It's genuinely phenomenal how your five-part review of Toy Story 4 essentially flipped many people's opinions of this film. I commend you for breaking down virtually everything in this film and stating why this movie is so bad.

It was only a matter of time until someone starts pointing out the movie's flaws. Still, I never came across such a gem of an analysis such as his. It made me appreciate the trilogy even more.
Toy Story 3 was so genius that not only did the ending mirror the beginning of the original Toy Story, but also the beginning of itself. Toy Story 4 is pathetic in it's existence.
This may be a huge hot take. But I never really liked Toy Story 3. It just seemed like a cash grab. Toy Story 2 had already wrapped up the story perfectly, why show Andy when he is older? The best part of the first 2 movies were seeing Andy's reaction to his toys being lost, but in the third one he just gets rid of them?(lol), I get the whole point of that was to give a subliminal message on growing up, but why? The rest is really similar to 2 in the overall story arc, characters/character get stuck in a situation which seems like the best option at first, but eventually they change their minds/mind and try to escape. Prospector Pete and Lotso are extremely similar in the sense that they are both knowledgeable toys, and seem to be nice and friendly, but throughout the movie their true colors show. I do not despise Toy Story 3. I had some pros like for example I did enjoy the escape from daycare and thought it was a sad ending.

As someone who is disabled I HATE how this movie paints Gabby Gabby a clearly disabled character as this psychopath who wants to rip out another toys parts so she is no longer disabled. Lovely message. As someone who is disabled I give a big old middle finger right to the writers of Toy Story 4 for that one. Don't think they thought that through. Or WORSE they DID and didn't give a shit. Toys or not you can't get rid of the fact this toy in THIS universe of LIVING toys is very much DISABLED. They can kiss my arss.
To be fair, it would’ve been an edgier and generally more provocative yet an infinitely better message to give to the audience that disabled people can be absolutely horrible and should be punished like horrible people who happen to not be disabled. It’s like an extension with Lotso, but with disabilities rather than tragic pasts. Disability can explain the circumstances someone’s in and why they do what they do, but that doesn’t mean it excuses them being terrible people. See also Cyraxx, the lolcow. Unfortunately, that’s not what we got, at all. She should’ve either: A.Absolutely make up for what she did. B.Been a regular side character that’s not a villain and at least not a bad person, just like the disabled people in the Nemo movies. C.Get punished by being imprisoned like Lotso or something like that.
24:01: They did this to delay Bonnie realizing that Forky was missing because apparently that was the smartest thing these chearacters that, you know, have snuck into an airport, crossed a busy highway intersections, escaped a top secret daycare and scaled 23 feet buildings, could do.
Well, do you have an idea for how they could've delayed Bonnie's realization? In those other cases, they had the resources necessary to achieve their goals, but here, they don't exactly have any art supplies to make a Forky replica. Even if they had said supplies and managed to create said replica, if it came to life, it'd probably just cause further problems. I feel like they did the best they could, even if it was only ever-so-marginally better than absolutely nothing, because at least Bonnie had a tiny chance of mistaking the feel of the spoon for the feel of Forky's body in the very brief period of time when she was only half-awake and still had her eyes closed. By the way, some minor points: - The toys didn't cross a highway, just a regular street. -Also, it's implied that using the road cones was Utility Belt Buzz's idea, so let's not give the main gang too much credit.- (Edit: Why did I say this? That was the main Buzz, not Utility Belt Buzz. I must've taken stupid pills that morning.) - Sunnyside Daycare is not "top-secret"; it's just a regular public daycare. Maybe you mean secret in the sense that the toys in charge try to pretend it's a happy place when initiating new toys, but they drop that pretense after a single day anyway. Did you mean "top-security"? - It seems that you got the number 23 from Al's apartment building, but that's 23 STORIES tall, not 23 feet. Each story of a building is significantly taller than a foot. Also, again, credit goes to Utility Belt Buzz. Except the ACTUAL credit goes to that game manual Rex just so happened to find and pick up, which gave Rex the information of a secret entrance hidden "in the shadows to the left", which he then relayed to Utility Belt Buzz, causing him to check the side of the apartment building where there just so happened to be a vent accidentally correlating with what the game manual said.
Remember in Toy Story 3, when Buzz helped save Lotso, a tyrannical dictator who tried to imprison and torture them? This is the same person who leaves forkface for dead and abandons his best friend.
Remember in Toy Story 1 and 2, when Bo loves and tries to make out with Woody, and was sad about how much Andy missed him? This is the same person who treats Woody like absolute garbage and doesn’t give a sh- “The word I’m searching for, I can’t say” that Forky is left behind despite how important he is to Bonnie.
Toy Story 3’s ending was very bittersweet but a perfect conclusion for the franchise. When I rewatched the movie with my mother a few months ago, I cried real, genuine tears. I felt nothing during Toy Story 4’s ending.
Yeah, Toy Story 4's ending should've been different in my opinion. I do however feel like that the ending in PORTAL 2 was way more insulting and nonsensical.
Everyone's IQs and roles have dipped in order for their plot to work, but what they did to Buzz was unforgivable, yes. I remember falling in love with this character when I first saw TS2 in theaters.

