How long will it stay stretched with this method? I have a Resistol 20x Black Gold and a 100x Resistol that are 7-1/8 and I need them 7-1/4 (I guess I got smarter). I don't have a hat stretcher as nice as yours, I have the turn buckle design hat stretcher (Cheap) that only does the front and back, but it just isn't doing the trick (but I don't have a nice steamer like yours either). I've used my wife's clothes steamer. I guess that's probably not enough? I've steamed it and put that turn buckle stretcher in and cranked on it a little, but either I got smarter yet again, or it just isn't working.
1 size all the way around is tough, I've seen major stretches show unsightly lines if the fur is stretched in just 1 spot. The great news is you have amazing quality hats that will be very forgiving! Step 1- make sure you don't have any stuffing, tissue or added material in the sweat band (I actually see this very often) Step 2- Put your stretcher in place. Step 3, apply steam to the crown, inside and out, trying to avoid steaming the brim. (You want to get close to the texture of a mission tortilla or pancake. With the jiffy steamers, it's only 1-3 seconds of steam). Step 4, give your plastic stretcher a slight crank, while also pulling gently on the sides with your hands. *Don't try to do it all at once, just like a tortilla, your fingers can go right through the fur* If all else fails, get a hair cut!!!!
Ok here's one for you. My palm straw has i think shrunk mabye. I have a drawn out spot in the front of the brim. Its almost midway through the brim a little bump line and its kinda floppy in that spot. Its just not a flat brim. The crown is a gus cut so you can get a visual of how it should look. What can i do to flatten it???
I have a long oval head shape and while I have found a few actually Mark long oval most standard hats are not my question is if the inside hat band was sewn into a hat that was shaped for a round head if you steam the outside and stretch it in my case front to back so that the sides tighten up isn't this only temporary since you are not adjusting the leather band and as soon as the Hat gives moister sweated from rain or humidity what the heck go back to the original shape that it had when it the band was sewn in thank you for your time Simon
A cowboy hat should fit snug around your head but not be so tight that it's going to give a headache every time you put it on. It should fit snug enough around your head that if the wind should kick up, it's not going to blow off of your head that easy. If it does, then your hat may be a but too big and there's a way to solve that. By putting something inside the hat band on the inside, you can make the hat more snug around your head.
That hat stretcher is what i am looking for to make the sides of the hopt, not the back and side bigger. Where did you get it girl? what brand is this?
John 3:16 King James Version 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
