Sweden was favorite to win but only came in 12th place. Wonder if it was Py's performance that the jury saw and scored? Italy, who hardly usually give Sweden points, gave Sweden a 10-pointer. When you see Py's way of singing sheep, it feels like Italy must have liked this. Just speculation on my part of course.
In those days the juries saw the Saturday afternoon dress, and voted in the evening. I believe this was the Friday dress rehearsal, though, and so the juries wouldn’t have heard it.
A hard song to sing. Py Bäckman has recorded it in a marvelous version, it can be heard on Spotify. This version isn't her best and I also think the harmonies and the scale were made to fit Tommy's voice. She's still doing strong, Py, writing and performing evergreens 'til this day. Lovely artist 🫶
He didn't completely. He was still having a fever on Saturday but decided to perform anyway. He managed to pull off a pretty good job despite his fever and sore throat
"The song is called Steady Lose" 😂😂😂 (as you can hear it's more like "starred EUs") Well unfortunately the jury voting was based on the dress rehearsals and I'm sure it would have placed sooo much higher or even had won if Tommy himself had performed it here.
@Dramatic Scar that’s wrong. The juries gathered on the Saturday and saw the Saturday performance and could see it as many times as they liked but voted on the Saturday night. Only with the 50/50 televote and jury intro have the juries voted on the dress rehearsal.
@@oneurope This was the Friday evening dress rehearsal - the juries watched the Saturday afternoon one, so would have seen Tommy. They then voted on the evening performance
I was a jury member for the UK in 1986. In those days the juries only heard the live Saturday afternoon rehearsals ( sound only, no vision). This was the first time we heard the songs and we didn’t vote until the live show on the Saturday night. So the juries would have heard Tommy as I was also lucky enough to be in the audience in Dublin for the Saturday afternoon show in 1988.
@@herrviklund2443 She sang it in a completely different way. We are used to the Tommy Korberg performance, but I think that she made a great performance too, considering it was her first rehearsal.
@@ΝικοςΧαραλαμπους-γ8ο God you're an IDIOT! Someone has just confirmed in this comment section that they judged the song based off TOMMY'S performance. Go and be an angry gay somewhere else 🤣
She had to sing it in an arrangement and a key that was perfect for Tommy, a male singer. She would have gone for a different key for sure had she been the intended singer.
Proud of you, Py!!!!!!!! You made a hymn for Sverige/. I listen to this from childhood until this day, you did it, you made your dream :)

"It's during performances like this one that you start to notice the set." (Terry Wogan)
I remember Terry saying that after Tor Endresen’s performance in 1997
Well, Terry Wogan only appreciated the UK entries...
Stark version jag ryser så mäktig... 🥰🥰🥰
Urban Agnas is the name of the trumpet player
This is a great find ! Amazing... "if you think THAT looks like a man" Wow Pat... wow ! Love the 80s
Fast forward 10 years to when he referred to Dana International as ‘He, She or It’!!

How can I audition in Sweden“s Talang where I can sing Stad i Ljus both in Swedish and English medley.

Kul och se låtskrivaren framföra sin egna låt, intressant! Men Tommy gjorde den bättre 💯
How did Tommy recover from his throat infection overnight? Must’ve been some powerful antibiotics

The jury votes on the dress rehearsal since 2008. Until 1997 the jury voted on the final night
Back then the juries saw the dress rehearsal, but voted on the main night.
@@piloutimur3225 now seriously... where can we fact check this?

Cause the judges were evaluating this performance
What? They evaluated the final performance with Tommy, on Saturday

Omg.. this is not good.. just let tommy sing ffs
Blame Tommy for being sick then! Someone had to sing at this rehearsal and Py wrote the song. Show some fucking respect, moron.
