My children are half Japanese, half Caucasian. We raised them in a longstanding international neighborhood in Yokohama with many other children in bi-cultural families of many different nationalities. The community was a perfect environment for international families. The area where we live has had an international community for so long (since the 1860s) that few show surprise when a non-Japanese person speaks Japanese. Most around here assume that I speak Japanese before I even start speaking.
To be honest, it's weird to listen to this kind of voice ,because i rarely see any Japanese girl talks to people this way . her voice reminds of me of Japanese adult industry unfortunately. she made that type of sound on purpose i think .
She is adorable! Such radiant positivity! You can tell she loves her occupations. Good on her for leaning in to her high pitched voice and turning it into a career as a voice actress and teacher! Working with kids brings loads of fulfillment and joy!
I was born, raised and lived in Hawaii. I still spend part of the year there. And I can totally tell that Miki-san is half Japanese. I have many friends that are half white/half Japanese including relatives and past girlfriends. Miki would fit right in Hawaii if she wanted to try living in the U.S. Although, the local Japanese-Americans may still give her some grief, no different than Japan. Which is ironic because I know Japanese-Americans are NOT considered "Japanese" in Japan, but Americans.

Those genes are strong lol. I actually met Miki this summer through a friend and the last person I interviewed was recommended by another person I interviewed.
My son is half, and did have trouble in elementary, it was do to his shooting. He is now an elite shooter on Team Japan in Singapore. It probably wouldn’t be such a bad idea to get his perspective because of his interaction on the National and International venues and such.
My granddaughter is half Japanese and she looks it, her Mother and our family are American, we are blonde hair like you, but my granddaughter has the dark hair, eyes just like Japanese she looks nothing like us, ppl thought she was adopted, and now her baby which is now I guess 1/4 she looks just like her Mother! Its amazing how genes work, if she went to Japan she would definitely blend in better than Miki. If I could send you a picture I would.
What does that mean? LMAO America is a melting pot. That has NOTHING to do with looks. It’s simply a nationality. Unless you mean NATIVE American. In this case, blonde hair makes it clear you don’t mean that. As a first generation American, it’s crazy strange to refer to being American as being white with blonde hair. Black people are American. White people are American, Asian people are American, Latino people are American. Made werid. How are you all not seeing this implied racial biased?

Think this title card should be “I look white, but I am ALSO Asian” She’s clearly both. That said American is a nationality and not linked to race in anyway. She;s Japanese and American. She’s half white and half Japanese.
If everyone took a DNA test (e.g. 23andMe) we would all realize that we are all a mix and many of us are a mix of a lot of things! The more isolated and remote your ancestors were, the more homogeneous the genetics.
Most haafu w/ Japanese dads look more Asian. Not always..."most". Miki seems like a sweet soul, on top of her advice I would say, do NOT get offended if a Japanese (or other person) asks your ethnicity. It's just curiosity, most of the time. Treat people w/ kindness and respect until/unless they show you they don't deserve it.
To me tho you are a lovely person you actually do look Asian. I would not say full Asian but you do look visually of Asian descent because you are and that is wonderful.
I’m half Thai half German , look all white. No one really believes I’m Asian until they meet my mom. every restaurant I work in, they think I’m that nationality…Cajun, Italian, American white, Latino…. Never been guessed as Asian. kinda funny.
A lot of people lived or made kids after ww2 in Japan who wasn't japanese. Saying "half" today could be 1/4 or 1/8 or even 1/12 japanese in reality. (Talking about the looks only.)
Am I the only one that thinks she looks Japanese? I've lived in Tokyo for over a year and her body language seems 100% Japanese, and that style of auburn-ish dyed hair isn't THAT rare. Also, kid's singer' being ' 歌のお姉さん/Utanōnēsan' I just learned now. For some reason I just thought it was kid's entertainer.
Her bone structure looks very Japanese. While in Korea I’ve seen Koreans with bright curly red hair and freckles. I’m sure American diet has a lot to do with how she developed as well.
I don't really see it that much other than maybe high cheek bones. Kinda surprising because East Asian genetics are pretty dominant and are usually more prominent when you're mixed raced. Not sure what you're talking about when it comes to her diet. She said she's never lived in America.
What cultural factors in Japan contribute to the prevalence of this "girlish" vocal style among women? Her voice is very similar to the typical voice used by Japanese women in commercials, public announcements, etc.
