Hello. Can you help me? I have an EZRUN MAX 5 and Hobbywing 800KV. I can’t choose what to buy for my x-maxx: 20/25 drive belt or 30/35 mod 1.5. Can yoy say what is the best?
Any overheating issues with the Max 5 ESC with the CC 2028 motor? I have that same setup, but noticed the 2028 motor can pull 220 amps continuously at 8s, and the Max 5 can only supply 200 amps at 8s continuously.
Honestly I haven't really noticed any. Course I'm not geared extremely high either. Usually when I'm out I run 3 to 6 sets of batteries back to back to back with little cool down time in between. Many times I'm running with a chassis cover on as well.
It's actually a cut out of an old dust cover. Keeps rocks and grass out of it. Works pretty well actually... even with a full chassis dust cover I havnt had any over heating issues whatsoever, even when the pavement is 115°f

Thank you very much! I guess the gears I had on that run were sort of experimental, where they were cut thinner to try to cut down on weight. They guys that machine them them have stopped making them so thin so the new ones I have now I haven't had any troubles with them. I just been now having troubles keeping that little transmission gear from blowing now...(that little one that drives the center differential) Its been only lasting maybe 15 to 20 sets of batteries now before they self destruct LOL. But at least it isnt as expensive of a fix. As far as the proline's, which I'm running badlands which are a little stiffer than the trenchers, as they breaking in, they are softening up they swell a little bit, but hardly noticable, so I wouldnt really say they balloon any at least not like the stock ones do with all that power. I've seen alot of people have problems with the mad maxes with the rims breaking with the higher powered motors. I've never heard of the scorpions, you'll have to let me know how they are.

I'm sure there is plenty more I can get out of it. I can go to a 1:1 gear ratio and go 12s with that motor. But I'm happy with it. It's faster than stock with a speed gear, and wheelies anytime I want it to plenty for my liking.
@@walttrowbridge7687 sorry, i should have mentioned that, yes spur and pinion...with the same set up does not yet include this gear mesh. Im afraid to run it without upgrading it first so i was asking if i could run it with the stock or will i destroy it lol
@@keriannbennett2505 with the size of the motor and low kv you really have to move up on gearing size than what you can get from traxxas. Or it will be very very slow. There's something i don't understand... just did 96kph (60mph) with stock motor stock esc geared 22/50 and stock tires on SMC 7400mah 4s batteries... how come you only do 55mph with that huge motor ? It's 50mph out of the box with 18/46 on 4s... 55 is really slow for the set up you have...there's something wrong you should be able to go a lot faster
It's just the way I have it geared... yes much bigger motor, however lower rpm... more torque. I could gear way higher if I wanted to with that motor... far past 1:1 ratio if I wanted to. I'm good with where it's at. (30t pinion 35t spur) I dont have any heat issues where it's at, infact it never gets much higher than air temperature, even on a hot sunny day with a dust cover on. But where it's at is perfect for me. It will hold a straight wheelie from 0 to 55mph. Flip over in a heart beat with out even trying. So yea, I can get tons more out of it, but it's just right for me.
@@walttrowbridge7687 thought 30/35 on a 800kv wouldve give you more speed than that... i know those big ass motors gives you a lot more torque down low because of the low KV but i thought it would spin faster(rpms of the motor itself) .. cause 30/35 is quite some gearing ahah !
