I love your enthusiasm, Cone. Let's not forget: Luca is hurt. And his injury could keep going for awhile. I, one hundred percent agree that the NBA is the best for big deals. I think it's because of smaller team size--every trade has big impact on a 15 man roster.

Admittedly this trade is unhinged but i think youre severely underrating just how good this dallas defense is about to be. Plus Kyrie and AD are going to be an insanely synergistic duo.
Blud, AD is NOT Luka. I agree it's a good position fit, but Luka was their franchise star for the next like 7-10 year. Their franchise star is Streetclothes AD now
I'm still sitting here in bed a couple hours later after the trade happened and stunned, Cuz like what the actual fuck, how on earth is Luka a Laker?!?!?!?
Poor Dirk, he was pretty happy leaving the franchise in Luka's hands. That's what you get when you work hard and are loyal .. you get destroyed by morons with too much money.
Lakers fan perspective here : I....I am so fucking lost man, we've been through hell and back for 6+ years with AD and I thought that duo would separate only via Bron retiring.... I miss Marshawn Dimadome Davis already man 😭... And beyond AD, Max Christie was having a phenomenal coming into being this season for us and I believed so much in him, just the defensive-minded combo guard we needed after Ham terrorism.... I mean just look at the Knicks game.... Yes I understand and know full well who is Luka, but... 2 heavy showstopper ball-handlers with shaky defensive status ? I guess the upsides with Luka FAR outweigh the similarity this situation has with the Russ era .... And what becomes of Austin's role on the team as, really a primary ball handler and playmaker and shot creator, as of late ? Does he just become a spot-up in the corner for Luka now ? After him improving his game so much ? We REALLY NEED Quality Centers NOW, starter and bench (Koloko and Hayes and Jamison not it man, they have cool moments but also massive CTE dawg)
Honestly as crazy as this is, it’s kinda a lateral move for the season. Most likely both teams get worse since they don’t have enough time to get adjusted.
It is a both teams get worse trade for sure. Assuming Luka was going to get back healthy, they were a championship contender easily. Now they are not, not even close. As for the Lakers, they need years to build anything of note around Luka .. and they have zero assets. Good luck if they can get it done in even 4 years. Luka will be tired of playing and probably retire early. He said so in many interviews that he prefers retiring over a long carreer.
@ I don't care about the Laker's future. They should have a normal rebuild like any other team in the league and use the draft like any other franchise. It makes absolutely no sense for the Mavericks to trade Luka away in a possible championship year where their roleplayers are stronger than ever. They trade him for an older center, which they have 3 already, 2 of which are already excellent, 1 maybe as good as AD if he keeps developing. They could have traded for litteraly double that value with any other team.
Mavs fan -- bought a signed luka jersey -- crying now -- but seriously, if we can make a good consolidation trade for someody (fox maybe?) it could be okay..?? i guess. But 1 first is wild. Especially when the lakers had more. It feels like we've now morgataged the future for the next 2 years of ky and ad. Hopefully we can get fox in a package including klay+more but idek
It was already hard to be a Mavs fan before, when they lost Seth Curry for nothing and then lost Brunson for nothing. This team has been completely rebuilt several times in the Luka era. If they trade Powell now, no player of the original team is left. Don't they understand that consistancy and chemistry is just as important as talent and fit?
I often wonder how committed Luka was because he is over weight constantly. Plus he had bigs to back up his defensive failures in Dallas. With him in the lineup, Dallas had to play his style. I’m not sure if this isn’t the best move for Dallas. Who really knows if Luka’s injuries wasn’t a protest against FO.
@@macmac6064 Blamed for what? AD was playing amazingly well and Luka is instantly the best player on the Lakers. I don't understand what you are trying to say.