I said it in the comments of the finale of the Toy Story 4 series on this channel, and I’ll say it again here… The voice actors said they cried while recording the final goodbye in this movie. What if they weren’t crying because they thought it was a beautiful emotional ending, but rather they realized how irreversibly this movie destroyed their characters?

Yknow I used to think it was a bit annoying (and still do but only kinda) but watching much more mellow and level-headed TS4 reviews (all of which were negative) kinda left me pretty bored and lost which GM13 admittedly never did so there’s something I guess. At first I thought it was because I was just tired but even while tired I paid much more attention to Trevor even if his self-portrayal wasn’t all for me.
I love how any time you see this film, you enter a trance from your usual jovial self into utter loathing. Dang that was such a good series, thank you for making it. Really helped me appreciate just how much work went into the logistics of other Pixar films, as well as Toy Story as a series.

I actually started laughing when Gabby was rejected by Harmony because they play this entirely seriously but all of the actions she made up till this point were horrific and they thought that they were genius for making her be good.
When I first heard Toy Story 4 was in production, I was NOT excited for it. When I first saw the movie, I admittedly liked it. But then I watched it the second time, and it is, no exaggeration, one of the dumbest, most frustrating movies I’ve ever seen. Trevor’s five-part Toy Story 4 rant hits the nail on the head when he broke down why this movie doesn’t fundamentally work both as a sequel, and a standalone film. His feelings are almost parallel with mine because, well, I love the Toy Story Trilogy too, they are some of my favorite movies of all time. So when TS4 came in and went against everything that the original trilogy was about, I couldn’t stand it, and I continue to hate the movie the more I think about it.

Bo at the start of the movie was already acting out of character just from this quote, "Kids lose their toys every day." In this very film, she JUST rescued RC and now, all of a sudden, she doesn't care? Where did this attitude come from? It didn't show anywhere in films 1 or 2 that she was tired of being played with by Andy or the lamp's accessory. Also, I've already said this in chat, but I'll say it again: If Gabby Gabby happened to know about all of Woody's background, that would just make her even MORE creepy, not sympathetic. This was already done in TS2 when Woody first met his Roundup Gang. Everyone happened to know who Woody was, and he had EVERY reason to be freaked out. The correct reaction for Woody would be to try to run from Gabby Gabby, or even before, had his friends for backup. But, since the plot demanded for him to go through this alone, Gabby Gabby was able to get her undeserved happy ending.

This is like the Twilight saga of Pixar. Nobody thinks, the plot is nonsensical and full of contrivances, and they (intentionally or not) portray an individual from a disadvantaged group (Native Americans in Twilight, disabled people/toys in Toy Story 4) in an unsavory light.

