't either. Its a Asian cultural thing. What I have discovered is that they are more opened to white-mixed race but even then that varies. Bullying is a SERIOUS thing that they never really address. It always came off to us as either you "fit" or "you don't" and that's that.
My ex is mixed thai/swedish, and I thought she was Latina before we were dating. For some reason, the asian/swedish mix sometimes has that effect. On another note: she's absolutely stunning, so the lack of attention in Japan is surprising to me.
1:03 As a mixed swedish/chinese person living in Sweden I just had to say that Sweden is a really diverse country when it comes to ethnicities. There is a bigger chance that people would speak swedish to you if they saw you in public than for people to think that you are a foreigner. I don't know the statistics but im guessing about half of Sweden or maybe even more is non swedish ethnicities.
Your last sentence is sad to hear. And I'm not trying to troll or being a jerk here. It's sad to see native people's culture diluted and them lose control of their own nations no matter what people it is. And I don't blame the ppl who immigrate in mass, it's the elites in the EU who push it and the ones who make other nations unlivable with their wars and religious/tribal garbage. It's just sad for both ppl who are losing their cultural and national identity and the ppl who have to escape theirs as well.
This might be a weird thing to say, but as an Englishman, I appreciate your accent when you speak English (to Pia) also you look great/cool. Did you live in London or the surrounding counties? I’m from Essex and spent 5 years trying to learn Japanese near Tottenham Court Road. Aahhhh nail artist in London?! Your accent is nice. そして、きれいだね
Like this girl, my 5 friends who are half say they didn't face discrimination in Japan, just curiosity. They said they faced more discrimination in America and Europe than they did in Japan.
I also think so. Especially half women get fetishized in Europe. As a german woman with japanese husband, i have a baby daughter and definitley dont want that to happen to her. She will grow up in Japan
I’m “pure” American like you (I don’t think there’s any such thing as a pure American, going into DNA stuff), but it’s interesting to hear the experiences of the hafu.
A lovely young woman and I can definitely see her as Japanese. If she was to wear her hair in a more Japanese style and also clothing she would be instantly taken to be Japanese by an Australian like me. Although, I can see how frustrating it can always be seen as a foreigner. Japanese prospective partners don't know what they are missing. OFC she should not have to compromise her style to please others. 💖
Oriental pearl. The girl does look Latina. I know she's not if you would tell me That she's Half Japanese.. Then I will believe it that She's half Japanese. She does look. Latino and her body looks Latino. She's very pretty. I'm surprised that no Japanese guys have not Approached her. she's very pretty.😊❤
Hey Pearl. I know it is nearly 2025 and we are not supposed to comment on others appearances these days, but you really do suit the hair tied back look.
I have distant Japanese ancestry - 11 generations back - & more-recent Swedish ancestry - from only 3 generations back (among many other ancestral ties). IMO, it's all good (& I wouldn't be able to write this without them; so, I thank God for bringing them all together as He did). Now, to me her face appears more Japanese than Swedish & her figure looks quite Scandinavian-like (as in hour-glass like): quite nice overall (whether or not she's mistaken for a foreigner among her own Peoples). 😎👍 I have so many racial, ethnic, & regional mixes in my ancestry that I wonder if any of my ancestors had any great social issues to deal with in their lives (esp since many were at war with one another at some point in time). Now, she comes across as if Japanese men don't seem to like her looks; but, the rumor is that Japanese men aren't pursuing women much lately (& Japan's birth-rate is way down); so, currently she might be experiencing more of a national trend than a personal rejection (& hopefully this situation will change sometime soon).
My son is half chinese & half Trinidadian. Most folks think my son is Hawaiian because how he looks. He only speaks English though. He's born & raised in Canada .
PLEASE, if you see this watch the short video on the channel Remembering WW2. A Veteran has a Japanese flag with writing on it. He wants to know what it says. It would mean a lot to him.