To find trades this insane, you have to go way back. Only ones that come to mind were the Terrible Three (working title) done by the Clippers in the late 70s when they traded: 21 year old Moses Malone midseason for 2 first round picks and that's it Traded 25 year old MVP Bob McAdoo midseason for John Gianelli and CASH CONSIDERATIONS And then traded ROY Adrian Dantley for Billy Knight and that's it. ^The three worst trades in NBA history btw. So Mavs fans, there's a silver lining. It can always be worse
No it can't be worse. You build a championship contender around a generational talent, a player that is easily top 3 in the leauge, recognised around the world and a massive draw for stadium seats and NBA views .. and then you trade that player away for scraps. Not that AD is a bad player, but they could have traded for so much more with any other team. Now the Mavs might be an okay team still, but they are no longer a contender and people will no longer show up in droves to their stadium. The team is basically dead if Kyrie retires or gets traded again. Meanwhile the Lakers, who were already a broken team that could not function, get to rebuild around the biggest young star after Wemby, but they can't .. as they have no assets to build and just traded away their most valuable player in the process. They need to tank for years and hope for good draft picks .. and then with some luck they have a contending roster in 3-4 years, when Luka's prime is almost over and Wemby is reigning in the NBA with Cooper Flagg. It is a dumb move for both teams and makes absolutely no sense.
That was mostly a joke, but I liyerally just listed out two trades that were worse. So no, it could definitely be worse. The Lakers situation you described is quite a significant exaggeration though. Their asset position isn't perfect but it's far from as bad as you described. But I'm really not interested in an exhaustive discussion on that front.
@ I didn't know about these players, they are way before my time. I guess good on you for remembering these trades. It seems incredibly unfair to the teams getting fleeced, just like this one. Luckily I'm not interested in a discussion either. Even if I was, I don't even know these players, so I would be completely in the dark :) Suffice to say, the joke didn't land, but I respect your historic player knowledge. EDIT: And yes the Laker's current situation is described a bit hyperbolic. In theory it is correct though, there is no reason to believe this lineup will have stability and defensively it will be a problem too.
I think the Mavs didn't do too bad. They actually have a pet solid team with good defense. Luka has been out for a while and they still win games. I wonder if him not making an all star team made him freak out
AD isn’t “injury prone”.. he’s just not injury immune. Only 9 players in the NBA have played more games this season.. 76 games last season. Luka however has played 20 less games than AD this season
AD is made of wet tissue paper. Luka went to the Finals last season. Luka is 25. AD is going to be 32 real soon. This is the dumbest trade in history made by the dumbest GM in history. AD isn't injury prone? He's made of wet tissue paper.
@ and then you got lebron and ad. obviously you're not gonna be contending for a title every single year but when things are starting to look dark for the lakers they somehow always get pretty much the best player in the world at that time to play for them.
@@hobowithagun24and then you got Bron in free agency and traded a bunch of picks for AD. The golden child spoiled franchise of the league has never experienced an actual rebuild in their history they just rely on lucking into Superstars. 5 years of being mediocre is par for the course for teams that are at the top of the league, let alone others that have been bad for most of their history excluding 1 or 2 really good teams they might’ve had.
@@martiijn They are going to be irrelevant for a championship for a good while now. They already were pretty much an outsider, now they have no defense left. AD and Christie were their best defenders.
As a Celtics fan, if the Celtics traded Tatum for this return id be so livid and Luka when hes healthy is a better player than Tatum at least offensively
@franjes9999 Seriously like the mavs should’ve gotten a way better package and moreee picksssss, fuck all that they should’ve never traded himmmmm😭😭😭😭😭 the mavs fucked up there future with this Disaster
If you are truly a Mavs fan, you would want a lot more than an old injury prone center and a mid defensive guard for Luka. They even had to give up Kleber, who isn't nothing to sniff at as a defender. They could have traded Luka to any other team and got a better deal for him. If they traded him to the Thunder, the Mavs would have a future treasure chest of picks.
I’m just concerned that a Laker will brake Prime players just like how they break Prime AD prime LeBron and Prime Westbrook. I’m legitimately really sad man. Good Job NBA making the rating plummeted even more😢😢😢. I guess it makes sense for the Laker.
The mavs traded their future away for possible short term success, this gamble will curse the franchise if they don’t win a championship while AD is still a good player.
Tampering with the League just happened. As a Mavs fan I'm completely in disbelief. Just about the most horific thing that I could think of, no .. this is something I could never think of. We trade one of my absolute favorite players, the one I became a Mavs fan for, to one of the teams I dislike the most, for a player I also really dislike. And just the trade alone without any feelings involved makes absolutely no sense. Lakers already were a defensive liability, they lose their defensive anchor. Mavs already have 2 excellent centers and have no need for a 3rd one. I guess they can play AD at the 4, but that ruins their spacing. None of this makes sesne. And if they really wanted to trade Luka, why wouldn't they trade with litteraly any other team? They could have gotten the world for him, a much, much better deal anywhere else. Trade him to the thunder and get a treasure chest in picks for the future, that would make so much more sense. (and I'd become a thunder fan and have 10 championships in a row)

LeBron is washed. Luka has been a better player for many years now, he could teach Lebron a few things instead.
