  • A surge in international migration is driving Canada's population growth rate to heights not seen in almost 70 years. The latest estimates from Statistics Canada show the country's population grew by 1.15 million people from July 2022 to July 2023 - the biggest jump in the G7.

@@frankie9953 So sorry Frankie. Our government is trying to, in my opinion, fix their financial deficit by bringing in more people. That's great if they will share the load but I am not convinced. I just see my taxes going up every year to support newcomers. We were all newcomers at some point in history yet there was no welfare or credit cards back when my parents immigrated. They had to knuckle down and do the work. Thanks to them I am indigenous (I was born here). We need to stop trying to please all the minority groups. If we are truly one country, one people, that means we are all the same. No special treatment. Just go do your job and pay your taxes so ALL people benefit. The money I currently earn is mine for only 5 months of the year. Awful.

The only reason so many people are being allowed into Canada is because the Canadian debt market is saturated and they need new people to have credit issued to them because the people already here are already loaded down with debt. Without the introduction of new credit into a debt based economy, the whole house of cards begins to fall. Because the existing household debt is not being paid back in a timely fashion, if at all, the economy is responding negatively. Thus the mass influx of new citizens into the country facilitates the expansion of the credit market and allows for the creation of new money to keep the economy propped up. If our economy wasn't in a shambles, I would be willing to bet entering Canada would be much more difficult. The way it used to be.

I agree, it's just one big pyramid scheme. maybe that's why most of the immigrants selected come from the Philippines and India. It's ironic that Canada, one of the most indebted country per capita is bringing in record number of immigrants.

Do you want a safe neighborhood and a safe home? Alberta has every right to request more control over "immigration" to this province. Saskatchewan has requested it and Quebec has full control. Not only has Danielle Smith not done so (to my knowledge) but she has let in a staggering number of people, the most by far in Canada--people we have nothing remotely in common with and who pose an enormous danger to you, me, our families and our kids.

Feel so bad for those businesses that are not going to survive and only a few people will stay longer in their jobs. Many jobs grow but the main question is how long those businesses stay if no one going to buy because of these high prices. If businesses not going to grow how they are going to pay their debt.