1:00 How about you approach them? 😊 People usually don't approach random people on the street(especially in japan). Go to clubs or download a dating app and people will definitely approach you. And rather with your body, I would have a problem with ur personality, assume that guys should approach you first 😅

2nd beautiful girl from japan ive seen on this channel that said they've never been asked out on a date in japan. its crazy! japanese guys need to step their games up!
She is not beautiful, imho.
Yes, and they are both friends too. The last woman I interviewed recommended I meet Pia.
I really like the Sakuraco boxes. Looking to subscribe!
Relate to the quarter guy suuuper hard. Great video
Is that the girl who got interviewed by Akita Inaka School while holding watermelon?
Yep
So much new vocabulary I get in your videos 😂❤. You should do video on slang words. Like hillbilly and punk.
Such lovely people.
Beautiful.. En riktig pärla 😮
Thank you! Great video-interview, I really like all your videos. Thank you...
Thanks Alex. I’m making another one for this weekend.
London is close to where I was born. But I'm really glad I got out years ago. What a mix of languages this lady speaks. I didn't think she was Japanese. Looks can be deceptive.
Heja Sverige ❤❤❤❤
Korea really doesn't either. Its a Asian cultural thing. What I have discovered is that they are more opened to white-mixed race but even then that varies. Bullying is a SERIOUS thing that they never really address. It always came off to us as either you "fit" or "you don't" and that's that.
My ex is mixed thai/swedish, and I thought she was Latina before we were dating. For some reason, the asian/swedish mix sometimes has that effect.
On another note: she's absolutely stunning, so the lack of attention in Japan is surprising to me.
Lovely video 👍🎄
I just ordered my first tokyo treat box
@3:49 and @10:35 Samurai Showdown II battle start sound ? Very interesting video.
1'35 she didn't say her mom is in france, just that she is japanese
Yeah, shows how good my Swedish is lol. I thought maybe she mentioned her mom lives in France now based on what she told me. I don’t speak Swedish.
@ the subs are great otherwise, i would never guess you don’t speak swedish ;) just commented in case you wanted to correct it
@@OrientalPearl Well you got everything else Pia said in Swedish correct so you must be fairly decent at Swedish ;-)
Wow you hit a million! Congratulations!
Ha ha, yes about a year ago. Where have you been all this time my friend?
I have no idea why the subtitles stated, "...and my mom is in France." She actually said, "...and my mom is Japanese."
😎👍
I have so many racial, ethnic, & regional mixes in my ancestry that I wonder if any of my ancestors had any great social issues to deal with in their lives (esp since many were at war with one another at some point in time).
Another great video, you should interview the Peruvian rickshaw guy next time
My son is half chinese & half Trinidadian.
Most folks think my son is Hawaiian because how he looks.
He only speaks English though.
He's born & raised in Canada .
Vi behöver fler som dig i världen Pia!
I laughed at how you had her try a Kansai accent, when probably many viewers (especially me) don't understand a lick of Japanese.
Great video. She is such a lovely person.
Thank you so much friend! I’m working hard to get another video out this weekend.
PLEASE, if you see this watch the short video on the channel Remembering WW2. A Veteran has a Japanese flag with writing on it. He wants to know what it says. It would mean a lot to him.
I love the British accent❤
Not sure what’s up with the headline.
A lot of mixed Japanese people in Japan that are accepted.
It’s fun watching you guys
Thank you Christina.
Her London accent is pretty!
I think so too! Love it.
Very beautiful I’m mixed half Spanish/ Mexican 😅
Something tells me Pia is about to have a full dance card 🤭✌🏼
Such an eye opener for me as an american
That new auto dubbing feature is horrible. I hope youtibe offer a way to disable this auti dubbing feature.
1:00 How about you approach them? 😊
People usually don't approach random people on the street(especially in japan).
Go to clubs or download a dating app and people will definitely approach you.
And rather with your body, I would have a problem with ur personality, assume that guys should approach you first 😅
Pia is gorgeous! Very interesting episode!
I’m glad that you liked it. There’s another video coming this weekend.
