This presentation will give an update on the epidemiology, evidence supporting clinical decision making, and current management protocols for patients in traumatic cardiac arrest.
Specific areas of controversy covered will include the myth of futility of resuscitating patients in traumatic cardiac arrest, which reversible causes of arrest should be prioritised, and whether elements of the routine management of medical cardiac arrest (such as chest compressions and administration of intravenous adrenaline) should be performed when trauma is the cause.