Shocking! Stunning! Bombshell! Wtf?!?!?!?!? Just wow!
I gave my perspective as a Laker fan in another comment but dawg, mavs fans.....wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy 💀Even your franchise Goat (Dirk) is like....WTF IS WE DOING ? Prayers for y'all 🕊️🕊️🕊️
For whoever even TRIES to justify this trade for Dallas by bringing up defense; you like kids
Fr. This was a terrible trade for the mavs 😂
They pretty much gifted the lakers a championship
@@rektz2457nah lakers ain’t winning this year. Too many holes in their roster

lol imagine luka surpasses LeBron’s legacy in LA
He’s younger so it’s possible
Not to hard to do just a ring and finals MVP and playing there for a decade can do it
As a Lebron fan, yeah Luka can easily do that. this trade is fucking insane lol.
yea cause lebron was in his 30s when he joined, luka is 25 not even in prime
I got into nba this time last year, and thought that the mavs were good cos they have this generational player, I watch an amazing run and then this
In football/soccer term it's like selling prime Messi/CR7 that scored 50+ goals a season to PSG/City/Arabian League out of thin air
Absolute madness.
I hope the Mavs lose every game they play until the end of time. This is one of the biggest betrayals in sports history.
Chill out bruh
I'm with you, downfall of Mavs begins NOW💯💯💯💯
This Trade is MASSIVE
Cone gone wild
I’m a lakers fan and I live in Ireland I was just going through the motions think we aren’t doing anything I would miss a few games because they would be on that late yeah now we have Luka I won’t be missing one. We still need to make moves we need a centre
Lowkey youre severely overestimating the lakers this year defensively they have nobody at this point and arent gonna be able to get it before the deadline, they will need an offseason to really fix up the defense
I love your enthusiasm, Cone. Let's not forget: Luca is hurt. And his injury could keep going for awhile.
I, one hundred percent agree that the NBA is the best for big deals. I think it's because of smaller team size--every trade has big impact on a 15 man roster.
So what? Davis is hurt all the time. What has Davis done as a #1 option? Nothing.
Conditioning? You suspend Luka to send a message. You don't trade him for tissue paper and a FRP.
The stupidest GM of all time..... only the stupidest GM of all time would do this deal.
Stupidest GM of all time. Kyrie and Klay should lead a team mutiny to get Nico fired, and the trade rescinded.
Yea but how can u play for same team again? How can you trust front office after move like this?
As a Laker fan, I'm sad to see AD go.. but holy shit we got Luka!
Lakers fan here. We are so back.
But the defence will be very bad no?
no we’re not 😭😂 our defense just got worse..
@@TheRealAllenIversonthis is a future move you weren’t winning anything this year anyways
@TheRealAllenIverson who cares bro luka is young.
@@gunny-lneck4352the mavs spent 7 years building around Luka for him to work, the lakers need to remake their entire team for this to work because their team does not fit for Luka, and it will take 4-5 years for it to work out. Luka will be out of his prime when they get this to work
How is it win now? Then you trade the guy that would make it possible.
5:15 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I thought to myself“hell no ain’t no way they can do that” THEY JUST GOT LUKA ANYTHING POSSIBLE
Admittedly this trade is unhinged but i think youre severely underrating just how good this dallas defense is about to be. Plus Kyrie and AD are going to be an insanely synergistic duo.
they got worse point blank period lol
Blud, AD is NOT Luka. I agree it's a good position fit, but Luka was their franchise star for the next like 7-10 year. Their franchise star is Streetclothes AD now
Point creating seriously lacks when Luka is not on pitch. Not to mention clutch situations.
Cone Be Real Brodie The OKC In Us Is Happy As Hell Rn 😂😂😂 We Run The West Gang
2k trades are looking more and more realistic now.
