Rimbrake ultegra di2. i work in a city where there are a lot of hills. my morning workout is my commute also because the commute is 2km flat and a 7km climb with 500meter of elevation. after work i have to cycle down also in traffic and 10-12% sections with tight turns are very common on this route. i really love my bike but i started to build a disc brake bike because with rims for me the every day commute its just pain in the ass.

It happened to me and had to trash my hunt 50. Anyway, i still love the design of the aeroad and it looks stunning, looking forward to a video with your impressions and feelings!
Great new ride Fede! I crashed my old pride and joy Pinarello recently and had been wondering which way to go next. Your video was inspirational -- I'll be staying mechanical with rim brakes. Ciao!

Good morning Fede I absolutely loved that intro !!!!!! So amusing 😂. I have to say I love the look of the bike , I’d have gone for two wheel sets personally 60mm for the flat & 35 / 40mm when you go KOM hunting with your buddies in the Surrey Hills etc . I’m absolutely genuinely well chuffed for you. Keep the Aeroad safe & clean 👍🏽❤️
Meravigliosa, mo porto d’armi e bici in camera 👍 Congratulazioni, ero in vera attesa di un ritorno in grande stile, sapevo non sarebbe stato deludente!
Congrats Fede! Can't believe the weight! Nicely done. Not sure I could cope with those gear ratios, though. Don't know if in the next video you can set out the costs, would be super interesting to know. Enjoy the riding! PS good of you to go easy on the powermeter. But get some Assiomas, love mine!
Make aeroad great again! Im here for it. A beautiful lightweight aero machine, rim for the win. Where did you purchase those lightweight skewers please?
Beautiful Machine!! I'm still riding rim-brake too. You definitely don't need a chain catcher with a 54/40 chainset.. Also you'd drop 200grams with a Sunshine Cassette 11/34 is 230grams and the steps are nicer with 31,34 the last gears.
Ahhh style, one day its in, then not then in again. I am waiting for the day full coloured tyres make a come back so I can ride with all yellow or all blue rubber. The tan would bring a bit of colour separation to the bike, and I would be curious to see it :)
Love it! ❤ perfection! 🎊 Glad you finally on the right bike! ;). The config is amazing! I have sold mine, because it was too long and low for me, but crying ever since. It was a joy to ride every time despite the suffer… Now I ride a Tarmac SL6 that I love. But still would have those aero tube shapes to keep speed. If the previous owner wouldn’t have cut the fork to TFT standards or I would be more flexible and functional, I still would own that bike. Now I wish to find the snappiness of the Tarmac and the Aero of the Aeroad in a bike. For the rides I do (at the moment) accelerating out of corners is important. I don't take much wind, but I would like to have something that spares me a few watts going 50-60 when taking turns or “playing” at the local drop group rides. 😅🎉
I'm actually surprised by its comfort, even if I only managed a short ride. I have a zero offset seatpost, so maybe I don't feel it being too long or low
@ PeakTorque some time ago said so as well that this is the bike he would get as the thinner seat post gives more compliance. It is indeed a quite comfy ride being a speedmachine. You seem to be almost(if not) as functional as the world elite, so I am sure you are feeling very well on it. ;) Looking forward to all the new vids featuring you both!
Nice one Federico! What an ace result. Just for your info if you want to save a few more grams (86g to be precise), I'm fairly sure you can use any dura ace 12-speed cassette with your bike including their 11-34
@@fede1275 I'll stick to riding bikes rather than handing out advice 😅. I think it was the backward compatibility with 11 speed free hubs I was thinking of.
That's a great choice of components. You might want to go duraace 11-32, ee brakes for a significant reduction in weight, maybe 200-300gr BUT most importantly textured brake tracks. Riding in rain is going to be quite awful. Textured tracks won't be amazing but at least better. ❤ It was actually wise to go 12s series crank because the 11s cranks are being recalled. They fail after a while. However, the 52/36 170mm is lighter and most probably the best crank for max power output while seated/tucked = time trial crank. A trick people do is mount a 36t small chainring and make a 53/36. Not ideal for race shifting but, it works.
Congrats for the new bike. i think its a quite reward to build yourself . look, one thing that always bring my skepticism on carbon fiber with rim brakes is the track resistance. i remember reading some time ago that delamination will happen (sooner or later). it made sense to a point that i decided to avoid. is there anything build nowadays that avoid this? any extra layer on the tracks to avoid the delamination? i guess if they are still producing it, it should be resistant right? thanks
I believe with reasonable use and correct braking technique carbon wheels can work well. Definitely not for the gritty wet winter rides, where I use aluminium wheels to commute.
There is no problem with delamination on quality modern carbon rims. Period. This was a problem years ago when manufacturers didn't use proper heat resistant resin. If you clean your pads regularly and don't exclusively ride in the rain they'll last you 40 - 50.000 km easy. But who uses a raod bike in the rain anyway? Aluminium rims will break as well, eventually. And disk brakes do, too, especially when you overheat them. No system is secure against user error and general wear.
Bike looks fantastic. Many happy rides to enjoy. Keep it safe indoors with a man cave 😀 Just a question I have a wahoo element how do I fit my light underneath as you have. 🤗
Thank you! Most mounts come with GoPro attachment underneath and with an attachment for round lights with hooks for an elastic band. The Exposure trace fits perfectly, I cut the two outer hooks and use only the internal ones so it looks better and they fit the original Exposure elastic band. They also have a clip on GoPro mount, but I dropped the light in the past and I prefer the rubber band to go around it.
solid build. Only smaller parts I'd change is go for a direct mount RD hanger and viewspeed skewers. Interested in the front shifting for the chainline of 9200 as I said on last video as there are big weight savings with carbon crankarms with your dura-ace chainrings depending on your chainline. Also whats the max tire clearance?
I had a direct mount hanger on the Ultimate, it is nice but also doesn't last very long. Will maybe add later. Will check the skewers, I like the Lightweight for now. I believe the bike can take 28s
