Even though Luka is better than Vince, the Raps trade was still the worst ever cause they got NOTHING for Carter, AD is a million times better than Aaron and Eric Williams and conditional picks. Horrible nightmare trade for the Mavs for sure but still have to give it to the Carter trade as the worst ever.
My instinctual reaction is that this is just bad for both teams, Lakers have little depth outside of LeBron and now Luka, and now the Mavs have retooled a finals team for a 31 Year old AD. Just unbelievable.
Lakers have a future post LeBron, and could very feasibly retool and be a contender right now. Mavs, ad and kyrie will be interesting but both are getting up there in age. Mavs definitely lost this.

man as a non native english speaker, i aways notice when i hear a new word, and being completely honest, the only person i hear using the word baffling is rusty lmao, and he uses it a lot
This is one of, or a combination of, the following three things, in order of likelihood: 1. The Mavs owner wanting to maximise profits by not paying Luka 2. Luka's injuries and/or conditioning being even worse than talked about 3. The NBA intervening in some way, promising a return to the Mavs (possibly to the casino they've been wanting for ages)
Even then, the hawks owner was a known racist. And not only that but Russell had not yet played in the NBA and was considered a poor archetype for a center. The trade can at least be defended given some context since Russell didn’t want to play there and Auerbach saw something in Russell that others didn’t. This is the mavericks trading a top 3 player after he’s already proven how good he is
Obviously, the Lakers wanted Maxi. Luka has been thrown in the deal for salary considerations. Also, are they still Double Dirk, while playing for the Lakers?
Mavs lost the moment Cuban sold the team. This was a "save money" move, since the new owners didn't wanted to pay Luka's 345mil contract extention. Ironically, he WAS the guy that sold out their arena!
To be 100% honest, this is the kind of deal where I feel neither side won. Sure, the Lakers by getting the better AND younger player, an MVP caliber player, "won", hands down, but at the same time all the upside of this move is that you would have Luka after LeBron leaves, but without LeBron that Lakers roster is even worse than the Mavs, and this front office has not shown ability to build contending teams for the better part of a decade now despite having two top10 players in the roster. And in the "now" timeline you just traded away 70% of your defensive prowess and TRIPLED the skillset of your top3 remaining player. Because I assume LeBron will be the PF and Luka the SF, with Reaves as PG. That's 3 players with very limited defensive upside and are most effective with the ball in their hands, playing 35-40 minutes together per night. Again, it's way too good of a deal to turn down, but it doesn't feel like an Earth shaking move to me, either now or in the future. For the Mavs feels like a "win right" move, but pretty dumb to try and win now with a core of injury prone dudes in their 30s, while, of course, giving away the best player in the trade. They do exponentially improve their defense, but that is moot if you part ways with your best player.
I was at a concert, and midway through with my homie and my I saw in my notifications that this fuckshit happened. Fucking baffling, never expected this whatsoever. This shit is fucking nuts and I still can’t process this, what the actual fuck.
That made sense Luka asked for the trade. He could say, "Lakers, or I go back home to Europe and finish my career." And... he could do that. Mavs get a 1-2 front court with AD and Gafford. Washington goes back to SF. Klay goes back to SG. And Kyrie goes back to PG. For now, this makes a lot of sense. It's just crazy it actually happened!!
*Mark Cuban making this 9/11 of the sports world level trade @ 1:30am is like texting ALL your exes while you’re waisted drunk on a Saturday night. Nothing good can come from it!*
1. If I’m the mavs new owner and I didn’t know about this, I need an internal investigation asap. 2. There is no way you have Luka “health and conditioning” concerns and chose to trade him for Anthony Davis..that’s a joke right. 3. If the mavs gm didn’t even pick up the phone to call others he is incompetent. I promise you teams would have given up their entire fan base to get Luka! Apparently he listened to no other trade offers as Dallas called the lakers not the other way around! Dude was just in the finals and will be a top 3 player in the league for the next 5 years min. 4. If you’re a Mavs fan you have every right to exit stage left and trade in your gear.
I assume the Lakers thought the Mavs trading Luka Doncic was way too good to be true (what do they know that we don’t?) and then met with Luka to see if there was anything wrong - and there wasn’t, since they traded for him
Unfortunately they can’t the only way they could veto the trade other than it breaking there rules which from what I know it doesn’t is if the league owned the team. Like when the then hornets were owned by the league after a hurricane in New Orleans
If Luca told the Mavericks that he's made his money he's done with basketball and he wants to just go back to Europe and chill so he's going to retire at the end of the year is that something they would have had to tell the Lakers before making this deal question mark because that's the only way that this makes sense.