Just to share my personal experience with this movie, I'm gonna be honest with you all...When I first watched Toy Story 4 in theathers, and I'm not gonna lie, I genuinely, and I really mean it, actually liked this film at first...but that was only because I was WAY too stupid to not realize how fundamentally broken, idiotic, and nonsesical it really was, and it doesn't help that the ending of this abomination actually made me cry, but for ALL the wrong reasons...And to think that I ever liked this movie AT ALL is a HUGE understatement to how I feel about it now. So, after watching the 5-part TS4 analysis videos, the audio commmentaries for the original trilogy, and now the commentary for this one, I now appreciate the first 3 movies EVEN MORE than I ever did before, because Toy Story was also part of my childhood, and to see how Toy Story 4 came along and destroyed EVERYTHING is simply astonishing and infuriating to me...and I never realized it until now. This movie didn't need to exist, and I cannot comprehend how or why it does in the first place. GamingMagic13, If you're reading this, I just want to say that I have NOTHING but respect and admiration for you! Toy Story 4 should have leaned in more with Spanish Buzz. Instead of dumbing him down and doing absolutely nothing with him (besides the stupid voicebox storyline) they should have added more of his Spanish self to his character. Like I wanna see him violently yelling at Gabby Gabby in Spanish or him comforting Woody in Spanish or something. That would make the movie just a little bit better. I know that Spanish Buzz was just used as a gag and funny joke for Toy Story 3 but if they developed it more that would’ve become a fun part of his personality

I was kinda sad at first because I thought harmony was supposed to be the girl that was literally supposed to like Gabby. I didn't feel bad for her. I just thought that Harmony was actually the girl that was in the book and that's why Gabby liked her. So it felt weird that the girl that was made to be for Gabby Gabby didn't actually like her.

15:33 it’s weird how he Squishes Woody’s head. I recalled Woody’s head not being made of rubber. Woody’s head is made out of plastic so when the Dad steps on Woody he should still be at his normal head position. I touched Woody dolls and their heads are just plastic so the reason of it being squished isn’t possible. You literally said that a blowing ball didn’t dent Woody’s face but a dang shoe can.
Well, I'd certainly hope that grown man is not lighter than a bowling ball, that wouldn't be healthy. So that makes sense for him to be able to squish Woody's head, since Bonnie's Dad stepping would make his weight shift to that foot.

If I were to rewrite the antique store rescue plan, this is how it would go. I'd make it so that Bo and the others have to get Duke to jump across the isle to get the key, and THAT would be the place the Shopkeeper normally puts it. I mean logically, from her perspective, it would be a great place to keep the key to assure no shoppers would steal anything from inside, right?(Since they would need a ladder or something)

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm truly astounded at just how deep you can look into every single microscopic detail and use it to decimate an entire movie. I used to think that Toy Story 4 wasn't all that bad. I wasn't a fan of it but I thought it was decent enough. thats until I sat through the entire over 6 hour long decimation that you did over this movie and the more I heard, the more I grew to despise this movie. everything about this movie is fundamentally broken. the characters we loved and grew up with are either thoroughly assassinated or just not in the movie for more than a totality of 5 minutes. maybe even both if they're really lucky. the plot contrivances are fucking ridiculous. Bo Peep is the worst character in this movie. she went from being a one off, damsel in distress, love interest of Woody to a "girlboss" who verbally abuses Woody constantly and puts her wants and needs before his. she's a porcelain doll, she's not meant to be action oriented. even Andy knew how fragile she was and made sure he was careful with her when playing with her, but now suddenly she's a "kickass girlboss" who behaves like she's in the fucking Olympics despite her being a _porcelain doll._ she is such an asshole to Woody for literally no fucking reason (someone once tried to defend her actions by saying that she wouldn't treat him well after being separated for 9 years, which is the dumbest defense I've ever heard). Gabby Gabby (or Annabelle as you call her) is an actually vile person but she faces no punishment for her actions. she literally attempted to kidnap Woody after just meeting him, successfully kidnapped Forky, manipulated Forky to get information to use against Woody, is established to have been antagonistic to the other toys around this antique shop, and spends the entire movie attempting to maim and mutilate Woody all for her selfish gain, _and then the movie has the audacity to try and make us feel bad for her as she emotionally manipulates Woody into giving her his voice box, throwing his experiences with Andy right into his face, and she is rewarded for all of this._ not to mention, her lack of a functioning voice box, she would be considered disabled. instead of this movie giving the message of "you don't need to be perfect to be loved. you're worthy of love just the way you are" and could've made a scene where Woody convinces Gabby to try to find a kid without her voice box to promote positivity towards people with disabilities (like Autism for me), it actively treats her like she's broken and not worthy of love until she fixes herself. that is an absolutely fucking vile message to send to anybody. and how could I forget the road trip scene that literally makes fun of suicide, something I have also struggled with, not only personally but people I've known who have struggled with it. this movie is disgusting and I can't help but recoil in horror if anyone ever tells me that they like this movie, or even dare to tell me that this is their favorite movie. fuck this movie and everything it stands for

