Kaizo Blocks were never the bad guys. They were forced into the role by SMM1 troll creators. The first Kaizo Block in SMB1 Level 1-1 gives you a 1-Up mushroom and doesn’t make you fall into the nearby bottomless pit.
@@mickgorro it is, yeah It's actually explicitly meant to stop you from falling in the pit I'm pretty sure. It's positioned in a way where if you were to jump directly in the pit and not make it, you'll hit the block instead
Kaizo blocks get their name from the original kaizo Mario SMW ROM hack, where they were frequently used to kill the player arbitrarily. This use was carried on in SMM 1.
The derivative of a function is a function which gives you the rate of change at any particular point in the original function, aka the slope of the line at that point. For example, for the function y = 2x, the derivative is 2, because the slope of the line is 2 everywhere, regardless of x's value. For the function y = x^2, the derivative is 2x, because the rate of change (and thus the slope of the line) increases as x increases. At x = 0, the slope is 0 (a flat, horizontal line); at x = 1, the slope is 1 (a 45 degree angle up and to the right); at x = 2, the slope is 4, and so on. It might seem a bit complicated, but it's extremely cool! For example, the area of a circle is (pi) * r^2. The derivative of that function -- the rate at which the area of the circle changes along with the radius -- is 2(pi)r... which is the formula for the circumference of a circle! Because of course, a circle that's growing will be expanding by exactly its current circumference, moment-to-moment. It's really neat and beautiful, in my opinion!
I know streamers tend to turn down the volume on their games so that viewers will be able to hear their voices better, but when a game has good music and sounds, like SMM2 does, I actually prefer it the way it was for a while in this video, when he left it up at the same volume as his mic. I could still hear both the voice and the game sounds perfectly well. I think Dave and other streamers should take a lesson from GDQ on this. They don't turn their game volume down like that. At least not as much.
I thought at first that the "no collecting stars" red planet level involved the sprite limit as well (collecting a star would free up a slot for the muncher to spawn from the note block, triggering the on-off switch), but then Dave explained how it really worked.
Now it's down to 1.399 seconds. Apparently it's possible to just bum-rush the flagpole and touch it before the bill blaster completely blocks it. I'm still trying to do it but I just cleared it the intended way, in about 14 seconds.
@lik-zf5xx Get out of here, bot. Besides,God the father is the one true God, He reigns with his son, Jesus. Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and rose again on the third day (because He is also God), and his spirit lives in everyone who believes.
Dave: "Watch this." (I'm watching) 8:08 is the moment when I pause the video and give a like. This is exactly the kind of content I was expecting and I wasn't disappointed!
If these levels were hand-picked by DGR, then you KNOW that these are going to be some darned-good levels. Also, if the DGR guarantee logo makes an appearance, that automatically means that he is going to beat the level on the next attempt.
Yeah, they were just invisible, but in places that were obvious. I thought it would be more like actual kaizo blocks that would end up saving you from an enemy or trap like on some speed run levels where an invisible block pushes you down to a lower path that's actually the intended way to go.
omg I currently have the world record on the level at 20:30 (the level in the thumbnail) lol. Edit: The record shown onscreen is an old world record I got it down to 1.399 seconds

Just regarding that PRIME energy drink anecdote...I have a form of coffee that has 6x the caffeine in regular coffee. Deathwish Coffee. Felt it needed to be said.
Was expecting Low Rider from the cowbell level but Don’t Fear The Reaper is just as good. Also 20:41 it just wouldn’t be a DGR video without a softlock :)
I'm just going to put this out, Prime has 200 mg, ghost and ban both have 200 as well with reign having 300. Sure, 20z soda bottles can have has around 50-60mg; however, if you look at Mountain dews flavor major melon. A 20oz zero sugar has 113.
Silly Surface Surfer Such a Super…cool level …If it was actually the same speed as the original song the off-rhythm note block sound would have at least been less noticeable……blegh… I have a fever and the cure is…to just add the other drums already!!

Isn't it possible to hit it while trying to jump over the pit? Is it really that far back in the original?

I think it's 4 blocks back? I could be wrong, but it's a safe one that isn't there to screw you 😂
Super mario lost levels is the first troll level. He did it himself, miyamoto

In case anyone is wondering: The song in 10:15 is called don't fear the reaper by blue oyster cult =)
Thx=)
So I'm not the only one who new :D
FWIW, The cowbell in the song is actually a metronome.
Also that level is awesome 😂
Question: do you know it from Beatstar?

I use a compressor extension for my Firefox Browser that makes the game volume louder by evening out louder and quieter parts of the audio.
I agree so much ! I sometimes personally don't care at all to hear the streamer's voice, I just want to hear the game
A wiggler with wings is of course called a wingler.
RE the groceries: That's not tool-assisted, that's just co-op! Totally legitimate category.
Didn't know entity limit shenanigans could be used to create these small key collecting mini games. Such a nice concept.
Thank you, I had it on the tip of my tongue but couldn't get it. 😅

OMG! My Mom and I absolutely love the SNL “Cowbell” sketch! That was an awesome level, albeit a bit chaotic.
FINALLY! A video where we get to hear the mario maker sounds! PLEASE keep it like this for ALL videos. We ENJOY the mario maker sounds!!!
That cowbell level was one of the best music levels I have heard. Most of them have you running. Great design and music!!
I wish it was more than 8 bars on a loop

9:48 I could picture Will Ferrell playing the cowbell in my head. This level is amazing.
1:01 Dave explains his performance, saying he thought you were supposed to eat Kaizo blocks this whole time.
So you can eat both kaizo blocks and fish? Good to know!
I'm currently using your video to keep my 9 month old granddaughter happy. She loves watching you play. I do too. Much love to you and the family. ❤
Did Dave even notice that last troll level had a WR of 1.6s?

@lik-zf5xx what was that all about
That Blue Oyster Cult level was so dope, didn't expect it for some reason and it made me hype as shit. I'm sure the weed had nothing to do with it.