This is the type of trade that makes you wonder if anybody in the nba cares about winning or is it all just a drama filled money grab at our expense. Wtf are the mavs thinking?
We shouldn’t be surprised 🙄 every-time the lakers start slipping or becoming irrelevant one of these mega stars fall into there lap it’s highly annoying
Genuinely there are like at least 20 other better offers that they could’ve gone with. OKC with their endless supply of picks and talent, Toronto with Scottie, RJ, and the 2025 1st just to name a few
This is shady AF. Basically the league office wants the Lakers set up for the next decade, otherwise a competent league office would not allow this travesty.

For the lakers, I believe this trade was more so about being competitive post lebron. For Dallas it was just a really dumb trade
Lakers win because this isn't a win now move. Luka is only 25.
You get LUKA, it can’t be bad for the lakers unless LUKA gets cooked with injuries more than AD.
Lakers have a future post LeBron, and could very feasibly retool and be a contender right now. Mavs, ad and kyrie will be interesting but both are getting up there in age. Mavs definitely lost this.
The Lakers only """"win"""" this trade for the sole reasons that Luka is 25 and they have multiple years to build around him even after LeBron is gone
I’ve been fighting the flu today and I honestly thought the fever was making me hallucinate when I saw this trade ☠️
This is honestly why I love the NBA. Past like 6-7 years the trade deadline has been eerily quiet and then something big happens
I keep repeating to myself aloud that Luka Doncic just got traded. And a part of my brain is telling me, "That's cap. Stop lying." It refuses to believe this is real. I'm in awe?
As a fan sinze 2021-ish, this is my first ever major major trade ive experienced
My reaction. I just woke up for work. Wtf
As an NBA fan for over 45 years, *I* have never seen anything like THIS in my entire goddamn life.
We need to investigate NBA asap. THERE IS NO WAY THIS TRADE HAPPENED WITHOUT NBA INFLUENCE
This is our modern day Babe Ruth to the Yankees trade.
This is probably the craziest trade I’ve seen in my life. Out of complete nowhere
I know one thing, NBA podcasts this week will be insane. I'm investing in popcorn stock.
They didnt say how long the meeting was. Pelinka prob conferenced called Jeannie Bus and others and within seconds they were screaming at Pelinka to do it with no takebacks 😂😂😂
the mavs saw the wolves have one of the worst trades ever , and nico literally said hold my beer. Wtf actually was this trade
Fun fact, the mavs gm is the same guy who messed up the curry Nike deal
Really? No wonder. This whole trade is wack. A lose-lose one.
Don’t understand how these ppl have jobs
Absolutely gobsmacked. Flabbergasted. And I don’t use those words lightly
Tried quitting vaping, yesterday was day one. This is the mf biggest headache I’ve ever had bc I loved Luca.
I still feel like this is a massive prank, how is this trade possible. Like I’m a super casual fan but even I know this is unbelievably stupid. I can’t
I was on a night out then I come home to see this honestly for about 40 minutes I was shocked so bad it sobered me up and woke me up like that 😭😭 I’m actually speechless
man as a non native english speaker, i aways notice when i hear a new word, and being completely honest, the only person i hear using the word baffling is rusty lmao, and he uses it a lot
This is one of, or a combination of, the following three things, in order of likelihood:
1. The Mavs owner wanting to maximise profits by not paying Luka
2. Luka's injuries and/or conditioning being even worse than talked about
3. The NBA intervening in some way, promising a return to the Mavs (possibly to the casino they've been wanting for ages)
This is some Hawks trading Bill Russell to the Celtics for some cash and the ice capades type shit
Even then, the hawks owner was a known racist. And not only that but Russell had not yet played in the NBA and was considered a poor archetype for a center.
The trade can at least be defended given some context since Russell didn’t want to play there and Auerbach saw something in Russell that others didn’t. This is the mavericks trading a top 3 player after he’s already proven how good he is
This just in: the entire mavs front office just went on an insane 48 hour crack fueled bender.
It is actually hilarious that if you put that trade into 2k, even the freaking game would laugh at how ridiculous it is.
Obviously, the Lakers wanted Maxi. Luka has been thrown in the deal for salary considerations. Also, are they still Double Dirk, while playing for the Lakers?
This was 100% adam silver type kf guy stepping up and pulling strings. We about to see another laker celtics rivalry.