Even though Lotso had a tragic backstory, HE was the one who left Daisy behind, not the other way. Not only that, but he falsely told his friends that they were replaced, when in reality, he was the one replaced. And THEN he went to Sunnyside Day Care, and turned it into a dictatorship under his rule, while also abusing other toys who didn't deserve it. And later, after Buzz and Woody save him from the trash, he says that he'll push the button to stop the garbage machine, but he lied, and selfishly abandoned them to save his own hide. He FINALLY receives his comeuappance when he gets strapped onto the front of a garbage truck forever. My point is, Lotso showed that it doesn't matter if you have a tragic backstory. It does NOT excuse you for being evil.

I personally wasn't too fussed about 4 as we've got an explanation of what happened to Bo Peep since her absence in the last film (which was a smart move, given she's a porcelain figurine that would've cracked or get melted in the incinerator scene). I didn't think much of it at first due to childhood nostalgia, even though I strongly agree that the franchise should have ended at 3. My biggest issue was Bonnie, for breaking her promise to Andy, I get that she's like 5, and it's common for kids her age, but it strongly defeats the purpose of the last film when she was interested in Woody even AFTER Andy introduce his other toys to her. Jessie getting zero screen time was another problem I have as I see her as a third main character since 2. I was hoping for her to come with Buzz to find Woody and Forky, like have them split up and meet up after Buzz ditches Ducky and Bunny and the rest of the film can play out as normal, just with Jessie included. (hopefully develop her and Buzz's relationship). Speaking of Buzz, unlike most fans, I wasn't too fussed about his role in the film. (Despite it being annoying after the first 5 times) I'd take him using his voice simulator as a moral compass than another round of him, thinking he's a real space ranger. (since 3, that trope has been DONE to death!) Even when I first watched it, some moments made me sick to the stomach besides Bo and Dolly's personality shifts. Mainly Woody no longer has his voice box and Gabby Gabby's motivation and how she won and still got rewarded! Although it's giving me edgy vibes from the very first film, at least that made sense to the contents of the storytelling, even 3, with the incinerator scene. I will admit that 4 didn't really need to be made but the same time, at least we knew what happened to Bo before the events of Toy Story 3 and the somewhat secret to how toys become sentient.

Well, in my opinion: Characters -2 out of 10 (well, Forky isn't the worst character, same for Gabby Gabby which has only bad execution of the plot, "Looney Tunes" and Duke are terribly annoying but what's worst is the execution of Buzz and Bonnie.) Themes -10 out of 10 Animation 3.5 out of 10 (well I don't like the animation of TS4. It might be technically perfect but it feels too realistic to me. It's pretty dull and it lacks the magic of other Pixar movies. It also doesn't use lighting like most of other ones. The only scene where it's used in a breathtaking way is where Forky is made. Everything else is lighted in a very civil way, it looks very uninspired. Like, TS3 had a way better animation, to be honest.) Internal consistency 0.75 out of 10 Overall -1.9375 out of 10
She wasn’t scared, it was extremely late at night when we recorded this so outside of wanting to pay close attention to a movie she’d never seen before, she was also very tired. She clearly wasn’t afraid to speak her mind once the movie was over. Believe me, I’d much rather her be as talkative as she was for the first three Toy Story recordings we did.
I like how GamingMagic is raging about this movie, while ACatNamedFG is just quietly listening to him.

Toy Story 3 was so genius that not only did the ending mirror the beginning of the original Toy Story, but also the beginning of itself. Toy Story 4 is pathetic in it's existence.

This may be a huge hot take. But I never really liked Toy Story 3. It just seemed like a cash grab. Toy Story 2 had already wrapped up the story perfectly, why show Andy when he is older? The best part of the first 2 movies were seeing Andy's reaction to his toys being lost, but in the third one he just gets rid of them?(lol), I get the whole point of that was to give a subliminal message on growing up, but why? The rest is really similar to 2 in the overall story arc, characters/character get stuck in a situation which seems like the best option at first, but eventually they change their minds/mind and try to escape. Prospector Pete and Lotso are extremely similar in the sense that they are both knowledgeable toys, and seem to be nice and friendly, but throughout the movie their true colors show. I do not despise Toy Story 3. I had some pros like for example I did enjoy the escape from daycare and thought it was a sad ending.

