I am waaay late watching this, but THANK YOU, Laura, for breaking this all down & letting everyone know that you can be organized without your space(s) looking like that!!

The word “staging” comes to mind for these photos. As you mentioned it is a concept used in magazine photos but does not reflect real life.

I’m too practical to purchase things just for their colorful packaging. But it’s sure pretty to see !

I agree with you. The refrigerator to me is a show / sample. I never keep that much food in our refrigerator. I also keep fresh food in it.
I’m not a colorful person. I’m more neutral color / country style .
I have a two shelf cupboard for a pantry so I do use clear contains for our dry foods .

Hi Laura! New subbie here 🙂 You have a nice presence on camera - feel like I've known you forever and we're friends lol! I appreciate you breaking this down as you did. While I love rainbow order, I just can't bring myself to order my books according to the color of their covers - ugghh!! I have certain authors that I have to organize their books together, in order published, and of course specific genres that have to go together. Oh, and I'm looking forward to GOHQ starting on Sept. 9!!!! Looking forward to watching lots more of your videos - thanks!!

I love to put books, or anything for that matter, in ROYGBIV order. I find it calming to look at. I keep my clothes in rainbow order, too. Not sure that I have anything else that I have enough of to keep that way. Since the rainbow is the tangible of God’s promise to not flood the whole earth again, no wonder it is calming for me to look at. Thanks for your video, Laura!

☹️ I'm going to box up a lot of my stuff and label it where I want it to go. I'm in my 60s. Where I'm living, they'll toss out all my stuff when I pass. Unless I have someone listed on one of those boxes or something. I'm single & I doubt any of my family wants much of my stuff. Think about that, when you're starting a collection or hoarding

Hi ! I agree ..I’m 62 and we live in a mobile home in the country.I’m more a country style person . I’m just started this summer to declutter our items as I do summer cleaning .

I'm 72 and moved in with my son. I am going through everything. I am tossing (recycling) papers. No longer need the outlines from every meeting of every nonprofit group I worked with. Don't want my 30-year-old son to have to go thru it all.

I could never organize like this. First I am a hidden organizer. So everything behind closed doors. Even in the pantry I couldn’t handle that many clear containers. Maybe in cupboards.
I also hate the rainbow of everything. I like things by category not color. EXCEPT the children’s books concept. That I could totally work with.
My other issue with the Home Edit is that part of editing is cutting out the unnecessary. There is absolutely no decluttering in their process. At least, not part of what they show the viewer.

I’m a ladybug (macro organizer). These spaces are wonderful but after a week I need to put everything away fast so this space wouldn’t last. 😅

That makes sense because The Home Edit is geared toward those who prefer visual and detailed/micro organization (Bees) and Bees are the polar opposite of Ladybugs.

Just curious… do any of you know anyone who actually organizes like this? It seems to me that this is over the top OCD.

I try to organize my fridge like this. I love how it keeps everything nicer looking and things like the go-go's aren't falling all over. When a bin gets empty I take it out to clean and then it's ready to fill again. All my fridge bins are clear. I also have some that are for fruits and vegetables. They have a screen in the bottom for them to drain after I wash them. It sure keeps the grapes and cherries good longer.

      No, I don't! And I don't either - I find it too stressful!!

We all have different styles. Find one that works for you. My style is more detailed and my friend’s is more loose, yet both our houses look welcoming. ❤ I use rainbow order, lots of containers, labels, and taking advantage of my small space. My biggest peeve is to find needed items.

Great video. Home Edit is pretty but not practical.