This is probably it. Its an awful trade and just so happens to benefit the largest market with lebron already there
Mavs lost the moment Cuban sold the team.
This was a "save money" move, since the new owners didn't wanted to pay Luka's 345mil contract extention.
Ironically, he WAS the guy that sold out their arena!
Mavs: we have a whiteboy
Lakers Management: Licking their lips salivating 😂😂
LeRuckus specifically. Dude collects whiteboys like he is Thanos.
Wow now. AD is definitely top 10. We underrate his defense ability and he’s really good on offense
Yes but 31 and very fragile ...
He can be #1 if he wants, he’s still injury prone
@@thetylifeso fragile he’s played more regular season games than Luka the last 2 years. Y’all are gonna wake up soon
@@comictheconIt doesn’t matter if he COULD be better than Luka, he isn’t and he’s 7 years older with more chance of injuries.
Last time i was this early luka was a mav
12:45 almost let it rip LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
This is going to be a cornerstone moment in NBA history, we will talk about this 20-30 years from now.
Craziest trade ever
Luka did not ask for a trade, the Mavs did this by themselves
*Mark Cuban making this 9/11 of the sports world level trade @ 1:30am is like texting ALL your exes while you’re waisted drunk on a Saturday night. Nothing good can come from it!*
This is the craziest and most lopsided trade I’ve seen in American sports ever, EVER.
NOTHING about this makes sense, NOTHING.
Go look at the Paul George trade again & come back. AD is a top 75 player
4. If you’re a Mavs fan you have every right to exit stage left and trade in your gear.
the new owners are probably behind this
I assume the Lakers thought the Mavs trading Luka Doncic was way too good to be true (what do they know that we don’t?) and then met with Luka to see if there was anything wrong - and there wasn’t, since they traded for him
Adam Silver had the Mavs GM at gunpoint when this trade was happening... there is no way this is real man
I'm expecting to wake up and have this all be a fever dream
Sounds funky
Adam silver gonna block this trade for basketball reasons or smth
Honestly I hope he does
Unfortunately they can’t the only way they could veto the trade other than it breaking there rules which from what I know it doesn’t is if the league owned the team. Like when the then hornets were owned by the league after a hurricane in New Orleans
bro adam silver probably called them up to make them do this trade to try and catch the lakers back up to the celtics 😂
Luxury Tax. They weren't going to give him the extension and the GM wanted to get something out of it. That is 100% my guess.
Yeah but couldn’t they get another much better offer? Why just the lakers?
If Luca told the Mavericks that he's made his money he's done with basketball and he wants to just go back to Europe and chill so he's going to retire at the end of the year is that something they would have had to tell the Lakers before making this deal question mark because that's the only way that this makes sense.
Nico's catching hands from Mavs fans in the open street
I saw the ESPN notification on my phone and immediately shut down everything I was doing so I could sit on the couch in complete silence
Mavs wanted a player who will get injured for touching grass and skip the rest of season. It makes perfect sense.
That owner is apparently also the guy who fumbled the bag with Steph for Nike lol
can't wait for the next Lakers & Mavs game too see Luka absolutely cook Dallas and talk shit to the entire arena
The Mavs fans will cheer for him
Nice analyses. Many very good points!
The mavs owner has to be a secret laker/okc fan
It would be really funny if JHS turned into the next SGA type of player (A foot note in a trade that no one cares about that becomes a star)
The only way this makes sense is if the Lakers find out that Luka has no legs, seriously.
@@cameronpower7814 if he tears his ACL or his Achilles would that technically count as not having legs?
Luka is literally close to return
Genuinely there are like at least 20 other better offers that they could’ve gone with. OKC with their endless supply of picks and talent, Toronto with Scottie, RJ, and the 2025 1st just to name a few
The mavs gm needs to be investigated
Needs to be sent to the chair with no trial.
This is shady AF.
Basically the league office wants the Lakers set up for the next decade, otherwise a competent league office would not allow this travesty.
Rip your main channel video timing 😅
Jonny Arnett probably just had a heart attack reading the news. Not because it's good/bad for the lakers but because of how much of a shock this is.
Bruh if they traded him they either COULDNT figure out those conditioning issues or there’s something else going on behind the scenes too
I swear, Luka must of screwed the GMs wife
You just said my every thought out louf in your immidiate reaction, you are unbelievable
Outside of the back-to-back Kobe titles and his 60 piece farewell this might be the most excited I’ve been to be a lakers fan in my 26 years