To be fair, it would’ve been an edgier and generally more provocative yet an infinitely better message to give to the audience that disabled people can be absolutely horrible and should be punished like horrible people who happen to not be disabled. It’s like an extension with Lotso, but with disabilities rather than tragic pasts.
Disability can explain the circumstances someone’s in and why they do what they do, but that doesn’t mean it excuses them being terrible people.

Unfortunately, that’s not what we got, at all. She should’ve either:
A.Absolutely make up for what she did.
B.Been a regular side character that’s not a villain and at least not a bad person, just like the disabled people in the Nemo movies.

24:01: They did this to delay Bonnie realizing that Forky was missing because apparently that was the smartest thing these chearacters that, you know, have snuck into an airport, crossed a busy highway intersections, escaped a top secret daycare and scaled 23 feet buildings, could do.
Well, do you have an idea for how they could've delayed Bonnie's realization? In those other cases, they had the resources necessary to achieve their goals, but here, they don't exactly have any art supplies to make a Forky replica. Even if they had said supplies and managed to create said replica, if it came to life, it'd probably just cause further problems. I feel like they did the best they could, even if it was only ever-so-marginally better than absolutely nothing, because at least Bonnie had a tiny chance of mistaking the feel of the spoon for the feel of Forky's body in the very brief period of time when she was only half-awake and still had her eyes closed.
By the way, some minor points:
- The toys didn't cross a highway, just a regular street. -Also, it's implied that using the road cones was Utility Belt Buzz's idea, so let's not give the main gang too much credit.- (Edit: Why did I say this? That was the main Buzz, not Utility Belt Buzz. I must've taken stupid pills that morning.)
- Sunnyside Daycare is not "top-secret"; it's just a regular public daycare. Maybe you mean secret in the sense that the toys in charge try to pretend it's a happy place when initiating new toys, but they drop that pretense after a single day anyway. Did you mean "top-security"?
- It seems that you got the number 23 from Al's apartment building, but that's 23 STORIES tall, not 23 feet. Each story of a building is significantly taller than a foot. Also, again, credit goes to Utility Belt Buzz. Except the ACTUAL credit goes to that game manual Rex just so happened to find and pick up, which gave Rex the information of a secret entrance hidden "in the shadows to the left", which he then relayed to Utility Belt Buzz, causing him to check the side of the apartment building where there just so happened to be a vent accidentally correlating with what the game manual said.

Toy Story 3’s ending was very bittersweet but a perfect conclusion for the franchise. When I rewatched the movie with my mother a few months ago, I cried real, genuine tears.

Yknow I used to think it was a bit annoying (and still do but only kinda) but watching much more mellow and level-headed TS4 reviews (all of which were negative) kinda left me pretty bored and lost which GM13 admittedly never did so there’s something I guess. At first I thought it was because I was just tired but even while tired I paid much more attention to Trevor even if his self-portrayal wasn’t all for me.

I actually don't remember this because I was too busy bawling like Bonnie before Kindergarten before my friend dragged my ass to the Barnes and Nobels with Starbucks to calm me the fuck down but he told me that when the credits started to roll someone in the theater yelled something along the lines of "THAT'S how they end their franchise?!," that man was in the correct state of mind.

When I first heard Toy Story 4 was in production, I was NOT excited for it. When I first saw the movie, I admittedly liked it. But then I watched it the second time, and it is, no exaggeration, one of the dumbest, most frustrating movies I’ve ever seen.
Trevor’s five-part Toy Story 4 rant hits the nail on the head when he broke down why this movie doesn’t fundamentally work both as a sequel, and a standalone film. His feelings are almost parallel with mine because, well, I love the Toy Story Trilogy too, they are some of my favorite movies of all time. So when TS4 came in and went against everything that the original trilogy was about, I couldn’t stand it, and I continue to hate the movie the more I think about it.
I agree. I loved his 5 part rant of how Toy Story 4 destroyed everything it perfectly summed up why I violently hate this movie they should’ve stopped at Toy Story 3.