Remember , Luka needs to sign that extension in 26'
we live in a simulation lol
im crying as a mavs fan
Bruh I woke up and needed an explanation thank you 😭
Mavs fans… I feel for you. What in the fuck is happening
Could you imagine a world where Luka and Bronny get their first ring with LeBron.
I'm still sitting here in bed a couple hours later after the trade happened and stunned, Cuz like what the actual fuck, how on earth is Luka a Laker?!?!?!?
adam silver been doing some work behind the scenes lmao
I hope dirk is feeling alright
Poor Dirk, he was pretty happy leaving the franchise in Luka's hands. That's what you get when you work hard and are loyal .. you get destroyed by morons with too much money.
I am so lost for words.
How much help Lebron need 😭 bring Shai already
Honestly as crazy as this is, it’s kinda a lateral move for the season. Most likely both teams get worse since they don’t have enough time to get adjusted.
It is a both teams get worse trade for sure. Assuming Luka was going to get back healthy, they were a championship contender easily. Now they are not, not even close.
As for the Lakers, they need years to build anything of note around Luka .. and they have zero assets. Good luck if they can get it done in even 4 years. Luka will be tired of playing and probably retire early. He said so in many interviews that he prefers retiring over a long carreer.
This is about the lakers future. 40 year old LeBron and 32 year old injury prone ad weren’t real contenders anyway.
Somewhere, somehow, Peter Parker and Dr. Strange need to fix this sh*t, stat.
Its definitely hard to be a mavs fan after this the mavs ruined my 2025
It was already hard to be a Mavs fan before, when they lost Seth Curry for nothing and then lost Brunson for nothing. This team has been completely rebuilt several times in the Luka era. If they trade Powell now, no player of the original team is left. Don't they understand that consistancy and chemistry is just as important as talent and fit?
This was such an nba mafia ah trade. what else , Gianni’s to Boston Celtics ? Tf oh man mavs fans😂 this could genuinely give a loyal one a stroke
Same Cone
Mavs just destroyed their franchise.
Lakers 2025!
AD, kyrie and klay on the same team feels like I'm hallucinating
Luka complained to more than just the refs and the Mavs FO got fed up with him lmao
Dude what in the actual F just happened?!?!?
The Craziest trade of my life
i guess Lakers need another guy to get blamed lol
@@macmac6064 Blamed for what? AD was playing amazingly well and Luka is instantly the best player on the Lakers. I don't understand what you are trying to say.
To find trades this insane, you have to go way back. Only ones that come to mind were the Terrible Three (working title) done by the Clippers in the late 70s when they traded:
21 year old Moses Malone midseason for 2 first round picks and that's it
Traded 25 year old MVP Bob McAdoo midseason for John Gianelli and CASH CONSIDERATIONS
And then traded ROY Adrian Dantley for Billy Knight and that's it.
Even if I was, I don't even know these players, so I would be completely in the dark :)
Suffice to say, the joke didn't land, but I respect your historic player knowledge.
EDIT: And yes the Laker's current situation is described a bit hyperbolic. In theory it is correct though, there is no reason to believe this lineup will have stability and defensively it will be a problem too.
Thunder fans are sleeping well, all Western conference teams that are supposed to be contenders are falling apart
That is recency bias for sure. AD has been injury prone for all of his career .. except the last 2 seasons.
Rob Pelinka just saved his job
Could potentially be a worst trade the the PG to LA trade
Lakers getting another superstar for the 30th year in a row smh y'all are so spoiled 💔💔
they're the nba's golden child. they will never allow the lakers to be irrelevant.
@@martiijn ummm 2013-2018 were dark times for the lakers lol we’re not immune to a shitty rebuild
Somebody gotta get fired!!😂😂
I’m Mav fans and I’m gonna to quit watching NBA if the Laker Break Luka just like how they did with Westbrook or LeBron.
Why😂
SOMEONE HELD THE GM AT GUNPOINT BECAUSE THERES NO FUCKING WAY, (COMING FROM A GIANNIS FAN)
I hated it at the beginning but it is growing on me as a Mavs fan
Mavs really just traded their whole franchise away to save money.....
This is Mavs fans 9/11 and Cone went almost Steven A. Smith.
How to recover from this unless Luka already gained 20 points since being injured?
LeGM doing his thing
The first video I saw here about that trade, I thought the guy was trying so hard to clickbait people.
I never thought it was actually real.