Also, I've already said this in chat, but I'll say it again: If Gabby Gabby happened to know about all of Woody's background, that would just make her even MORE creepy, not sympathetic. This was already done in TS2 when Woody first met his Roundup Gang. Everyone happened to know who Woody was, and he had EVERY reason to be freaked out. The correct reaction for Woody would be to try to run from Gabby Gabby, or even before, had his friends for backup. But, since the plot demanded for him to go through this alone, Gabby Gabby was able to get her undeserved happy ending.

This is like the Twilight saga of Pixar. Nobody thinks, the plot is nonsensical and full of contrivances, and they (intentionally or not) portray an individual from a disadvantaged group (Native Americans in Twilight, disabled people/toys in Toy Story 4) in an unsavory light.

Just to share my personal experience with this movie, I'm gonna be honest with you all...When I first watched Toy Story 4 in theathers, and I'm not gonna lie, I genuinely, and I really mean it, actually liked this film at first...but that was only because I was WAY too stupid to not realize how fundamentally broken, idiotic, and nonsesical it really was, and it doesn't help that the ending of this abomination actually made me cry, but for ALL the wrong reasons...And to think that I ever liked this movie AT ALL is a HUGE understatement to how I feel about it now.
So, after watching the 5-part TS4 analysis videos, the audio commmentaries for the original trilogy, and now the commentary for this one, I now appreciate the first 3 movies EVEN MORE than I ever did before, because Toy Story was also part of my childhood, and to see how Toy Story 4 came along and destroyed EVERYTHING is simply astonishing and infuriating to me...and I never realized it until now. This movie didn't need to exist, and I cannot comprehend how or why it does in the first place.

Toy Story 4 should have leaned in more with Spanish Buzz. If I were to rewrite the antique store rescue plan, this is how it would go. I'd make it so that Bo and the others have to get Duke to jump across the isle to get the key, and THAT would be the place the Shopkeeper normally puts it. I mean logically, from her perspective, it would be a great place to keep the key to assure no shoppers would steal anything from inside, right?(Since they would need a ladder or something)

It's like they knew Toy Story was something that would never be ruined with a live action remake so they had to do something about that perfect trilogy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I'm truly astounded at just how deep you can look into every single microscopic detail and use it to decimate an entire movie. I used to think that Toy Story 4 wasn't all that bad. I wasn't a fan of it but I thought it was decent enough. thats until I sat through the entire over 6 hour long decimation that you did over this movie and the more I heard, the more I grew to despise this movie. everything about this movie is fundamentally broken. the characters we loved and grew up with are either thoroughly assassinated or just not in the movie for more than a totality of 5 minutes. maybe even both if they're really lucky. the plot contrivances are fucking ridiculous. Bo Peep is the worst character in this movie. she went from being a one off, damsel in distress, love interest of Woody to a "girlboss" who verbally abuses Woody constantly and puts her wants and needs before his. she's a porcelain doll, she's not meant to be action oriented. even Andy knew how fragile she was and made sure he was careful with her when playing with her, but now suddenly she's a "kickass girlboss" who behaves like she's in the fucking Olympics despite her being a _porcelain doll._ she is such an asshole to Woody for literally no fucking reason (someone once tried to defend her actions by saying that she wouldn't treat him well after being separated for 9 years, which is the dumbest defense I've ever heard). Gabby Gabby (or Annabelle as you call her) is an actually vile person but she faces no punishment for her actions. she literally attempted to kidnap Woody after just meeting him, successfully kidnapped Forky, manipulated Forky to get information to use against Woody, is established to have been antagonistic to the other toys around this antique shop, and spends the entire movie attempting to maim and mutilate Woody all for her selfish gain, _and then the movie has the audacity to try and make us feel bad for her as she emotionally manipulates Woody into giving her his voice box, throwing his experiences with Andy right into his face, and she is rewarded for all of this._ not to mention, her lack of a functioning voice box, she would be considered disabled. instead of this movie giving the message of "you don't need to be perfect to be loved. you're worthy of love just the way you are" and could've made a scene where Woody convinces Gabby to try to find a kid without her voice box to promote positivity towards people with disabilities (like Autism for me), it actively treats her like she's broken and not worthy of love until she fixes herself. that is an absolutely fucking vile message to send to anybody. and how could I forget the road trip scene that literally makes fun of suicide, something I have also struggled with, not only personally but people I've known who have struggled with it.
this movie is disgusting and I can't help but recoil in horror if anyone ever tells me that they like this movie, or even dare to tell me that this is their favorite movie. fuck this movie and everything it stands for
I forgot the scene where Kaboom's PTSD is played off for laughs, something I also struggle with. Bo Peep literally treats his PTSD like an inconvenience. fucking abysmal

Just watching this movie with you again reminds me of every moment of your reasonings on why this movie is bad! And when FG said she liked it, I thought you were going to give her hell by going off on a rant about why she shouldn’t like it. But I’m glad you didn’t. I’m sorry that this movie broke you. I can understand how much joy and excitement you were during the last three movies! I remember me watching Toy Story 3 in my DVD. Such a great movie. So good in fact that we even were able to watch the other movies through tv where they would premiere classic Pixar Movies even back to back! So yeah I like this series. And I remember me watching this movie in someone’s house while being babysat. And I originally thought that it wasn’t that bad of a movie. But thanks to your 6 hour long series I can see how Toy Story 4 definitely destroyed everything.

Even though Lotso had a tragic backstory, HE was the one who left Daisy behind, not the other way. Not only that, but he falsely told his friends that they were replaced, when in reality, he was the one replaced. And THEN he went to Sunnyside Day Care, and turned it into a dictatorship under his rule, while also abusing other toys who didn't deserve it. And later, after Buzz and Woody save him from the trash, he says that he'll push the button to stop the garbage machine, but he lied, and selfishly abandoned them to save his own hide. He FINALLY receives his comeuappance when he gets strapped onto the front of a garbage truck forever.
My point is, Lotso showed that it doesn't matter if you have a tragic backstory. It does NOT excuse you for being evil.

Can I also just take a minute to point out that how did Buzz know that woody was in the pinball machine?? I mean, unless Weeble wobble, told him despite bo said that she knows the plan when clearly she doesn’t 😂
I personally wasn't too fussed about 4 as we've got an explanation of what happened to Bo Peep since her absence in the last film (which was a smart move, given she's a porcelain figurine that would've cracked or get melted in the incinerator scene).
I didn't think much of it at first due to childhood nostalgia, even though I strongly agree that the franchise should have ended at 3. My biggest issue was Bonnie, for breaking her promise to Andy, I get that she's like 5, and it's common for kids her age, but it strongly defeats the purpose of the last film when she was interested in Woody even AFTER Andy introduce his other toys to her. Jessie getting zero screen time was another problem I have as I see her as a third main character since 2. I was hoping for her to come with Buzz to find Woody and Forky, like have them split up and meet up after Buzz ditches Ducky and Bunny and the rest of the film can play out as normal, just with Jessie included. (hopefully develop her and Buzz's relationship).
Speaking of Buzz, unlike most fans, I wasn't too fussed about his role in the film. (Despite it being annoying after the first 5 times) I'd take him using his voice simulator as a moral compass than another round of him, thinking he's a real space ranger. (since 3, that trope has been DONE to death!)
Even when I first watched it, some moments made me sick to the stomach besides Bo and Dolly's personality shifts. Mainly Woody no longer has his voice box and Gabby Gabby's motivation and how she won and still got rewarded! Although it's giving me edgy vibes from the very first film, at least that made sense to the contents of the storytelling, even 3, with the incinerator scene.
I will admit that 4 didn't really need to be made but the same time, at least we knew what happened to Bo before the events of Toy Story 3 and the somewhat secret to how toys become sentient.

Animation 3.5 out of 10 (well I don't like the animation of TS4. It might be technically perfect but it feels too realistic to me. It's pretty dull and it lacks the magic of other Pixar movies. It also doesn't use lighting like most of other ones. The only scene where it's used in a breathtaking way is where Forky is made. Everything else is lighted in a very civil way, it looks very uninspired. Like, TS3 had a way better animation, to be honest.)

She wasn’t scared, it was extremely late at night when we recorded this so outside of wanting to pay close attention to a movie she’d never seen before, she was also very tired. She clearly wasn’t afraid to speak her mind once the movie was over.
Believe me, I’d much rather her be as talkative as she was for the first three Toy Story recordings we did.
